The link posted by stclair says that the Northumberland Street branch has a cash and cheque deposit machine; just wondering if anyone knows if it accepts coins?
If not, I will try and take a walk along one lunch time to check it out.
I would like to know this also as this seems to be my nearest branch with a deposit machine. Don't want to haul £50 of copper up if the machine doesn't take it.0 -
I know of no bank branch that offers this facility to customers directly. Those that need it will already have their own machines. An alternative is the CoinStar machines located in many major supermarkets which which (for a small %) count and provide a credit voucher for the coins deposited.0

Not small % at all when you have £50 of copper to deposit/change.0 -

It might be an idea to either visit the branch first minus the copper or call telephone banking during branch hours and they call the branch for you to confirm.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Coin counting machines? HSBC have had them available for customer use for years - as demonstrated here - just use your debit card (or input your account details) and the credit immediately applies to your account. Someone once posted a list but its years out of date so I expect a lot more are now available.
Other banks (NatWest, Barclays) have since followed suit but I don't think they have as many as HSBC.An alternative is the CoinStar machines located in many major supermarkets which which (for a small %) count and provide a credit voucher for the coins deposited.

Youll find the larger branches of Natwest have the Cash & cheque deposit machines.
The branch locator tells you which branches have them:
http://locator.natwest.com/resultsAre you sure that's the right type of machine? Mine suggests my local branch has one but I'm fairly sure it's a cash deposit envelope machine for notes, not a slot machine for coins?
I may well be wrong as I haven't banked with Natwest for about 6 months now.
According to the link, my local branch has a cash & cheque deposit machine, but it definitely doesn't take coins.
I think we can assume if the branch isn't on the list it won't have such a machine, but if it is on the list it may or may not.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Just to add to the discussion, when I went into my local Natwest branch they have two machines right next to each other. They were both deposit machines, and looked almost identical. The first one was for cash and cheques, the second machine was for cash, cheques and coins.
I would imagine there used to be just the one machine and the one with the coin section has been added later.0 -

it doesn't make any difference whether it's $5, £50 pr £500 pounds in copper to change, Coinstar charge 9.9% as their website clearly states

paying 9.9% seems madness to me...either you want your own money into your own bank account, or you want to be lovely, like SailorSam, and give it to charity:)
and other than Solihull, gt94sss2, im not aware of an HSBC branch in the West Midlands that has a coin machine. and i'm not aware of any Barclays, Lloyds or RBS machines. any of these would be useful to me, especially Central Birmingham...if anyone can point me in the right direction.0 -
