Chrissy I was amazed that anyone could spend that amount! It was purely for tv if you waste a lot and over spend of course you can make substantial savings.
I didn't see the one you mentioned.

Just watched holiday inn, never see. That before I'd mistaken it for white christmas

Evening, had a nice day with my girls and thier dancing friend dancing in a local Tesco to raise money for our dance school. We then drove the 30 mins home with the Christmas cd blaring, counting christmas trees on the way home (304!)
Then watched Arthur Christmas, nativity 1 then I watched White Chrsitmas when the kids went to bed.
    So feeling very festive lol.,

This is the best few days, I just love the last few days before Christmas Eve. All the excitment and nice feelings building. I'm dreading the down feeling come the 27th, but I plan to have a healthy, dry clean eating start to the year to get me focussed.

On another note, who is the brave soul willing to set up the thread for next year? 3forholidays are you happy to do it again? Did we come up with a name? X

  • vulpix wow that's a lot of cleaning! Good that you can start getting back to normal now. It sounds like you had a lovely day in Chester.

fiesty that's a shame about the box. Hopefully a lot of the contents can be salvaged. Have fun putting the tree up! You must be relieved to be able to close the shop soon, you make sure you get some well earned rest after that!

mrs-moneypenny thanks, I love that programme, I didn't realise they did a Christmas one. I downloaded it and have seen the first 20 mins, £1400??!! But on the other hand, if you can afford it and it's what you want for Christmas then why not. I know it was too much for this couple but it won't be for a lot of people and it's up to them what they spend their money on. Although I really hate food waste, I just can't imagine buying that much food! We'd never get through it.

CHRISSYG I didn't see the benefits programme but would be interested in seeing that too so will look out for it. I think i'm just interested in other people's psychology when it comes to finance. Not in a judgemental way, I just find it interesting how different everyone is. Although it does anger me how some people are so flippant and waste money and give other people on benefits a bad name.

I'm currently sat in bed with a cup of tea, alas I haven't had a lie in, I was up with Wiggle at 5:07 today (a slight improvement on yesterday's 4:50!) so DH has just relieved me and i've hot footed it back to bed for half an hour! DH and I have both caught Wiggle's cold, not really badly, just enough to make us feel a bit rubbish. We are due to go to a friends for Christmas drinks this afternoon (as well as lots of other people) but we really don't feel like it. The trouble is i'll feel really guilty if we don't go, I hate pulling out at the last minute. Also that friend is supposed to be coming to mine in the morning with a couple of other mummy friends for a hot chocolate and i'll be sad if I can't do that so I can't pull out of today and still have tomorrow! Oh dear, social politics!

We've got to pop into town this morning to get a bit of food as we're not having a food delivery this weekend, hopefully it won't be too busy. I'll try to wrap the few presents left and finish the cross stitch today, then i'm going to settle down to watch the Nightmare Before Christmas this evening. I watched Arthur Christmas last night, what a sweet film! I hope you all have a good day.
  • Morning all
We were talking about the programme at work the fact the guy said he was doing so much overtime to pay for it. I said I'd sooner have Dh here and peel my own roast potatoes -2 people commented yes that because you have a lovely Dh. I thought that was really sweet it made his day when I told him.
You are right everyone's budget is different and it's not up to anyone to criticise anyone else or judge them. We are all on the thread to help each other look for bargains and ideas. It would be boring if we all had identical Christmases.
Going to have a look at the rope lights w have and see about putting some outdoors now we have the socket, would also like to finish the wrapping in the next couple of days. Plan to watch wonderful life this morning and may go out tonight to watch ds1 at an open mic.

    Have a lovely day all

Ps hope you enjoyed White Christmas nic, I thought we'd got that but like I said I'd confused it with holiday in, is that the one where it snows at the end and they open the big doors behind the singers.

  • Good Morning fellow christmas crazies xxx

Feistyfidget- your husband is very brave! lol x Have fun putting the tree up, once your orders are posted on Monday you will be able to relax and enjoy christmas.
freespirit66-you are cooking up a storm, wish I lived near you lol x I hope you, thumper and dd are doing ok xx
Mrs moneypenny-How lovely that your son wants to spend his evening with yourself and his dad. That speaks volumes! I think that is a great testament to yourself and your husband x have fun x
chrissyg-I did not see the benefits episode but did see the eat well, spend less one. Was horrified! I too used to think holiday inn and white christmas were the same so im determined to watch it this year.
nic2075-that sounds like a fantastic day, i love doing the christmas tree count on a journey x
princesskitty29-the politics of social outings causes alot of pressure at this time of year. We did not attend an event yesterday at church as husband is feeling a little weak and we had so much to do. We will be going to church this morning though. Sometimes even one evening frees up so much time. He made some gravy for christmas day which is now in the freezer, tried a carrot recipe he had seen on television which was lush!! it has, butter, sugar and star annise as a sauce that you cook the carrots in. It was gorgeous! Then he went to bed early as he is fighting something we think, he is on immunosuppressant tablets for his Ulcerative colitis. I love that you are planning for next year already xx Me too xxx
Well we are out at church today, my nephew is coming back to stay for a few days. He is the same age as my son and get on so well. He is coming to have some christmas fun with us as his mum is working. He is here until weds. Still got a few bits left to do but nothing major so am feeling quite relaxed xx
Hope verybody is ok, big hugs and christmas sprinkles xxxx

Yes, I'm happy to start the new thread but I've not decided on the name yet. It is my plan to post the new thread on Christmas Eve if that is ok with everyone. :)

Regarding titles for the new thread I was thinking of:

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

    or

It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

but I'm struggling to decide so if people could state their preference then that would be greatly appreciated. :T

  • Happy christmas to all.... not sure i'll get chance to get back on here until xmas so saying it now. lol

i'm still getting over the flu. Glad i shut up the shop on the 15th. the last weekend was the hardest with 24 orders and me with no energy wasn't fun. Just got the chesty cough and funny voice left to get rid off.. sadly 2 of my girls seem to have been struck down with it atm but hopefully them being younger they will get rid of it quickly.

Waiting on 3 items to be delivered that should have been here last week. Not major items but would be nice if they come before xmas.

Don't forget Norad santa tracker (or the google one if that one takes a while to get going) on xmas eve... my girls still love following that.

Off to see my brother and his son today to exchange pressies. Sad i won't see my brother open his as dh has built him a nintendo emulator so he can play the original mario games we us to play together when we were little. They really dated lol.

Just got the food shop to do and dd1 is going to bake a marmalade glazed christmas ham for me and we're going to make some christmas cookies on tuesday with the little ones for santa.

dd4 is bouncing around like a loon lol she's soooo excited. Can't blame her having heard from santa what he's bringing her ;)

Think i'm more excited for new year and to beable to say goodbye to this year. It's not been a kind one really.

i'll stop blabbering and wish you all a happy safe and enjoyable xmas. xx

Yes, it was. It's a nice ending. I love old films and had never managed to watch it all the way through. Is Holiday inn similar?
I'm saving It's a wonderful life for Christmas Eve. I look forward to the kids going to bed and sitting down with a glass of Prosecco and some nibbles to watch it. Might try the colour version this year. X
