I have to say free that back in June I read loads of Christmas books! Only problem is I think I may have depleted my stash for Christmas time, ooops!

Evening everyone, i hope you have all had a great weekend, i am really mad at myself, i have felt so fed up that i have spent money that i can ill afford  i bought a few little bits like cupcake cases, egg shell things that help you peel the shell on hard boiled eggs (i hate doing it when it doesnt come off easily), cake flavouring, all in Lakeland sale, it didnt even come to a tenner and 2 Carole Matthews books that were so cheap on The Works 1.99 each (i saved £10) again with postage didnt come to a tenner, and then today clothes for Thumper for christmas and birthday in the Tu sale  it means that i will have to really cut down on the food shops for the next two weeks and electric. I am just mad that because they were all sale items i couldnt wait until the end of the month, and budget for them and really only bought because i felt sorry for myself, oh well i really will have to go through what is in my freezers and try to use that up before i do a shopping list for next week.

STARLET glad you have had a lovely weekend celebrating :)

Free, please don't be so hard on yourself, we all do things like that sometimes. At least you got some good bargains and food is overrated anyway lol.

Sorry I haven't kept up with all the goings on, will read back soon. My broadband is back now but DH was taken into hospital at midnight on Monday, had surgery on Tuesday and is still in but on the mend now thankfully. Really bad timing because we picked up DGD on Sunday night but fortunately my sister came over in the middle of Monday night and stayed with her and my other DD had her for the day on Tuesday as I didn't get back from hospital until Tuesday evening. My sister then took her out during the afternoons so I could go to the hospital and I made sure we had some 'nanny time' during the bath/getting ready for bed/bedtime story period. Luckily she's coming again for another week in a couple of weeks so looking forward to that and hoping DH is all better by then.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

Hello I hope you don't mind me joining? I used to post in this thread, can't remember if I did last year or not...time runs away with me!

Now we've hit August I want to really get thinking about what to do for presents this year. I usually spend quite a bit on my parents because I simply love buying them things, but this year (even at their request) I'm going to be cutting back a bit. I'll probably buy the usual little bits and bobs for them that I get, but just not as many things! Will post when I find each thing :)

I have already started to pick up a couple of things. I bought a whisky marmalade set for my dad the other day for £2.99.

I have one friend which I don't really want to spend much on really... (long story but she's part of our friendship group and I have to get her something in return...) ...anyways, lol! - I stumbled across a set of candles that I was given a couple of years ago but never opened. They're quite quirky and I think she'll like them - so job done for her for £0!

My workplace had a little staff sale the other week so I was able to pick up a lovely little t-shirt and a funky hoodie for just £1 each. These will be for my friend's little boy. For the mum (my friend) I'm not sure what I'm doing yet, she's lovely but I know she won't be able to spend lots on my present so I'm happy to cut my budget for her a little more in return. I'm considering doing a little "treats bag" for her with a few bargain bits I spot e.g. some Fox's biscuits I got for 20p the other week...or I'll raid my toiletries cupboard for anything I don't need too!

I have a couple of other friends who I am happy to spend more on. Not sure what I'll get them yet. I think they usually spend about £15 on me, so I try to make my presents look that much but cost around £7-£10 instead ;) will post what I find for them as I go along too :)

    Can't wait for Christmas!!

Evening everyone, i am in a much better mood today :rotfl:i have had Thumper and he has cheered me up no end :D im also looking forward to GBBO on wednesday, i already have the ingredients lined up to make brownies that day, otherwise we end up with cake cravings after watching it :rotfl:

PEPPAPIG haha you do make me giggle, thankyou! Im so sorry about your DH i hope he is on the road to recovery, it must have been very scary for you both, what lovely family being there for you like that, you must be exhausted with worry, and trying to have a bit of nanny time with DGD, glad that she will be back soon to make up for it, sending you hugs and DH recovery vibes x

ALJA yes i remember you, welcome back, i too love giving presents that look more expensive than what i actually paid, its very satisfying :D
