BEWARE - IS THIS A SCAM?
I accepted last year's deal for a "Free" Kindle for a year's subscription that has now ended and was sent a renewal offer of
"Just pay £119.88 and we'll send you a newer version of the Kindle Fire HD 7" 8GB device we gave you last year."
I received an identical model, same "Third Generation Build" and storage capacity, so I contacted Mail Plus and asked for the upgraded model or a refund.
Mail Plus (Luke Richards) insists that "The latest Kindle you received has updated software and the format has also been redesigned."
I maintain that there is no significant difference but Mail Plus disagrees, although they can't seem to specify what the updates are.
I'm a pensioner and feel I have been conned by the Mail.
Any advice would be welcomed

So exactly what Kindle were you supplied with 12 months ago?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
-
Third generation Kindle Fire HD, the one without a camera0
-
Latest 7" Kindle Fire HD 8gb is £99 on Amazon. Is this the one you've been sent?0
-
Says here Third Generation came out Sept 2014
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kindle_Fire_HD
It has quad core processor and camera, there doesn't seem to be a Third Generation with no camera.
So the one the OP had from last year is not Third Generation, so Daily Mail are correct.0 -

Mail Plus said to swipe down into settings, click device and see what generation is shown.
They are both identical "Third Generation".
I can only think that Wikipedia is wrong as the evidence is plain to see.
I'll post the photo of them together if someone can tell me how to upload it.0 -

So sorry, but Mail isn't correct0 -
Info from eBay, there are 2 models that are both designated 3rd generation
http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/How-to-Use-the-Kindle-Fire-HD-Camera-/10000000178372211/g.html
Kindle Fire HD 7-inch (3rd gen) - no camera
Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch (3rd gen) - with camera
Review compares the HDX and the HD
http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/tablets/amazon-kindle-fire-hdx-7-1199353/review#null
but that must be the 2nd generation HD in that review as the 3rd generation HD looks like the HDX
HD 3rd generation press release
http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=176060&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1857758&highlight=- High-definition display with 1280x800 resolution and 216 pixels per inch, making movies, TV shows, books and games vivid and detailed. 66% more pixels than the previous generation Kindle Fire.
- Powerful, dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, 60% faster than the previous generation Kindle Fire.
- Dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus audio—the standard in high-end audio.
- All-new slim design that matches the look and feel of the new Kindle Fire HDX.
The Mail offer is for a newer version HD - there isn't one. OP is correct.0 -

So anyone have any advice please on what to do seeing Mail is unwilling to do anything?0
