Morning everyone. I too crashed my car yesterday in to the side of a work colleagues car.im so mortified and feel an idiot luckily the damage isnt major on his car and he wasn't annoyed but still I feel stupid.
    feisty love that wallpaper
I love the excitement of unwrapping presents it takes the magic away just having them there to see all at once.
Anyway hope you all have a good day!! Xx

As others have said, please don't beat yourself up over this. Mistakes do happen! I once ploughed into the side of a bollard at a petrol station, mortifying!
Evening everyone, i have had a miserable day today, absolutely broke my diet  i woke up feeling not too good and really tired, i am so fed up of my trapped nerve that makes my back/leg painful that i just sat on the sofa, and watched the last ever This Is England 90 and chomped my way through the cupboard (very nearly the christmas cupboard) im so mad with myself!

STARLET oh honey we all have those days! Dont beat yourself up about it, the number of times i have done something silly and been so embarrassed about it while out in the car, you should park in a car park and sit in the car and watch other cars around you it is horrifying, i dont know how some people pass their test! While i was waiting for DD1 outside M&S the other day i witnessed 2 cars nearly backing into each other, 2 pedestrians nearly knocked over, and a driver taking about 20 turns to park in a space :rotfl::rotfl:honestly i just wanted to get DD1s car out of there!!

ELLIE i cant believe its only 79 days i remember last year as soon as it hit 100 days it flew so quickly! I really need to get my backside moving and get back into organised christmas cleaning too! Thankyou for the matalan code :)

ARTHIEN your DH family remind me of my exH sister, they used to spoil their kids rotten and at christmas well the piles were higher than the sofa! One year they told the kids they had to have a race and see who opened all their presents the fastest, well...... presents were strewn all over the place, paper flying mid air, i was aghast they didnt even go back and look through them afterwards they just turned the tv on!!! I vowed never to let my kids be like that, but on the other hand my DS was so slow it was painful :rotfl::rotfl:

GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY aww how sweet thinking of Thumper bless you :) i actually have one i bought years ago with the thinking of it being for the grandchildren in years to come, it was from qvc, an american company, it has a wooden, painted cabinet box and it opens to boxes then you open one of them a day and they hold old fashioned toys, aeroplanes, dolls, presents all ceramic, and then you put them on the christmas tree (which is really beautiful and ceramic again, this sits on a musical turntable) it cost me about £27 but like you say will last forever, ooh cant wait to go to costco again now! And how easy is it to spend more than what you went in for!!!!

Free please take heed of the advice you just gave to Starlet! We all have bad days, don't be so hard on yourself!

Feeling thoroughly fed up right now, as it is officially costing us more money living with the in laws (even though they are amazing and won't take a penny in housekeep!) as our big yellow storage is over £200 a month! Plus all the other bills at the unusable house are full price as direct debits :( I'm working all these hours and have zero money left over, in-fact we can't put money aside for my maternity (self employed) or Christmas. Trying not to stress right now :(

Oh Starlet don't feel embarrassed we all do silly things sometimes - I reversed off of my drive straight into my friend's car this year, my car was completely fine and his was badly dented in the side...talk about having a mare, bet you feel better now lol

Free, one day off the diet won't undo all the hard work you've put in and you've lost so much weight already :)

Not sure if it's a flash discount code day but I got emails from Adidas (25% 'FRIENDS') Dorothy perkins (25% selected lines) BHS (25% 'VCUKVIP25') Miss selfridge (24% 'VCUK24') Burton (25% 'VCSAVE25') think most are for full price and expire today but not too sure.

Christmas-wise I've piled up my baskets online in Boots and M&S. I get most of my presents from these 2 because of the Advantage card points/ 3-4-2 and M&S always do Christmas returns from September and have a 20/25% discount code flying around October/ November...which means I have pretty much found everything I'm buying for people, just need to pay for it all!
    I'm dreaming... of a white Christmas :snow_grin :xmassmile:rudolf:

    Morning! :)

As I'm in my last couple of days at my current job, my team took me for a leaving lunch yesterday. The barman said about how it was starting to feel really festive (the weather was a bit bleak here yesterday), and that he was hoping to get the mulled wine and cider in soon! Music to my ears.

As a few people have already been talking about Christmas Day on here, I was wondering if anyone would mind sharing their Christmas Day 'routine' or their plans for this year? It's one of my favourite things to hear people talk about, and it's such a nice insight into the way different families celebrate. Anything from Buck's Fizz to crackers to who gets the first pick of the Roses... eeek, starting to feel really Christmassy now!

We have an unconventional Christmas routine it starts early when dd wakes us up [the only day of the year she is up early !]
Once we have a cuppa made the pressies are opened then dd goes back to bed and we are left wide awake ! A quick tidy up then the rest of the day is just chilling out doing whatever we want.
lunch this year is a curry made the previous day in the slow cooker so just a case of eating when we are hungry usually around 3pm ish.

3 out of the last 5 yrs dd has also had a major seizure at some point during the day so its a case of keeping an eye on her.

Not everyones idea of Christmas but it works well for us.

My Dad used to do this when we were younger but my sisters would be going mad with me because they would rip their gifts open but I would carefully unwrap it and then fold the paper before even looking at the gift and of course they had to sit there waiting for me to finish before they got the next gift. I think by the time I was 14 I used to do it just to annoy them :rotfl:

I still do that! Much to my entire families annoyance my mum keeps saying she isn't going to wrap mine so I can't do it. They get even more annoyed on my birthday though say they spend the day waiting for me to open things haha.
I couldn't not wrap things at Christmas I LOVE wrapping!! These were some of my boyfriends birthday pressies last month :D

    Good afternoon everyone :hello:

Our Christmas routine varies according to who is staying with us at the time but this year I think it's just us so it starts on Christmas Eve when I sit with my teenage girls and we prep all the veg for the next day. We watch a Christmas film and then they get new pyjamas wrapped up to open before they go to bed in their Christmas bedding.

In the morning I wake up early and stomp around for a bit until everyone is awake, and I mean early, like 5am and then the girls all pile into our room and open their stockings. I always include lots of silly presents to make them smile too. I then go downstairs and put the bacon on for our traditional bacon roll breakfast and make the girls wait to open their presents under the tree until breakfast has been eaten, cue lots of very fast munching apart from my youngest who takes absolutely aaaages and really annoys her sisters.:D.

I put the turkey on and then we just sit down and relax and look at our presents. I keep hopping up and down to sort out the Christmas dinner and the girls will lay the table so it looks really festive and pretty with special table cloths, runner and napkins. I am planning to make individual mini sweet trees as place settings this year but I have been told we have to make the sweetie sleighs as well as they were such a big hit when I made them before.

After dinner, I go to bed for a snooze while hubby and the girls clean up and then we all do our own thing until the evening when we get out a new board game and some old favourites as well. There is the traditional turkey sandwiches for tea and we crack open the roses and quality street as well.

Our grandchildren and eldest daughter pop round at some point and we play a silly dice game which the kids love which involves wrapping up some small gifts and some very silly prizes but in a way to disguise the contents. They are all placed in a pillow case and everyone sits in a circle and takes turn to roll the dice. If you roll a 6 you get to pick a prize out of the bag but if someone else rolls a 1 they can steal one of the prizes from another player. This goes on until all the prizes are gone and everyone has rolled the dice once more again. We like it because it is fun for all ages and I include lots of stuff like plastic tiaras and googly eye glasses that the recipient has to wear. I hope I have explained it properly :o.

Well, that's our Christmas, I thought it would not be so much fun now the girls are older but it's still fun just not so hectic. We love Christmas in this house.

When I was on holidays, (staying with family in Egypt) the littlies were desperate to open the second suitcase (thank god for Egyptair, 2 x 23 kg cases allowed!) as they knew that it was full of stuff their parents had ordered & I had bought as gifts. They were devastated when told they couldn't do it until the next day. "Ok" later I was aked what time the next day, "after breakfast" "Ok". No more about it, they are very good like that.

Next morning, the announcement was made, " I have finished my breakfast!" "Has your sister" (the worlds slowest eater!) "Oh" He doesn't know that his mum & I caught him eating half of his sister's to speed things up!:D
A smile costs little but creates much :)
  • Ah dumpling your Christmas sounds lovely, I love the idea of the pillowcase game!

We spend alternative Christmases at each of our parents, however they always follow the same format. DH, Wiggle and I sit on our bed and open our presents, then we'll have a cup of tea and some breakfast and then open the rest of the presents with everyone else. Then it'll be getting lunch ready and setting the table, then we all sit down to the big feast. In the afternoon we'll watch a bit of TV including the Queen's Speech, play some games, some have a doze then we'll have a little buffet to pick at - Turkey, ham, salad, cheese etc.

Of course we can't do much lazing around anymore now we have Wiggle, can you believe he's still just as demanding on Christmas Day?! :p We always joke that he is the most rude, selfish and self-entered person we know! :p:p His cheekiness and cuteness makes up for it though!

freespirit as others have said please don't beat yourself up, I understand it's easy to be frustrated with yourself but one day isn't going to undo all the good work you've done. Today is a new day so start again.

Oh fiesty I know it's easy for me to say but try not to get disheartened, try to focus on the positives. I know it's not easy when it comes to money and I'm sure it's frustrating having to pay for storage. When do you hope to move in? Sorry I can't remember!
