Hi all, I've had a busy week so managed to read most of the time but didn't have time to post. Lots of hugs to those that need them. xx
I'm making my friend a 'Have a cosy Christmas' hamper which will include slippers, socks, a mug and a kilner jar of hot chocolate and marshmallows with a mini Baileys bottle attached. I managed to get some great slipper boots from Accessorize with some bling on (she likes a bit of sparkle!) and some Christmas robin socks for £6.45 in the sale so made a good start on that and so cheap too! I already have a kilner jar and mug so not much more to do there.
I'm still getting on well with my New Years resolution, I've made Minced Meat Plate Pie and Cheesy Chilli in the past week. The pie was nice but I was really disappointed with the chilli. It doesn't actually include chilli powder, the heat is supposed to come from the chorizo you have to use but it was really bland so I ended up adding some chilli powder anyway. Even then it wasn't great so won't be making that again. I had such high expectations! This week's recipe is a Boston Cream Pie from Nigella's 'How To Be A Domestic Goddess'. I'm going to make it on Sunday so that DH can take it into work - there would be far too much for just the two of us! freespirit it's so disappointing when a recipe doesn't turn out as you expected isn't it? As mrs-moneypenny says perhaps have a look online to see if there's another variation? mrs-moneypenny that Malteser cake in Prima sounds amazing, just tried looking online to see if it was on there but couldn't find it.
HAPPY (VERY) BELATED BIRTHDAY MURIE AND JUNIOR!! _party_ Hope you both had a lovely day.0 -
Princess kitty sorry that prima recipie was from years ago Im sure I still have the original in a file, I'll look for it and post it If you want.
Played furniture Tetris yesterday the huge computer desk went out, the piano, side board big chair and two settees all swapped places several times but lounge does look bigger and clearer. I just have a load of stuff that was in or under the desk to rehome.
Advert in this mornings paper the £1.50 Easter eggs at tesc0 are buy one get two free if anyone needs any
Hope everyone is well hugs and good wishes for all who need them.

Evening everyone, i am glad there are some posts today, i came on yesterday and didnt know what to say haha, hope everyone is keeping well, i have had DS off work the last couple of days with the lurgy he is one of the last two to go down with it in the office, but he is feeling a lot better today so is going to go in tomorrow, and i have had another wasted day with a massive painful headache, it wasnt a migraine for once but felt as if i needed a chiropractor to crack it back into place????
PRINCESSKITTY your friends hamper is coming along nicely and sounds fab! Yes you are right it is disappointing, moreso when you make a dinner like your cheesy chilli, because it costs so much but like you say you just dont make that recipe again and you still get the enjoyment of trying to cook/bake different things. This week i have Cheeseburger Pasta and Maple Mustard Chicken from Pinterest to make and Banana Fudge Cake from a GBBO book, good luck with the Boston Cream Pie
MRSMONEYPENNY ooh i used to love moving my furniture around but in this house i cant in the LR as there are 3 doors, a fireplace and a built in unit so everything has to stay where it isi think i am going to have to miss out on the tesco easter egg offer as it will probably be over by the time pay day comes
CHRISSY i cant watch that i end up in floods of tears#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -
Hello everyone, I have been reading, but seem forever behind, so couldn't post.
MrsI I'm so sorry, sending love and thoughts to you all xxx
JJ and others, so sorry I missed birthdays, I am a nightmare!
Well, we've finally had an offer on our flat we can acceptbad news is there is only one shared ownership that is suitable and the owners aren't returning my calls to set up a viewing. We've been approved by the housing association for the shared ownership property, but they don't set the viewings, and there's no estate agent. It's all down to the current owners. I'm trying not to stress, but seeing as it means we will have to rent until something suitable comes along (could be months or years!) It's a bit disheartening. Especially as a change in address is going to cause upheaval for our main busines.

Morning! I haven't been on for a long time but for some reason last night I just couldn't get off to sleep cus I was thinking about everyone on here! So this morning I have logged in to see what you are all up to- I'm sorry to read that its not been a good time for some of you and my thoughts are with you x. Mrs I- I hope things start to look up soon, JJ-you constantly amaze me with your get up and go in the face of everything that falls across your path! You are one awesome woman!!
Princess Kitty- you sound as if you have got your routine sorted (as much as you can have a routine with a baby!) really well- I like the idea of a recipe a week ( I especially like the sound of the Boston cream pie!),
Does anybody know how Nanamia and Baby Boo are doing?
Freespirit- you are the one constant on here even when we all seem to drop off for a while. Keep it up, I like your recipe list too- I'm starving reading it and it isn't even breakfast yet!
Oh and Thank You to those that wished me Happy Birthday last week, I wasn't being rude I just haven't been on to check the thread xxlovin' this site!

Feisty, that's good news about the offer - hope you get to view the potential new home very soon.
PrincessKitty, I really like the 'cosy Christmas' hamper idea and it sounds like you're going great guns already.
Chrissy, I've never watched the Supervet programme but as you mentioned it I had a look last night and it was really good - will be adding that one to the planner from now on so thanks for the tip.
Murie, I think Baby Boo reads a lot but doesn't post very often so hopefully she's doing ok and is managing to keep up with the goings on. Not sure about Nana but Freespirit might have heard something when she comes on later.
Well littlest DGS is being hard work at the moment for poor DD. He's teething again (red cheeks and very whingey) but he just isn't sleeping lately. Last night she put him down at usual time and had to go up to him three times before 9 o'clock then he was awake on and off all night, basically only slept soundly between 4 and 5! Poor DD is shattered with getting hardly any sleep for past few nights and of course oldest DGS is awake when youngest has a short nap during the day. Hoping they both have an hour or so nap after lunch today so she can join in. Going over there to see them this afternoon so maybe she can have a rest then. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
mrs-moneypenny if you happen to find the recipe out that would be great, but I don't want you to go to any trouble over it. x
freespirit glad DS is on the mend, I hope you are too after that nasty sounding headache. Your recipes sound amazing - or YUMazing as someone once said to me!
feisty i'm so pleased to hear you've got a good offer on your place, that is one hurdle over. I do hope the owners respond to you soon, it's so hard when you're reliant on other people. I'll be keeping everything crossed for you.
murie yes we have quite a good routine here now which makes life a lot easier!
Peppapig your poor DD. Teething is so difficult, my LO is 7 months and is now getting hot red cheeks and pulling on his ears so they're definitely bothering him. He hasn't been too bad at night, he will wake up a few times (but always has so this isn't unusual) but i'm sure soon it will get a whole lot worse! You will be a saving grace for your daughter, there is nothing better than a little help when you're sleep deprived. Unfortunately we don't live near either set of parents, some days I would love to pop round my mums for a cup of tea whilst she has a cuddle with DS.
Well I now have mastitis, it came on really quickly late yesterday afternoon/evening. I always knew it was a painful condition but didn't realise it made you feel quite so awful, I feel like I've got the flu. Been to the doctors and got some medication so i'm hoping to feel a bit better in the next couple of days. DH is taking today off work to look after wiggle so hopefully I can get some rest.0 -
Maltesers cakes
250g/8oz SR. flour
2tsb baking powder
250g/8oz soft margarine
4 eggs beaten
2x37g packs of maltesers
Line a 10in(26cm square) tin with grease proof paper
Preheat the oven gas mark 3 /160*C /325*F
Put all ingredients except maltesers into a mixing bowl and beat until smooth.
Pour mixture into the Lined tin then push the maltesers into the mixture so that they are evenly spaced out through the cake and covered with mix ( smear it over the top to cover the chocolate if they are poking through)
Bake for 30 mins or until firm and springy to touch
Allow cake to cool in the tin for 5 mins then sprinkle with icing sugar and cut into squares ready to serve.
Hope you like it:)SPC~12 ot 124
