Still busy with xmas themed orders... poor housework is getting negleted lol Did get chance to get the boots catalogue but wasn't much in there that made me say ooo need that lol

Have decided adult family will be getting a homemade gift... irish coffee or baileys hot chocolate for those who don't drink coffee ..shall either attempt at glass etching a latte glass or vinyl them, not decided yet. miniature bottle of the tipple, sachet of coffee/hot chocolate, choc bar and maybe a scratch card... It's just a token gift from the girls to them really, they are all having a tight purse year with my brother going to uni and my other brother decided to cut back his hours so he can spend more time with their toddler.

Our xmas day is rather noisy, messy and fun, but changed every year lol

My SIL gave us personalised glasses with our names done in vinyl last Christmas. The vinyl came off after the second wash. So go with etching if you can, and if the glasses are intended to be more then mere decoration.

Haven't posted for a few days, but loved reading everyone's traditions. Ours starts on Christmas Eve when we usually got for a Carvery breakfast, then we pick up bits and pieces fresh veg etc. Home to open their chirstmas eve hampers , we bake sausage rolls and mince pies, most of our friends and kids friends pop round for cake and coffee during the afternoon. Christmas eve we do a big fancy meal for just us when everyone is finally home- steak for them and this year lobster for me. Then off to bed. When the kids were younger, we used to set the camcorder up for first thing in the morning- this usually involved moving half the flaming furniture round so we could get the shot right!

Christmas morning is early ( DS always wakes up first- he's 25!). DH goes downstairs, puts fire on and lights on tree etc and makes me a coffee, then kids come down. Presents opening, then the phone starts ringing with calls from friends and family. Breakfast is usually toast and fancy jams (so they eat their dinner). We take it in turn with sis to go to her house or they come to us, then I go and get mom for dinner. Everyone mucks in cus we have so many interruptions with people popping in etc. After dinner- slob out time! I don't drink until I have taken Mom home about 5.30, but the others have a glass (or 2) of wine with their dinner. OH and BIL usually crack open their special whiskeys. we don't dress up at all on Christmas day.
Boxing Day is our fancy formal Christmas, when we all descend on Mom. We all wear our posh clothes, sequins and all! Most of the food I cook up on boxing morning first thing cus mom has the smallest kitchen imaginable and her cooker cant cope with cooking for 11(plus 4 dogs!). I micro it up when needed and I have loads of those insulated dishes which are brill. Food cooked at 6 is still hot at 1pm!
We all get to moms about 10 and then its present opening time, and I get to have my first social Christmas drink as DH drives. we all go in my car(dogmobil as they call it) so the kids and I can have a drink with DH as chauffeur. The presents and the hound go in the boot, which she doesn't like cus there are usually mounds of presents and she is a big dog! After lunch everyone plays with their stuff and then its karaoke time!! My fave- it is set in stone that I get the microphone!! No one but no one gets it off me!

No tea cus we are too porked out, we may have some cold meats when we get home about 9pm. Usually I am too tired (and maybe a little tipsy) and just want to go to bed, Box ing Day is fairly stressful trying to co ordinate dinner at moms etc but I love it and wouldn't have it any other way.

Peppa- hope you start to feel better soon, the colds that are knocking about are really vicious aren't they?

Free- ooh-you are on a roll now! Don't stress over having a day off the diet- I always think its taken a long time to gain all this weight its gonna take a while to get shut of it! One day isn't going to make a massive difference . Don't beat yourself up over it x Feisty- its worrying when the numbers aren't adding up, but you have waited so long for this you will make it work somehow. Savour the moment. Don't make yourself ill x

Thanks Murie and Free, feeling much better today - was even able to go and do my childminding duties with the DGSs which really cheered me up cos they're so blooming gorgeous lol.

MrsG you're probably nowhere near me but where did you book the rustic reindeer making please? I've often thought about buying one of those but to go and make one would be even better.

Really enjoying reading everyone's Christmas routines - I think I'll make more of Christmas Eve this year, it's actually my favourite day of the year so I think I should make more of it.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

    Evening everyone,

MSGIGGLEWICK omg i love that idea of building a rustic reindeer, what a fun and different activity for kids to do, surely a memory in the making there!!

STARLET aww i do feel for people in retail having to work late on christmas eve and then in again boxing day, its so unfair!

MURIE oh your christmas sounds great fun, it reminds me of when we were kids, we always had big family get together on boxing day and had loads of fun! Now im too much of a miserable anti social person to do that :rotfl::rotfl:Yes i have got straight back on it, whereas in the past i would have just given up :)

PEPPAPIG aww glad you are still feeling better and had fun with the grandkids!

KAYA you are so welcome! Have you said where you are off to and what the job is yet? I cant remember! Wishing you lots of luck on your first day and hope you will be happy there!

FREE I'm off to be a Marketing Communications Manager! To be honest it feels silly - I don't feel anywhere near experienced enough to be doing this! It's exciting though...

Still loving reading all these lovely Christmas Day posts :)
