When do you stop giving Christmas presents?

I will buy for my nieces and nephews until they have their own children and then I will buy for their children, if they don't have little ones, then I shall just continue to buy for them.
My oldest niece is going to be 18 3 days after Christmas and she has been included as per normal. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
We don't buy for any adults, and only 2 or 3 of our 5 nieces and nephews (aged between 1 and 3). I'd be extremely surprised if we're still buying for them at 18.
DD (4) only gets token gifts from us and grandparents. We don't do santa (or xmas, really).Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
My kids have a great aunt who has grand rules about present giving that she devised to be fair to all concerned, so my boys (now 24 and 20) get a little net of chocolate coins. Something to do with the number of people on our side of the family that she buys for, their relationship to her within that group, who has kids of their own and who doesn't etc. Causes great amusement, especially as they were on the Terry's chocolate orange tier a few years ago until demoted.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. When that first single present arrived that was signed from the entire family rather than the previous multiple small gifts from its individuals, then it was all over.0 -
I have 16 nieces and nephews. I tend to get chocolates and give a card with some money in it to the ones under 18. But I hated leaving the older ones out and give them a card with a Starbucks/nandos voucher in it. They are at uni so I hope it comes in handy. I don't know when I will stop. Ironically their parents no longer give to our adult children.0

I tend to buy a collective gift of chocolates/biscuits/sweets etc which I then make sure is at my SIL house for all the neices and nephews to have a little of whilst they visit over christmas....my neices and nephews are now all in their 20's,some with kids of their own...
However what does niggle me is there is never a thank you or even a christmas card in return..same for birthdays..i send but nothing is ever received....Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

I doubt there is a regular member on here who does not know that, tbh.
I'm still looking forward to the "anything to do with Santa" thread that goes on for 15 pages. I've bought the popcorn.0 -
It really depends on the family circumstances. On my mum's side me and my sister are the youngest so tend to still get christmas presents even though my mum stopped buying for my cousins when they turned 18.
However on my dad's side we are the oldest and presents stopped at 18. My youngest cousin on that side is much younger than us and will probably end up getting presents from all his big cousins and their parents for much longer.
The way I see it is I enjoy giving people I love presents so if I can afford it then I will.0 -
I think it depends on each family (and potentially down to the size of those families)
My dad's family I never remember getting presents off of aunts and uncles (there are over 30 of first cousins), my mum's we did until we were 18 (only 9 cousins) - now just cards, my husband's family he has one aunt and she still buys presents for everyone - but there are only 3 of them and she doesn't have children0 -
