Hi, hope that everyone is having a good weekend.

I have been keeping up with the fabbing, I wish the weather would be a bit more consistent though, we have had a few nice days, but gosh it has been cold on others:eek:

This morning I showed OH a picture of a child's rain coat that was advertised in the magazine I was reading (this one) and said that I wished that I could have one in adult size, I explained that I was sure that it would raise a smile from everyone even on the wettest of days:D I have just been watching Mo Farah on TV filmed in Beijing at the World Championships, that man smiles with the whole of his being and I was just sitting watching grinning back at him, it was so infectious. I think in repost that I have a glum face and do try to smile at people if I make eye contact, most people smile back and it is lovely to see. (I once made eye conact and smiled at the guy at the next petrol pump on a freezing cold windy night, when he emerged from the kiosk, he thanked me for my smile, he had had an awful day and it had really lifted his spirits):)

So, lovely people, no matter how tired/ill/downhearted we might feel, let us try and lift a few spirits and raise a few smiles. (Hopefully the figures for admittance to the funny farm won't raise too high if people think that we are totally nuts:rotfl:)

    Lovely post Maddie:D.

Hard to raise a smile as painter didn't turn up this morning. Somehow I had a feeling it wasn't going to happen.

Have tried calling him several times to no avail. He has good reviews on Chekkatrade so just don't understand it.

So instead, as everything is ready to go DH will paint sitting room instead. We've been to B&Q and bought paint so will start tomorrow. Poor thing is really busy and could have done without it.

I did put some make up on to go and do the food shop. Does that count as fabbing?;)

Wonderful post - Maddie...absolutely - smile, smile, smile.

Spread those smiles around and reap the rewards. Better service, friendly and meaningful encounters as you go about your daily business.

Maman - how frustrating. I hate it when tradespeople let you down without so much as a by your leave. Then they have the cheek to moan about times Being so hard etc.

tell your poor OH to think of,the money he is saving......

Perhaos you could teeat yourselves with the money youve saved - a nice night out, or a toy or gadget he would love.

Tomorrow we wil be stripping out the dining room and starting the prep - ready for our decorating marathon when DS2 breaks up on Monday.

Next weekend we will, all be mucking in at DS1s house - mops and paint rollers at the ready.......

I went over today and helped him. He was sanding down floorboards - filthy exhausting job, too heavy for me so I helped him by tidying up his work area, sorting out his tools, filling up rubbish bags for the tip.

Then I set to and watered the garden and did some weeding.

I make a good labourerer and skivvy .........

Often it's not the actual decorating that takes all the time, it's the prep work and the cleaning up afterwards that's the real pain - sloshing the paint on is the best bit.

Now that I have finally finished with dads affairs, I can finally help my boys get their houses finished. Ive not been much help to them recently but I can now finally roll my sleeves up and get stuck in.

And of course - Theres no better exercise than manual work - it'll speed up the weight loss - far better than any gym work out...:D

Maman - too bad of the decorator, what is it with some people that they cannot phone or text, ostrich mentality perhaps.

LL - try and pace yourself, don't want you to set yourself back physically, we ladies sometimes have a trait of not slowing down until we have burnt out:)

May I share my good news with you (well I will anyway:rotfl:) I haven't been well for almost a year, had lots of tests, rock bottom iron levels (on the up a little now:D) and all sorts of "funny" blood test results, seen lots of consultants/had shed loads of scans and x-rays, at my appointment with the lovely young female Haematology consultant yesterday she told OH and I that the tests are negative for bone marrow cancer and another serious condition, I now have to be referred to an immunologist, but in the meantime I am :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j (well sort of gently bouncing LOL). Still a way to go, but at least 3 nasties have been ruled out.

Maddie - wonderful news - hopefully you will get a diagnosis soon and then the correct treatment plan. In the meantime just take of yourself, healthy eating rest, etc.

don't worry I wont overdo things, ive learnt that I do need to pace myself now. No more bull at a gate........;)

    Maddie, what wonderful news :)

LL you sound positive and determined, great to hear!

Maman how frustrating, as others have said though spend the money on something lovely.

Indie I have three perfumes all of which I love!

Well I have had one of the most wonderful weekends ever :D It was filled with friends, laughter, sunshine and new experiences which has left me feeling refreshed and ready for new challenges.

One of my friends I have not seen for a few months and she has dropped two dress sizes and looks phenomenal :) It was not just the weight loss that I noticed but the confidence and joy she oozed. So I am determined to overhaul my life so that I can feel that way too. My challenge is to have dropped a dress size by October. I can do this :j

That's great to hear rummer as you so often have stressful times to report.

Rooting for you dropping that dress size. I can empathise with your friend oozing confidence. It's so worth making the effort and good for health too.:)

DH has painted all the walls and they're drying off nicely. Woodwork planned for tomorrow.

    Hi Everyone,

I have caught up with this thread. I haven't been around much for the past few days as I've had a sickness bug. I still have it, but I had to drag myself into work for a meeting I couldn't get out of. Luckily, it finishes mid afternoon, so I'll go home afterwards.

On the plus side, I'm fabbed up, as I look really unwell, otherwise.

    Feel better soon chanie
So glad you've had good news re: your tests maddie you must be so relieved:)
maman how incredibly frustrating that your painter left you in the lurch - it's so discourteous when they can't let you know they're not going to turn up - not the first time it's been discussed on here, I know, but it makes me think there must be a lot of tradespeople out there who have work coming out of their ears if they can afford to burn their bridges like this!
Glad your OH was able to step in and get it done.
rummer good luck on your challenge! You've inspired me to do the same! Only I'm going for three dress sizes by Christmas!! Should be doable if I keep focussed:)
Going to have some (healthy) late breakfast now and then shower and fabbing - the weather is absolutely awful today so a late start for me.

Have a good day everyone x
