Mail Plus, Daily Mail, MOS, Kindle - is it a scam?

I'd try a few more times with Daily Mail and see if you can get anywhere.
If not, perhaps try your MP or the Advertising Standards Agency. I'd say if DM can't provide clear reasons as to why the tablet you got is updated, that is false advertising.0 -

One solution could be for you to report these ruthless and heartless scammers to your MP or local councillor, or perhaps take legal action and sue them. If you don't get justice you so obviously , in the Uk legal sustem then take them to the European court.
Are you by any chance disabled ?

I think the offer is very poor anyway, considering you can get a DM app free on Android devices. Its not the same as the full DM app granted, but its 95% as good.0

If it blocks all Daily Fail articles then it'll be a great app.
OP - why not contact a rival paper like the Daily Mirror about this? Chances are they'd love an opportunity to stir it with the DM.0 -

After discussing your case with our senior agents, we have concluded that at no point did we specify which model of Kindle you will be receiving.
Customers who purchased a second Kindle offer were informed they would recive a new Kindle, however we did not say it would be the newest Kindle model.
This is the offer I paid for
"Just pay £119.88 and we'll send you a newer version of the Kindle Fire HD 7" 8GB device we gave you last year."
You can see from previous helpful messages that their is no newer version apart from the latest model with the cameras.
It is a con isn't it?
This is the way they repay their customers for their loyalty.0 -
Dear Luke,
You are correct - you did not say you would provide the newest Kindle model. However you did say the following:
"Just pay £119.88 and we'll send you a newer version of the Kindle Fire HD 7" 8GB device we gave you last year."
The model you have sent is not newer than the previous one I received, therefore you have breached the terms of the contract, Thus I demand that you either:
1) Send me a newer model of Kindle, or
2) Rescind the contract and refund to me all monies paid for the renewal.
I require your action on either of the above by Jan 9th 2015. Please treat this correspondence as my Letter Before Action, in advance of any court proceedings being issued to reach a satisfactory conclusion.0 -

I'm wondering if my bank can do a chargeback on it so I'll look at that first and maybe save me a lot of hassle.
Also, maybe the Daily Express or other papers have a money or legal section that will be interested in taking this up
I'm almost ashamed to admit that I've taken the Mail and Mail on Sunday for 40 years. So much for customer loyalty0 -
Technically it is newer as the one the OP has is a year old..0

I've posted previously on this as a question, now it seems appropriate to post it again as a scam.
The Mail Group offer I accepted was this
"Just pay £119.88 and we'll send you a newer version of the Kindle Fire HD 7" 8GB device we gave you last year."
But they actually sent the same model and when I complained they tried to fob me off saying that it was free anyway and they didn't specify what model they would send.
"After discussing your case with our senior agents, we have concluded that at no point did we specify which model of Kindle you will be receiving.
Customers who purchased a second Kindle offer were informed they would recive (sic) a new Kindle, however we did not say it would be the newest Kindle model".
I suggest it pays to be very cautious when dealing with the Mail Group, they seem to want your money regardless and then use weasel words to keep it, rather than seek customer satisfaction.0
