Have been AWOL for a little while but have been trying to keep up with all that has been going on.
Hello to all the newbies joining the thread and to all those returning from brief departures.
    WARNING! long post (sorry) :o

FEISTY – congratulations!! – :j I am sure you and hubby have been through the mill with everything that has been going on but how wonderful that you are finally able to share. I can’t think of more deserving people who want this so badly. So sorry about your Nan especially with all going on but I’m so glad you got to see her and she does sound like a great character indeed. I’ve no doubt she will be keeping an eye on things for you from afar. ;)

KAYA – sorry about bunny L but glad you got another one too. I think I’m having serious doubts about that nurse’s qualifications. Quite scary to think they didn’t know something as rudimentary as that especially knowing so many people have to go through that process daily.

KARRIE – congrats on new baby Oscar – How extra wonderful this Christmas and all Christmases to come will be. :D

NEWTHRIFT – our poundland did a selection of cloth and plastic placemats, coasters, tablecloths and runners and a selection of table type serving dishes/glasses etc closer to Christmas if that helps any. Hope you enjoyed your hen do.

PRINCESSKITTY – re: the shaving sticks – would he use a wee tin of some sort that you could put them inside? You know like the smokers tins for tobacco type idea? Or could you buy a new wee brush/blades/razor and cellophane them up like a wee set? Or wrap them to make it look like a cracker inside kitchen roll tube?(edited: just seen someone else had same idea)

CHRISSY G – what about a new funky towel for sun lounging? Or fav sweets that she maybe won’t be able to get while away? Sorry clutching at straws now lol and never been on a cruise.

We haven’t done much on the Christmas front as we had my hubby’s birthday to sort out first but I’m nearly getting into the swing of it for sure. Few more birthdays for family and friends and then I can concentrate on the important stuff!

It’s been a mixed couple of months – with the dog passing away on our anniversary and then when we had time off for the 12th July holidays my husbands granny passed away so when I finally took another week off for us to go away just the three of us I had hoped it would turn around. Only for me to come down, one day into 9 day holiday, with a really horribly nasty bacterial throat infection with bad fever and then to take an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. Have decided I need to stay in work and out of trouble – every time I take time off something happens.

But on the plus side – we have a new four legged furry addition to the household. Another rescue dog – called shadow. He’s only about 1 ½ years old so he’s a big gangly loon. But our munchkin and him get on the best so we are all very happy. House does not feel as empty now.

Ok I’m still catching up on last few pages so sorry if I have missed anyone but think I better call this post quits before it takes up a whole page on its own.

I'm so sorry for your furry loss, I can't begin to imagine how upset you must have been.

You've all been do busy with your Xmas purchases! I'm so behind as the blooming christmas planner is in storage 😑

We've ordered the kitcheb and bathroom, but we are looking at two months until it is finished. Slightly panicked that it's going to be a mad rush to get organised before Christmas.

Speaking of which, can anyone suggest some make ahead and free able christmas recipes?

    ?

That's no way to refer to bump, although it does sit beautifully in my mind :D

I was in Lidl this evening & picked up a 3 jar pack of chutney for 99p. I chose the chutney for cheese as it had the longest bbe date, but you may be able to get meat ones if in there. That is actually the first food I have picked up:o

    Hello from France everyone!

This trip is continuing to be eventful! The ferry was delayed getting into Calais, meaning we had to put off our planned trip to Belgium until the end of the hol. There was so much rain as we docked that it actually looked like we were going to drive into the sea as the door opened. Teenage son told me I was being idiotic when I said this and asked me to think of the design flaw if our deck opened at sea-level. :D

Woke this morning to a text from the bank saying we'd exceeded our overdraft and we had till midnight to put it right or we'd be charged! We've spent so much this past week on both back to school and holiday stuff, is why it happened. Knew there was a reason I disliked holidays during the school summer ones, but I just couldn't trust ds to revise enough for his gcse's if we'd gone Easter or may 1/2 term which is my preference! It also continued to rain all the way here to Brittany!

Anyway, it has now stopped raining, I've been paid, husband's wages go in tomorrow and thanks to paying for a few days internet connection the e bank a/c is back straigh Hopefully from tomorrow things will be better.

Loving hearing about the Christmas stock coming into the shops slowly.

    Morning all
Spendless I hope the holiday stops being eventful and fraught and starts becoming enjoyable now.

Saw some lovely stuff on Pinterest so it's really got me I the mood for Christmas now.

Last bank holiday weekend before Christmas so enjoy the long break all if you have it. My Ds went back to school yesterday so I know the end of the hols a looming for most. For me that always means the start of my serious Christmas planning.

Gettingtherequickly you made me spill my coffee laughing, (l do talk to inanimates, all the time, they don't give cheeky answers!)
Spendless, enjoy your hollie hope the weather improves and that you can do all you want to.
Freespirit, this from the lady who transformed her living room with endless patience (wood, paint, sanding, scraping, remember!)
l am only practical from necessity, and have benefitted from watching experts and being their apprentices.
These days l have to do a little and stop a lot, but the aches and pains are less today, thanks be.
had a browse through the clearance section of the Argoose and found some lovely bedding, and an umbrella stand, it will be perfect for the walking sticks as umbrellas and me are a lethal mix.
  • mrs-moneypenny I do love Pinterest! I'm actually in the process of going through all of my pins and getting rid of any i'm unlikely to do/make. I spent lots of time in the past pinning wildly and realising I wasn't doing any of it, so i'm condensing it down to the things I really love and set myself a new year challenge to do/make one Pinterest thing a month. I am a bit behind but there's more in the pipeline so it should even out by the end of the year! :p Happy pinning and making!

feisty glad to hear things are coming along with the house and you have ordered a kitchen and bathroom, it will be lovely to have them new. I know this doesn't particularly help but I've moved a couple of times just before Christmas and it was a bit manic but everything came good in the end. Take any help you can get, especially in your condition! I can't think of any make ahead recipes just off the top of my head, but I want to look into this too so will let you know what I find.

freespirit Wiggle literally eats ANYTHING and EVERYTHING! He hasn't refused anything yet. It can be smooth, lumpy, spoon fed or finger food. When I first started weaning him I did a combination of puree and finger food which worked really well, although I don't expect that's made much difference to now. From what I hear from other parents though it's likely we'll hit a fussy stage at some point! Perhaps Thumper is just having his a bit early? Keep ploughing on with it though, you know what kids are like, he'll wake up one day and scoff the lot!

Spendless don't you just love teenage wit? :p I can't believe how eventful your trip has been already, but glad everything got sorted and hopefully you can just enjoy it now.

I was amusing DH the other day as I was telling him how things start hotting up on the forum towards the end of August and how we all start reporting back on our Christmas sightings! :p This is when we come into our own. :D
  • We are trying to help out a kid who works for us, so I was having a look on line last night at cost of things in various places so, if necessary, we can get more for our money.

Anyway, was looking at Clas Ohlson (think high street Ikea if you are not familiar) and spotted that they have more Christmas stuff on sale. Not alot available on line, but local store has stock. Trotted in there this morning ( got out of work as boss needed birthday cards for his twin nieces and didn't really want to go & get them!) as I thought I would pick up mulled wine cups & Christmas serviettes which can be used by a charity I am involved in. £1 for 50 cups, £1.50 for 50 serviettes, and at the same time pick up some of the biscuit cutters. Thought I would ask one of the staff where I could find the section, only to be told, "yes we have them, but they are not on the floor. But that is not a problem, tell me what you want & I will get them for you" Bless him, off he goes and as I had mentioned they were for a charity, he gave me an additional 10% off, which I was not expecting. So a huge thumbs up for the Clas Ohlson staff.

  • 04624181 my dd4 would love the baby born dr's bed too.. no home bargains here though and they don't have it online ... shall have to keep my eye out on there for it :)

i ordered a malibu pineapple party set for my oldest daughter. she's 19 in october. was £20 for a bottle of malibu, 2 cartoons of pina colada mixer (each makes 7 drinks each) and 2 pineapple shaped cup things. I am hoping the date on the mixers will be ok until xmas. if not her bday in october.. if its short date then will have to place them in the kitchen and get some more lol.

i'm back on my diet as of today. a stone has crept on from the 4 i lost. needs to be gone before xmas if not before lol

Saw 99p shop clearing all their summer stuff away earlier. i pointed to my daughter and said ooo halloween bits out soon then.. then a guy who works there whispered shhhh xmas stuff is going out there. :O :O yay lol xmas is going to start appearing! lol

I've been a lurker for the last year or so and as a self confessed Christmas nut I'd love to join in. I have my own 4 children to buy for which are not far off being done but have another 9 children to buy for as well as the adults I buy for. I can't wait for the Xmas stuff to hit the shops so I can start shopping in earnest.
