I'm just back from shopping & had a rummage round the charity shops, I got 2 books for hubby a Minette Walters & a biography of Ronnie O'Sullivan, I also got a beautiful square bowl for my sewing room, I just wanted something to drop pins & beads in to stop them rolling off the desk,it's bigger than I need but is beautiful & was so cheap I couldn't resist it.
I got a boned breast of lamb from the butchers for £2.60 so I'll cook it in the remouska tomorrow along with some potatoes & spring greens.
Sorry can't remember who was doing cross stitch on Navy fabric, I used to do a lot of cross stitch until my eyesight deteriorated, I found if I put a white towel or teatowel over my lap it made it easier to do.

Hullo all!!!
Just a quick post, I'm so excited, got a wedding to go to this afternoon!! My boyfriend's brother is getting married and boyf is best man, looks so dapper in his suit.
The wedding will be a Swedish wedding and I've never been to a Swedish one before so will be interesting to see what it is like. We've all been really busy sorting out the room etc, looks so nice. I'm really tired though, hardly slept for some reason, kept waking up. Might have a disco nap this arvo if I get a chance.

Hiya - just sat down with a coffee.
Happy Birthday to Master Thriftlady - have a great day.
JULIAPENGUIN - you could always customise your shopping trolley to make it look funky. I know the 'cow' one you would like but it is so expensive, isn't it?
CSARINA - OH's been gone two nights and I've had two nights unbroken sleep! I always thought I was an insomniac but now I know it's his fault I wake up in the night. He's 6'4" and I'm 5'4" so I end up with just a corner of the bed; he's got legs like Basil Fawlty which just seem to get in the way and his knees wave about so there's always a draft; he snores - which, luckily, doesn't irritate me (and I've minimised it by buying him some Breathe-Right strips) and when he turns over, it always makes me think of Hunny Monster - it feels like an earthquake! So - methinks separate beds would be a good idea and, maybe, separate rooms! After all, separate houses seems to be working at the moment!
This morning, I did a minimal food shop but I cheated and bought half a cooked chicken (that's what happens when you shop when you're hungry!) but it will last me a couple of days. I'll do salad and jackets with it tonight. It cost £1.99 so I think it was good value if not really OS.
I visited a few charity shops and bought two books - one is the Oxford Book of Verse and the other is a Dictionary of Idioms - buy one, get one free. I bought two skirts - one will be ideal if I decide to go dressed as a cowgirl to the fancy dress party we've been invited to in France in October, but I had already decided to go as an Indian squaw because I already have all the gear for that. Maybe I'll change half way through the evening!
Anyway, when I'd finished all the shopping and put it away, it was still only 10.30 so I decided to visit the gym (Curves) - it was almost empty - just two of us on the equipment! So we had undivided attention from the 'girl in the middle' who is super fit and really encouraging. There's one piece of equipment that I really hate and I've only been five times! Still, I really enjoy it and get a real buzz - especially at the end!
Well, the sky really darkened just now so I've bought the washing in and now the sun has come back out! I know I should really mow the lawn but I simply can't be bothered!
Must decide what to do for lunch so see you all later.

Hello everyone!
<<JackieO>> Love reading your accounts!
Very successful trip to Oxford today. Have decided to wait until March to get chooks, but I will order their home, accessories, and the chooks themselves well in advance. I haven't decided yet whether to get two of the chooks from Omlet; if so I'll get four in total; if not I might only get three. Still trying to choose the other breeds. In some respects it would be easier NOT to get the ones from them (as I want all my girls to go into their new home on the same day) but they do look like good reliable starter hens. We'll see.
I need to cluck (!) up courage to talk to our adjoining next door neighbour to let her know we're thinking about chooks.
The lady we saw had an eggselent (couldn't resist, sorry) set up, and she doesn't move her henhouse around. That actually makes it much easier, and I think we could replicate what she has done...but the bad news is we will probably need to put a proper fence down the back of the garden. Not to keep the hens in, but to keep them away from prying eyes. Trouble is if we put a fence along there, we'll lose quite a lot of our fruit (damsons, plums, elderflowers). If I wait til November before doing the fence then it might not be so heartbreaking.
Been out in the garden since we got back, pruning out the blackcurrants, cutting down the fruited raspberries and pruning the gooseberries. We need to widen the fruit cage in the Autumn.. there's just so much to do!
Well, better get on. <<hugs>> to anyone who would like one.

Hi all,
Got up at 7:10am, not 6:30am as I had hoped but was too tired. Dug out some 'bags for life' bags to take with me later when we go for our monthly shop and £10 of coupons to be used by end of July.
Put a washing on hung it all inside. Did the dishes and put out various rubbish into the recycling bins. DS (2 1/2) woke up so got him dressed and washed. Had porriage for breakfast. Washed all the dishes. DH eventually got up at 10am reluctantly. Got showered and dressed then made the bed. Went out to do our monthly food shopping at Tesco.
Filled up £15 of petrol, spent £84.22 on shopping which included a large box of Persil Non bio (25% extra free) which should last us until the rest of this year as I still have a box to use up. Additionally, I spent £4.90 on magazines and DH spent £5.70 on beer which doesn't get included in our monthly shop. Used my £10 worth of coupons so my total spend was only £37.01. Went to customer services to add my various extra points vouchers which I forgot to use and also the 15 point receipt I had from last week.
Had some home made soup for lunch after helping to unpack the shopping. DH is away to see his sick granddad. Anyway DH has kindly left me the pile of lunch dishes to attend to so I’ll do that and then hoover I think.Tesco points: 101 (£21.50, £19.50, £7.50, £21 & £5)
Boots points: £0.28
Pigsback points: 715 (4 xBoots£10 & 1 xPizzaHut£10, 2 x £10 clothing vouchers)

I've just sat down with a coffee at last too. I'm on my 3rd load of washing now. Why is it the second that you finish putting stuff out on the line, the rain clouds appear as if like magic!
It's clearing up now and turning out to be quite a sunny day here. I've been to asda and tesco for the weekly shop and going to make some HM soup soon (I know it's summer but really fancy some soup)
OH bending my ear about adding Setanta on to our Sky - I must be strong, I must be strong. £100 for the season - he's having a laugh! :rotfl:
PS Moiliere - I sleep fantastic when I have the bed all to myself but OH sleeps rubbish when I'm not there - He must like that I steal 2/3 of the bed and most of the duvet!Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
Very exciting morning in town:
- I was able to pay for all my £3.90ish shopping in WHS with my points. Very odd as I only had 39 pts last time I looked. Didn't complain though!
- Still some useful things in Mr B's sale, inc reduced Natural collection sets which came up as buy 1 get 1 half price. DD has started a present box for college, so will be delighted.
- found 29p (5 coins) while walking through the car park.
- anti-bacterial hand wash is bogof in Mr T's. OM and I split up and each used a 'spend £2 get 50 pts voucher'. 100 pts = £4 in holiday 2008 deals!
- OM found an 18 collar shirt and tie set in M&S for £5
Certainly makes up for yesterday!
OM is off to the tip with junk from the garage and I am going to start packing while boys' bedding dries on the line.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
