Afternoon everyone. Hope everyone is keeping well.
Not much happening here ATM, all pretty boring lol. Am off my crutches now TG and off to my 1st physio appointment next week, although not sure it's worth going to physio TBH. We'll see how it goes.
Went into town on Thursday night and got a few things in for next Christmas and birthdays through the year. Boots had their 90% sale on, but there wasn't much left. I managed to get some Union J perfume sets at £2 and £2.50 each.:T They'll do for end of term gifts for the students in children's class in June.
Have no idea who Union J are, but the perfume smells nice and they were cheap so I don't care lol.:rotfl:
Got a load of Christmas cards for 35p and 45p too. Kids are sorted for cards for their classes for the next 2 years and so am I for my own class :rotfl::T
Then went into Primark and got some PJ's thermal socks, bed socks, and those wee hand warmer things. All were 50p bar the PJ's. Got some nice Bambi PJ's for the girls on sale for £3 so that's them and nieces and friends sorted for Christmas next year. They also had Bambi onesies, 1D pj's and onesies for £3 each so got DD those too for throughout the year.
Boys got pj's for next year and some for throughout the year too. All £3 down from £7:D
Got my nephews who will be 19, 20 and 23 next Christmas a Superman and Captain America onesie for £5 each, and dressing gowns were the same price.
Got my Halloween costume too lol - a Where's Wally Onesie for £7:rotfl: Have had my eye on those since last year so glad I got it now lol
Have started my new challenge if reading all the books I have to get rid of the so hopefully when we finish for mid-term next week I can make a dent in that.
We've had a lovely day here yesterday and today so kids have been out playing in the garden with some of the toys they got for Christmas, recycling box was only emptied yesterday morning and could do with being emptied again:eek::o
I'm now off to check up on my savings challenge I'm sure I'm a week behind but can't remember for definate:o
Managed to get the last of my items I needed to make up little joke survival kits for the kids teachers in June. I plan to sell the rest somehow as I had to buy some of the items in packs of 10/15 etc so need to get rid somehow lol.

Hi all, I've been reading over the last few days but we're very sleep deprived here at the moment so didn't have the energy to write!
Peppapig sorry to hear you were feeling fed up, I hope nothing's wrong and that you feel better now. x
Wow IrishRose what a haul! It's great to be so organised, takes the stress away.
msgigglewick can I have the link to your page too please?
freespirit I think that's the way to go for supermarkets, if it's all in one place then people are more likely to fight over it! I remember a Tesco store we used to go to had all of their yellow sticker stuff in one place and I could never get to it! It's much easier if the stuff is just left where it is. I was getting excited yesterday as we've eaten quite a bit of food in our freezer which means I can go YS shopping again soon! I was banned for a while until we used some up!
junior I hope you're having a lovely time in Scotland and how lovely to meet you latest Goddaughter.
Well unfortunately I didn't get the sewing machine yesterday. We went to collect it but the lady neglected to mention that it was integrated into a big table which we couldn't get in the car as we had the buggy and to be honest I don't have room for at home. She'd left it outside for me so I knocked on the door to discuss it with her (and possibly see if I could remove the machine from the table) but there was no answer. It was a special trip to get it as she isn't that close to us so I think i'll have to look at other options now. Yesterday was one of those days where nothing went right, it was quite frustrating. Nothing bad happened, but nothing went to plan!
I did however use up two overripe bananas and made some banana and choc chip muffins, I left some out for today and squirreled some away in the freezer. Now I know how easy it is to freeze and defrost muffins I've got a real hankering to make loads of them!
My parents-in-law are coming to visit today which will be nice. Although unusually for me I don't feel like cooking today (think it's the tiredness!) so we're going to pop in to town and see what Mr M&S, Mr Waitrose or Mr Sainsbury's has made for us!0 -
Thank you Mrs G, Freespirit and PrincessKitty - ended up doing an updated energy comparison and swapped tariff. Stayed with same provider though - was going to do the big swap with Martin but worked it out that it was only £60 a year cheaper than different tariff with current provider and there are no exit fees and no hassle. Felt a bit better once I'd achieved something lol.
JJ, glad you're having a fab time and have met newest goddaughter.
Irish Rose, good news about being off the crutches and you're certainly well ahead on the pressie front!
PrincessKitty, that's a real shame about the sewing machine - hope it doesn't hold you up too much and you soon have one of your own to play with. I don't use mine very often but every now and then it comes out when I get the urge to sew and I love knowing it's there for those times.
Nothing new on the Christmas front but DD gave me two nice baskets that she doesn't use - they're squarish and quite big so I'm going to use them for new baby hampers for the two littlies due this year. The one due in May is a boy so have already started that one with some bargains in the Tesco sale. Other isn't due til September so won't start that one til we know what it's going to be. Will be padding the bottoms of the baskets out with newborn size nappies - bulky but usefulIt's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
I know lots of you use cellophane for hampers, I was in Lidls today and there were lots of 5 metre rolls @ 99p, both clear and patterned. The patterned could be useful for birthday hampers or for Easter.0

Evening everyone, i have had a nice relaxing sunday, washing, tumbling, cleaned the kitchen then read all afternoon and watched a film called Non Stop (its really good) with Liam Neeson in it
JJ oh your poor mum after all that hard work as well, crossed fingers she hasnt type one, glad you are having a fab time in scotland
PRINCESSKITTY yes it is i do hope tescos start doing it too, hope you have a good week on YS bargainsOh no what a shame about the sewing machine, you would think she would have mentioned it was that type of machine
i am sure you will find another one pretty quickly, you could always put a wanted ad on freegle? Oh dont you just hate those days where it is one thing after another, hope you get to catch up on some sleep soon
PEPPAPIG glad you feel a bit brighter nowthe baskets sound ideal for new baby hampers
DIDDLESTITCH thankyou for the tip on the cellophane at Lidl i will have to try to get to one as i am out of cellophane and it is always handy to have#103 1p Saving Challenge Back to Front 293.94/665.95Currently Reading: Christmas at Cedarwood Lodge - Rebecca Raisin Debt Free thanks to MSE0 -
Peppapig yes it was frustrating about the sewing machine, I have seen one on ebay I like the look of. I imagine it's nice having one for when you need it. The baby basket sounds great, I received one when I had my son and I loved it!
Thanks for the heads up on the cellophane Diddlestitch, it always comes in useful.
That does sound like a relaxing day freespirit, I remember those!
I haven't got much planned for this week, I must figure out some stuff to do otherwise it can feel like a long week by myself!0 -
Actually I do have two tasks to do this week, i'm a little behind on my 'cooking one recipe a week from my cook books' task so I've got two to do this week; chocolate croissants from Nigella Express and chocolate fudge cake from The Great British Bake Off book. Nice and healthy in our house this week!
I'm hoping to freeze most of the croissants (never made them before, i'm hoping it's easy!) and i'm going to make the fudge cake in my heart shaped tin to give DH on Valentine's Day.
