If you've been like this since 2009 then you can't really want to sort this out?
Other people have to live frugally as they have no choice.
Other people need genuine help. What do you do to help yourself? Just asking.....0 -
Well since you ask I am in constant pain due to botched spinal surgery. This possibly in some part accounts for my struggles.0
-
I'm struggling to understand why you haven't changed in the past few years when you want to. In what way has the surgery been involved in your struggles with money?0
-
constant pain = depression= lack of motivation.
The shopping at Waitrose comment was supposed to be tongue firmly in cheek.
I am the only person who has tried and failed many times and now tries again?0 -
thanks so much ...that is a brilliant idea:p
It doesn't have to be those ideas, set your own mini goals.
I was spending £100 a month in Starbucks before I took Ill and couldn't work for 8 months.
So my first goal was no Starbucks, sounds ridiculous now but that was hard for me then.
Deep down you know what you indulge on the most, if you can't give it up cold turkey, then swap down a brand at a time. Baby steps = Big long term wins

Then its the depression that's the problem...
No amount of chucking money at it and buying is going to help....
Start the New Year afresh. Help yourself and get help with your depression. Don't think too big in the scheme of things. Small steps.0 -
I shop at Waitrose and I'm not bloody changing.
So step one is to plan how you are going to really, really embarrass yourself in Waitrose so you never step foot in there again for fear you might be recognised! But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

OK the game is up! You sussed me. I am bored and lazy and waiting for the Government to hand me money.
I shop at Waitrose and I'm not bloody changing.
Google emotional spending/psychology/ money......plenty of reading material.OK so I am so bored in my Waitrose lifestyle that I turn up years later with pretty much the same issues.......or wait a minute!! I am genuine and like a lot of others on something of a loop.
If I had wanted to make mischief I would have invented a new persona.
Why on earth would anybody pitch up years later and spin a story.think I'll transfer all that negative energy in to 10 thousand posts

You appear to have taken offence at what I wrote in posts #21 & #23.
I have re-read my posts and have no idea why you have taken offence.
I did not say you were bored.
I did not say you were lazy,
I did not suggest that you were sitting at home (or planning to) waiting for the Government to hand you money.
I asked about your plans for the future to maybe give you food for thought about changing your spending habits.
Obviously, you didn't see it that way.0 -
I would suggest DA if this is an ongoing long term problem.
Try http://da.wittygal.com/index.html as a starting point.0 -
indeed an ongoing long term problem.
I am not trying to ignore advice or reappear after years to cause trouble.
I cannt think that out of the tens of thousands of people who ask for a bit of help/ a few ideas that I am the only person to fail first, second and third times around.
Thanks for some good ideas.0
