Good evening everyone :hello:
I've had a lovely day doing some Christmassy things. I ordered a few new to me albums so I have been chilling out to some Buble, Annie Lennox's Cornucopia and Zoey Deschanel's band amongst others.
I've sorted all my boxes into categories of decorations, presents and wrapping stuff. This has condensed into just 3 or 4 boxes instead of loads of cardboard boxes all over the house. I'm just waiting for my Matalan order and I think that is it for the decorations at least....oh, who am I kidding, I'm bound to see some more lovely twinkly things I will need.
My hedgehogs are being pinched by the girls as fast as I knit them so will have to have a hedgehoggy amnesty and gather them up so I can take a photo of them. I really love making them and they look very cute. I have a pattern and yarn for a seal pup too which I will have a go at once I get bored with the hedgehogs.
Lots of crafting bits have arrived too so I am waiting on my friend to get back from Spain at the end of the month and we will get started. I will be looking at Pinterest for ideas. I can lose hours on there so will wait till the girls are in school.
Hope you have all had a great day, take care xx0 -
Evening everyone, i popped to M&S this morning to put the compensation cheque in and pick up a candle i had ordered (i got a £5 birthday voucher from them) so it only worked out to a £1, i have decided i will put it in DD1s stocking. While i was there i thought i would look at the food, and was disappointed again (everyone keeps saying for goodness sake it is too early!!!) perhaps it is! Anyway i still managed to spend £30 off of my gift card but over the last couple of weeks buying offers i have saved £19 so i am happy.
PEPPAPIG haha i like it :rotfl:perhaps we as christmas nuts who are looking all year, are impatient for christmas to explode onto the high street!
FEISTY yes!!!!!! i thought that looking at the pictures you would never think it was the pound shop it all looks so lovely!
MRSINVISIBLE oh you do make me giggle, i love your posts! Your christmas sounds lovely
PIXTOTTS omg that sounds gorgeous mmmm! I am sure you will all get together and have a wonderful time and toast absent loved ones, wherever it may be. I hope you are over your hangover now, my DD1 always craves mcdonalds coke if she is hungover
MRSMONEYPENNY ooh that sounds lovely i bet that will look gorgeous in the hall
GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY no that doesnt sound selfish at all honey, no matter how much we all enjoy having family at christmas i think everyone secretly would love a christmas of just pleasing themselves! Luckily my situation has meant that we can do that!
CLUMSY i must have a look at Dunelm, i havent been on the website yet, i love korma we never have enough turkey leftovers for things like that!
MONEYMISSION because some people have nothing better to do im afraid!! I have an ocado christmas shop coming on tuesday and i think my christmas cupboard will be full to the brim!! Maybe it will stop me buying much more :rotfl:
BBROSIE wow you have a lot on your plate my lovely!
PRINCESSKITTY oh honey what a weekend you are having, at least DH wasnt hurt it could have been much worse! I am sorry you are bearing the brunt of it though! Im sure when he has got over the shock of it all he will realise what a grump he has beenI cannot believe the trouble you have had with the laptop, and you must be so upset at losing sentimental photos, especially of wiggles first birthday! Would your parents or in laws have any copies at all?
PINKSTEPS oh that sounds really magicali felt quite nostalgic while reading your traditions
DUMPLING glad you have had a lovely christmassy day sorting things out, i always feel happier when i have these days

GTQ - def not selfish. I like Boxing day to ourselves if we can - just to chill and enjoy without having to make sure that other people are enjoying themselves lol.
MrsG, there isn't a reindeer making activity anywhere around here even though we're surrounded by woodland. Nearest one is in Yorkshire so a bit far to go. However, you've inspired me to have a go at making one so I thought I'll enlist help of my sis and look for suitable stuff in the woods then it can be an activity for when I have DGD in half term.
PrincessKitty you must be so frustrated with the whole laptop situation and to have that happen to DH on top of everything else must be horrible. I think when these things happen part of it is thinking of all the things you could have said but didn't or in wishing you could be the sort of person who could just lump them and walk away (even though you don't really want to be that person). Hope he manages to put it out of his mind soon and that you get to spend some quality time with him. I live just outside Woburn - you could have come and had a festive cup of tea with me lol.
Dumpling your hedgehogs sound really sweet - can you post a pic when you take one?
MoneyMission I'm very envious of your Christmas cupboard and that you can buy chocolate and put it away. Every time I do that we eat it all and I have to keep re-buying it. I'm going to wait til right near the time this year lol. Have bought the Ferrero Rocher for DD in advance though - they're quite safe cos DH and I don't like them!
Free I keep meaning to go to M&S - I've decided to use some of my vouchers to get some of their tins of biscuits to make up Christmas pressies and a couple of bottles of wine for another pressie. I figure that if I'm going to buy things anyway I may as well get them from there and use my vouchers. I'll save some for Christmas foodie treats for us too though (I hope).
I've had a really productive day. We've laid hardboard and then tiles in the hallway so it looks lovely - I keep popping out to have a look at it :j I've also finished the cabinet for DD apart from some final decoupage or lettering on one of the doors and I've finished revamping another cabinet (a wall one this time) for my sis. She bought it then decided it was more something her MIL would have so it's had the Annie Sloan paint treatment and some nice backing paper - it's much improved if I do say so myself. All in all I'm a bit 'big chief proud face' today lol. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Thanks all for your lovely words, as always things feel a bit better in the morning! I do totally understand why DH was upset, but he doesn't handle stress very well and I usually bear the brunt! Anyway he's apologised this morning and we're all a lot happier. Unfortunately we didn't spend Wiggle's birthday with anyone else so no other photos BUT we remembered that we also videoed parts of the day which is even better really.
freespirit we are all so eager for Christmas to be everywhere! I was at the till in Next the other day and the lady next to me was buying a pack of Christmas cards, the sales assistant said to her "you're organised starting this early", I really wanted to say EARLY?! This is positively late!! I know I couldn't bear to start this late in the year.
Peppa I would have loved a festive cup of tea! Maybe next time. We're also in Bucks but at the very bottom of the county in Marlow, on the border of Berkshire. It was really horrible for DH and he hadn't done anything wrong, I'm just glad he wasn't hurt.
I keep meaning to ask can anyone share any ideas for festive things to do each day in advent? I know people have mentioned on here before that they do an activity every day in the 24 days so I was looking for some ideas. I know I can't do a great deal with Wiggle just yet but wanted to start making some notes. I've got my organised Christmas hat on!0 -
Morning all
Hope everyone is well
Princess kitty, there are quite a few advent lists on pintrest, some are quite americanised so may need adapting but lots of good ideas there.SPC~12 ot 124

Morning
74 days to go...!!!
Kaya I know what you mean about the nearly 23 year old brother being the biggest kid on Christmas it's the same for me, he insists upon being the one to open the living room door first in the morning then hands all the presents out individually, then hiding one for himself under the tree so he opens the last present! He also wraps presents for himself!!!!!!! If he knows he is getting a slightly bigger present price-wise he knows he won't have much to open so buys himself stuff and puts it under the tree, it's become a bit of a running joke now as he reads out 'To Lewis, love Lewis' lol
We have a slightly mean tradition of my nan holding a bin bag for the used wrapping paper which ends up in everyone making wrapping paper balls to throw at her head lol
Free I'm with you on the throw over your legs - we're doing our yearly challenge of who can wait it out the longest before putting the heating on so we've upgraded from a throw to using our summer quilt in the front room at the mo!
I was told this morning that Ikea has Christmas songs playing as well as decorations out, plus Costco also has their Christmas stuff out...very excited for the Christmas shopping trip the first week of November now!I'm dreaming... of a white Christmas :snow_grin :xmassmile:rudolf:0 -
Ooooh I just found a 10% off over £80 spend at Boots (VB1280) and ordered 12 presents! With 342 and the discount code I saved £57.65, very happy indeed about that
my Christmas present spreadsheet is looking considerably more festive - it's colour coded green for presents in online baskets and red for presents purchased...I'm so sad!lol
