Happy Belated Birthday Feisty! Hope the lemon drizzle loaves weren't dry, lemon drizzle is DH favourite cake.

Whitesatin and quidsy- hope the cold doesn't drag you down too much.

04624181- fingers crossed Father Christmas has a kindle with your name on it.

Princesskitty29- erm given how DH's boss behaved yesterday Im inclined to be a little less ladylike than Miss Piggy if ever I see him again! DH is off to the solicitors this morning so once that is done and dusted the legalities will be over and his boss wont mess him around. Fingers crossed. No I didn't hurt myself when I fell - just dented my pride and my b*m a little !

Free- how are you and yours doing? Hope you are all in better health x

Everyone else - I hope those of you that are poorly get better soon and that any illnesses don't get in the way too much of any festivities planned x
Well despite being in the fizz of Christmas planning and prep we have put the reservation fee down on the new build we liked. We were getting a bit stressed with whether or not it was the right decision but we both feel a lot calmer now we've done it. I never thought i'd buy a house that hasn't been built yet! It's not going to be ready until September/October next year so we'll have to get into gear in the new year and sort out rental accommodation. It's a bit daunting but we're excited.

On the Christmas front i've still got some bits and bobs to do but i'm not stressed about it. Part of me would like to have been done and dusted with the wrapping etc ages ago but then part of me feels like it's part of my build up to Christmas and wouldn't be the same if I didn't still have presents to wrap. I'm planning ahead and have bought some buffet food for New Year's Day that i've put in the freezer, DH and I aren't going anywhere so i'm going to cook a 3 course meal for New Year's Eve and have a buffet we can graze the next day. That's if we don't eat it first of course.... :p

Princeskiity29-Well done on putting the reservation fee down! whoohoo exciting stuff, you are going to be in a lovely new house for next christmas.

Well today I have the pleasure of taking my gran on the christmas card drop to family scattered around. Hoping to be back for lunch and make a start on the christmas blitz lol x I am going to put the kids trees up in their bedrooms tomorrow after I have blitzed them. Will obviously say the elves have done it lol xx
Has anybody noticed how many sales have already started? I was like a kid in a sweet shop, got a game called juggle U from entertainer yesterday. It was £7 and it looks fab. Its got a couple of settings so easy setting for kids and harder setting for adults. Its part of the family gift I am doing for us this year. Have bought us a wii family trainer mat and 2 family games also this juggle u and hoping to get us a board game. On boxing day we have family day. Just the 4 of us, no mobile phones, no laptops, we do not answer the door or house phone and we concentrate on spending a fun day just us together. We love it!

Hope everybody is ok and getting well! Speak soon xx

Thank you all for the birthday wishes, it was a nice chilled day. Although I had a pregnancy hospital appointment later on in the afternoon which meant we couldn't do anything like lunch or dinner really. Annoyingly they did nothing at the hospital as I had another appointment lined up for later today. It should have been cancelled, but I think they forgot.

Scan today went really well, I have been discharged from the hospital until 11th January unless baby's movements decrease :j
Now maybe I can concentrate on Christmas, still no tree or decorations up here AND I still haven't finished buying gifts or started any Christmas baking :(

The end is in sight (I think) just a couple more things to get. But need to wait til I get paid on Wednesday :-( so trying to get all online stuff this week and can pop to Primark on wed. Would love to have it all done, but money is so tight. And now get a £200 electricity bill to be paid be Christmas Eve, my car need front tyres and possible other work. I need to pay the rest of Littlewoods from last year before jan 1st.
However I have avoided all credit this year and bought what I can afford. So no more Littlewoods and no credit cards this year.

It's hard to enjoy the festive season with money worries constantly there and the worry that my Dad is so unwell. But then I remember what I do have and am very lucky x

Sorry that last post was a bit woe is me and a ramble. I'm just having a moment lol

I love Christmas so much. I had so many fantastic Christmases as a child. Most of the good ones in Saudi where my dad worked. My mum and my sisters and I would go over to see him for the holidays. Just thinking of those times, the tree ornaments I made, the excitement of Christmas Eve, christmas dinner with all the family, it all comes back to me and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. I want my kids to feel the same when they are older.
I'm not worried about how much I've spent on them, or if I have got them enough. It's those warm, safe, fuzzy happy feelings I want to create for them.

  • Well i got DS stocking presents wrapped today, made the rice krispie marshmallow treat, its all packed up to go to various places, made a casserole for dinner and washed all my christmas mugs and plates and sorted all my tablecloths, platters, paper plates out, and had some me time watching catch up tv, so i feel a whole lot better than i did this morning :D

NIC dont worry about getting it off your chest, i am pi**ed off too, after having a really bad november i hoped this month would be easier but i had to pay an extra weeks rent again (i dont understand what i do wrong but for the last 2 christmasses i end up having to pay an extra week) so that has seriously dented my months budget, i will have to be super extra careful until mid january so no shopping in the sales for next christmas for me :( i really have to look at what i spend at christmas, although i dont go overboard its just to make it nice for everyone, like you say i want them to have lovely memories. Hopefully next year will be cheaper seen as i wont be hosting it :D

FEISTY glad everything is ok with bubs

freespirit66- I hope you are all ok, wishing you all get well soon and send hugs x
feistyfidget-wonderful news that they have discharged you until 11th January. Please take it as easy as you can though, remember you have precious cargo. Also we think we are invincible until we are completely knocked off our feet xx
nic2075-dont apologise, everybody is entitled to have a moment! That what we all come on here for. Its hard to make money stretch, I always have too much month left at the end of my money lol x Christmas is something that obviously your parents made special for you, you are doing it for your kids and your kids will do it for theirs. That is the amazing thing of making amazing memories.

I managed to clean downstairs and started on my bedroom today. Got the kids trees and decorations up in their rooms too. Need to finish off tomorrow and also finish the wrapping too x
Just finished bathing DD and got her in bed. I am exhausted so am going to bed early. I really want to be finished tomorrow so I can enjoy the days before christmas doing fab stuff with the kids x

Big hugs and christmas sprinkles xxx

Belated birthday wishes to those I missed

freespirit glad to hear thumper is getting better. Sounds like you've had a busy few days but while you may feel like your behind think how much more you'd still have to do if you weren't so organised

    Babyboo goodluck today

Fiesty glad the scan went well hopefully you can relax a little now

Nic feel free to vent much as we all love xmas it can also be a very stressful time of yr.

almost finished present wise just waiting on a couple of things to arrive. Delivered most of the gifts that need it though the ones I picked up in return are now taking up the space I cleared. What do you do with received gifts before the big day? just wondering if I should put them under the tree or keep them in the cupboard to be put out xmas eve like I usually do?

going to be a long night as taz bumped his head earlier he was bouncing on the bed and fell off :( lost count of how many times I've told him not to but do they ever listen :wall: anyway I've been advised to let him sleep but wake him every hr so not worth going to bed so think I'll have a look on pintrest while I have time to waste.

A week today its Xmas :xmastree:

    Morning all
Got some more wrapping done last night, all school cards are written and crackers are down from a attic for celebration dinner table at school today.
Chippy sold me two big pizza boxes for 30p last night so I can make a start on the selection boxes gif the boys.
Can't believe it's the last day of term!
    Glad thumper is improving.
Hope all are as well as can be.

Dd3 went to build a bear last night and made the cutest toy for her nephews fist Christmas it is unbelievably cute. Ds2 enjoyed their trip to the Coca-Cola truck and said the queue was unbelievable. Dd3 commented that it was so busy in town last night every shop was rammed but it was a good atmosphere, the local mp, had tried to ban the truck from coming saying cola was not something he wanted promoting in our city and that it wasn't Christmassy it was peddling diabetes to our children. The grinch is obviously alive and well in Leicester! This is the same mp who was photographed opening a sweet shop in the papers! So double standards apply when it suits them. The local shops who pay extortionate rates and his wages must have been thrilled to have it as it boosted their sales for the night. When I read the article I did say that will, make more people want to go as we are just fed up with being told by the nanny state what we should and shouldn't do. (Stops ranting now.)

Did anyone watch that his yo eat better cheaper at Christmas last night, I couldn't believe what they were spending! No wonder the gy was going so much overtime to pay for it all. They should join this thread and shop mse through the year to spread it out.

Games day at school today, and I've got my elf t shirt instead of. Christmas jumper as I'll just be too hot (I don't mean that in an inappropriate way either lol)
Have a good day all, I knock off for Christmas tonight so will be watching Christmassy films wrapping and baking from here on in.

  • gosh, what a marathon catch up that was!!!!!!! 5-6 pages, sorry, l cant remember everyone, read though, and celebrated with each success and commiserated/wept for the problems, issues and crises' . Free, poor Thumper. poor DD and Poor poor you. Hope that all the 'small stuff' doesn't sweat you, and that you have a super Christmas with them all.
Feisty, bug ger the decs and wraps and anything else that doesn't get done, you are cooking a bub, you have a new home, and you have love, received and to give, nowt else matters, its all smoke and mirrors. xxxxx
Sorry l have been invisible recently, blame any combination of a)nasty bug, b)roof problems and ceiling repairs, c) preparing for invasion by family.. (at this point l hyperventilate, feel butterflies and get a bit teary ) they arrive today, tonight, ETA 2130hrs) d)DD falling downstairs again! must be a thing for our thread.e) reasonable and not so reasonable requests from random other people and the absence of a usable 'no' response from me.
l haven't had time this year to do any of the Christmas hanging baskets or the indoor arrangements, may get one or two done this week, but if not l don't think the world will stop turning.l think l have got ready in time, presents wrapped, food sshopping done, and house reasonably clean and decorated.
oh dear, l must have hit the 'go advanced' button and now don't know how to post this, it may vanish, if not l have learned something xxx
