Free - Thank you! Definitely going to be a hyggeligt one this weekend - a 10 hour day today, argh :(

Feisty - I think I will! I don't mind putting the extra hours in in the early days, but coming in early AND staying late is already taking its toll!

Bought a choc orange today ready for my mum's stocking. She has one every year, so I thought I'd take advantage of the £1 offer in Tesco.

I spotted some very interesting festive drinks in M&S last week - Apple Pie Martini, Gold G&Tea, Christmas Mince Pie Martini, Chocolate Yule Log Cream (I assume it's like Baileys?) - might be good if anyone's looking for something a little bit different this year :)

Welcome Andie! Everyone is so nice here so I'm sure you'll fit right in. :)

BBRosie - Really hope it gets sorted out soon! What a nightmare!

I've quite a busy (& tiring!) day today. Went out to lunch with a friend which was lovely. Then went to look for shoes for a wedding evening do I'm going to. No luck because the shoe shop has disappeared! No idea how long it has been gone. Used to be a Shoe Market. Nice and cheap. So I was annoyed and went and bought a toblerone for 99p in Home Bargains ;)

Then my parents came to pick me up and we went to get some food bits at the co-op. I snuck some gingerbread muffins into the trolley. Will report back as to how they taste. ;)

Anyhoo later on at home I managed to spill a tub of cotton buds all over the floor. And of course as I was finished picking them up I forgot I had left the wardrobe door open...OUCH. My poor head was not impressed. Living up to my username already! :o

So I'm pretty tired but I have to get up early for my first OU tutorial of the year tomorrow. Here's hoping I actually manage it! :(

BBRosie, how annoying that must be. Hope they get it sorted out soon so you can get back to normal.

04624181, I did a quiz for the family a couple of Christmases ago which I think everyone enjoyed - I'll try and dig it out, I'm sure I must have saved it on the laptop somewhere.

Welcome Andie, nice to have you along.

Nothing festive today as have been over at DDs looking after the DGSs this afternoon. Tomorrow we'll be back over there as DD and DSIL are going to a family birthday party in another area so we're going over there just after lunch tomorrow and staying overnight to look after the boys. I think Sunday is going to be a day for recovery lol.

Yesterday though I popped into M&S and bought 2 bottles of wine to finish off one Christmas pressie and also got 2 tins of biscuits (they have the shortbread ones in the stag tin at £4.50) to go with 2 other pressies - used some of the vouchers I got for swapping the house insurance. Also bought four medium sized gift bags for £1 in one of the card shops and picked up the ELC toy I ordered for DGS. Feel like I'm really getting somewhere now.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

    Hi everyone :)

Not been on in ages - its been manic here. I've had some health issues which have been getting a little worse so have been here there and everywhere, on top of work, overtime, and we just had an offer accepted on a house after the last one fell through, so we may be moving close to christmas...Aaaaaargh!

I've managed to pick up a couple of bits for my niece, and started thinking about what to buy for a couple of awkward family members (they are emigrating in a year or so, so nothing bulky). I think I will go with a hamper, I saw some popcorn holder things but I can't remember where I saw them...might have been on here?

Anyway, hope everyone is well, and hugs to all :)
  • Evening everyone, i feel as if a big weight has been lifted off my shoulders tonight, i got the front of the bungalow cleaned today, swept the cobwebs off the guttering and windows, cleaned the windows and front door and porch floor, cleaned out the light and took the bulb out as i need to buy a new one, swept the stones back to where they should be, cleaned the garage door (god it was disgusting) so lots of ticks off my organised christmas list phew! Then DD1 decided she cba to wash car so we took it to a polish car wash near her work, they are fantastic, about 6 people washing it and then you move on a bit and 6 people cleaning the inside out, they really had their work cut out it was blooming disgusting so DD1 tipped them rather generously :o i have gone down with the lurgy just as we are to have our weekend away  typical, last time i had a night away was 2 years ago so really need this weekend! I also cashed out another £15 of survey vouchers today so have ordered DS pjs, some bazinga lounge pants and a bazinga t shirt (from TBBT)

FEISTY we are going tomorrow morning to Bletchley, DD1 booked it all for my birthday, we are spending the day in Milton Keynes shopping then to a lovely hotel where we will chill and have dinner, then included are tickets to Bletchley Park on sunday morning (from the imitation game) then we are going to have a pub lunch and then home, i am so looking forward to it, just getting away from everything!

MRSMONEYPENNY oh i have that film in my christmas dvd stash, i really liked it. I think i could actually read that book again too i enjoyed it so much, but i have enough books waiting to be read :D

ELLIE oh flipping eck i knew i would forget to apply for the free tickets :rotfl:i should have put a reminder on my phone! I hope you enjoy it, we want to hear all about it. Oh how exciting, how long are you going for? When are you getting married? Hope you have a great time

CHERRY will keep an eye out for you on the whisky

ANDIE hi and welcome to our lovely thread, you can talk about christmas literally anytime here! Yep i think we have all been there with the chocolates :o

BBROSIE oh no how annoying and blooming inconvenient for your wages to have been messed up, its quite worrying when we rely on the money and have things going out or earmarked for payment, i hope they manage to sort it out before nexts weeks wages

KAYA good for you i hope you have a lovely weekend! Mmmm those drinks sound gorgeous, i will be looking into them, thankyou! :p

CLUMSY oh i bet you will be glad when today is over!! Good luck with your tutorial tomorrow :)

PEPPAPIG reading your post suddenly reminded me of how my kids used to love visiting exH dear nan, she used to save the quizzes that they had in her sheltered accomodation for the kids whenever they visited, lovely memories! Glad you are feeling organised for christmas now and hope you had fun today with the DGSs

Hope you are feeling a bit better now! Congratulations on the new house. :)

I bought a house (no chain & FTB) in December 2012 just before Christmas - got the keys on the 19th & moved in on the 21st. The worst thing was trying to get a removal firm at short notice as the period between acceptance of offer and getting the keys was about a month.
