Do Natwest have machines for depositing coins?

Hi there

Do Natwest have machines in their branches for depositing coins into a current account? I have loads of change in a money box that I've been saving and I want to cash it in.

I used to use the coinstar machines in Tesco but they take a % of the funds.

Thanks very much

I don't think so. If you want to bank it without paying a fee to Coinstar you're going to have to go old school and count it out into the money bags you get from the bank.

To me, the bagging is almost as fun as pouring into coinstar!

some of them do. St Phillips Square, Birmingham does.
for HSBC, one of the banks i bank with, i would have to go to Solihull if i wanted to do that.
  • Thanks both. Looks like I'd better get some coin bags!
  • My local one does. They are at the 'pay in yourself' machines. HSBC also.

In Manchester, both Natwest and Barclays have these machines. Tbf Natwest don't have machines in as many branches as Barclays.

Youll find the larger branches of Natwest have the Cash & cheque deposit machines.

The branch locator tells you which branches have them:

Are you sure that's the right type of machine? Mine suggests my local branch has one but I'm fairly sure it's a cash deposit envelope machine for notes, not a slot machine for coins?

I may well be wrong as I haven't banked with Natwest for about 6 months now.

I could be wrong but that's my understanding.

  • There is a coin depositing machine in Natwest main branch in Stockport town centre, it's very useful & doesn't steal a %!
I'm sure they have them in most large town centre branches as it saves the cashier counting them out.

An alternative if you buy stuff from supermarkets is some of the self-service machines. Morrisons I think has a small basket / bowl type thing that you can pour change into. It doesn't give you cash in your current account but gives you 'face value' for your coins.
