I've chucked out a few tops I know I'll never wear/never wear again, so that's a bit of progress (by the time I've finished my wardrobe will be empty :rotfl:)

I did my knicker drawer on Sunday and then a few neighbouring ones. Some bits to the bin and others to CS. I think I'm going to carry on and be ruthless. There's only just so many old clothes anyone needs for gardening/DIY. Why else would you need to look like a tramp?

ellsbel, why don't you talk to your hairdresser about what sort of styles might suit you? That'll give food for thought then you can start looking around for photos to take with you next time.

I was going to ask if anyone uses any spray/mousse for blow drying hair? My hairdresser always uses one on me and it seems to keep my hair looking better longer. Any ideas?

I've been to the dentist for a check up this morning. Fortunately no problems and the scale and polish is always welcome. I've also booked in with a hygienist. never done it before but apparently it's all part of the package I have. I'm thinking of it purely cosmetically but I'm sure there will be health benefits too;).
Have a good day all. Cold but bright here.:)

I've tried in the past. Whenever the hairdresser has used mousse or any other styling product on my hair it's looked and felt really nice. When I've tried myself, even using only the small amounts which the hairdresser uses, it looks and feels claggy and needs a wash straight away, even when I've used the same products as the hairdresser, so now I don't bother.

Maman, I use a L'Oreal hair oil on towelled hair, comb it through, then spray with Charles Worthington heat protection blow-dry spray, then blow it 80% dry. Then I use 1 pump of T&G Bedhead "After Party" rubbed through and then finish with my Babyliss big hair styler. Voila, shiny bouncy hair for 2-3 days, or until the sides have gone greasy where I run my fingers through in work!

Had a chat with her this morning, and she suggested working towards a shorter bob type style. She's taken a good bit off in the meantime, but left it long enough to put up if I want. Before my next appointment though, I'm going to look for some pics to show her - she's a lovely girl, but seems to just do different length versions of the same style unless you show her something different:)

I can't get on with mousse as my hairs quite thick, and it seems to just make it even thicker as well as being quite sticky, but I love most of the heat protecting sprays and serums - they give a really sleek finish, even if I just rough dry and then straighten..it took me a couple of goes to learn that less really is more with the serum, though - I put too much on at first, and end up with hair that looked a bit lank!
Going to have a cuppa now and then fab the house a bit (sounds so much better than "do some housework", doesn't it?!)

oh I tided through my undies drawer at weekend too. Mind you, I was on the hunt for MrM's Iron Man socks which have gone AWOL. I found Thor in there though (pity not the real Thor but hey ho.

Weighed myself yesterday and have lost another 2lbs.

Am doing my other usual fabbing too.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

justamum you are more than your name says, as everyone else has said!! Start small, make little changes and add as it becomes routine then take a little time on fab friday (or a day of your choosing if one is better) to do something different. Maybe have a bath, face mask, do your nails ANYTHING YOU WANT just treat yourself :D It's a lovely bunch of ladies on here, you'll soon be fabbing as if its second nature :j;)
maman I use a serum on my hair once towel dried, just a small squirt its like a 5p size rub between my palms and put on the ends and then just ruffle through the top after. I think it's a Sassoon one but I will check when I get home. It wasn't overly cheap but as you use such a small amount it lasts ages, I have barely used anything and had it ages. You can also use a little bit after its dry to give your hair that lovely silky look :D

The usual fabbing today, no running tonight as my running buddy needed to go later but that's not ideal (I seriously need to spend an hour fabbing the house and catching up on ironing and things!!!!!) I will plan to do something at home though once I have cleaned and before tea, maybe OH will hold the boxing pads for me :p

Can anyone recommend places to check out for inexpenive costume jewellery for everyday wear please? Specifically thinking of necklaces as I don't like bracelets or rings, and can't wear ear-rings for long as I'm allergic to the nickel in them.

The only jewellery I own is expensive 'for best' stuff or the scallop shell charm I wear on a chain the rest of the time (to remind me I need to get fit to go and walk the Camino de Santiago), but as I don't wear makeup I though jewellery may be an alternative way to 'glam up' a bit.

I had time to kill while letting contact lenses 'bed in' for the optician to check earlier today, so had a quick look at the stuff I spotted in B00ts as I walked through to the optical section - they had 25% off loads, but I still wasn't keen on the prices of the couple of pieces I even vaguely liked. I then toddled off to Cl@ires, but wasn't impressed with what they had at all (the only pieces I might have worn were far too long).

Couldn't think of anywhere else in the shopping centre (other than a few very expensive department stores that I opted to bypass), so came home empty handed and with no idea of where else to try.

  • M and Co are quite good for costume jewellery and not too expensive.

I have hibernated for the last couple of days and feel so uninspired. However, I did cleanse/tone and moisturise my face this morning and then went for a swim. Planning to walk to my toning table session tonight - weather permitting.

Last night I ventured up to my local community education centre and joined the council's free 'weigh and go' service. I got lots of useful leaflets and a booklet on local walks which has maps in it. I am planning on attending this possibly weekly to start with and then going to fortnightly. I am hoping this will help me focus more on shifting some weight.
