useless with money

do you have a job? I find working full-time I don't have time to have emotional spend moments and am not bored so it is easy not to spend . it is also easier to be organised with shopping as I have to get it delivered so don't buy random stuff in supermarket and plan meals so we are not coming home and thinking what to eat-slow cooker every day !0

i certainly would find things easier if we had set meal times. Unfortunately OH works crazy shifts. After 20 odd years still struggling with the implications of this0

Well sounds like you are genuinely bored -why don't you get a small job or even a volunteering opportunity. I am at kids at Uni stage and there are advantages -first you can't drop everything for their "emergencies" so they need to work it out for themselves. My kids have a a number of friends mums for whom -them off to uni has left them lonely and a bit miserable so helps if you have an outside outlet-find something you fancy and try it out it will make you feel better and more motivated.0

thanks canny but I'm not sure how useless with money is the same as bored:shocked:
I do 2 mornings voluntary work which is good but very demanding and also have part time care job.0 -
To the Board moderator - I think this thread is better suited to Debt Free Wannabe instead of Old Style.0

I think you should start by telling your husband. Then you will both work together to change.
Not telling him gives you a 'get out of jail free card' to carry on the behaviour - tell him and you'll have to change.0 -
OK somewhat confused now. All I did was put out a general HELP!
Got some great replies and obviously I will be discussing plans with my husband.
It is not debt free wanna be because I'm not asking for help with debt0 -
I chose this forum because I like to cook and I like the philosophy0

Money is not just money ...it is tied in to my past ,my future,my beliefs and my emotions. Just never get a handle on it.
If you stop and think about it, it is ridiculous how much of our society is tied up in an obsession with how many bits of paper with numbers on we can get, which used to be tied up in how much of a shiny metal of limited usefulness we owned...But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

You don't need to be in debt to post on the DFW board.
I would suggest very strongly that you really do a SOA (Statement of Accounts) and post it on the DFW board - the template is here:
http://www.stoozing.com/calculator/soa.php
You say you've done one but I can't see where you've posted it since August 2011.
You clearly had some problems with completing the SOA but had some excellent advice on how to redo it (as well as some really supportive posts). But you never did redo it.
You will get some really helpful advice on reducing your outgoings.
It sounds like you have a lot of work to do about your grocery budget.
You've identified where one of your financial problems lies so - do something about it.
Why do you consider being frugal about food shopping is something that other people do and not you?0
