Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th june. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
I can't sleep, so I've come on here. Don't know why; my eyes just popped open!
Had beef stew from the pressure cooker last night. It was good but I still think I get better flavour when I braise the meat. Rest gone in teh freezer cause if its nice we are going to see a play outside tonight and take a picnic.
Also made sourdough pancake batter for this morning, I've found its better after sitting in the fridge.
Just watched the cat pull the door open that houses the meters. She must have heard something in there!
(((HUGS))) to any who need one, and good morning all!
JUst realized after I posted, of course it's JULY, not JUNE!!

odds-n-sods and all to follow,
Well I have not been to bed yet, we had world war 3 outside at midnight along the lines of "come out you !!!!!!" followed by much drunken abuse, a dented car and the sound of breaking glass, consequence - 1 LO wide awake and now intemittently screaming the place down as he wants to come down and watch Roary, DS1 wide awake and complaining and me several more largers the worse for wear. Hence the snapshot above of my head in the morning.
Things are not too brilliant back here at the Smoky household, OH - who has slept through the lot - is back on 40mg frousemide as his right lung is half full of fluid (appprox - GP exam) and has had to have an x-ray to which we await the result, his GP has told him that he is now concerned that he could be slipping in to heart failure and is pushing for a quicker appt. with the cardiac team.
Otherwise I suppose we are ticking along. The freezers are pretty full at the mo. the house is clean - flea ridden though, I got bitten the other day and found a couple on my sheepskin rug and so combed the cats - OH MY GOD!!!, the poor beggars. Bad mummy moment, I have never seen so many fleas on them. All three have been treated and I am hoping that this will clear the problem. Why is it no one else gets bitten but me???
to anyone in need and also belated birthday wishes to those of you I have missed.
LO has finally stopped crying and is asleep, best try and get some zzds myself.
Have a good weekend all,
Smoky. xxxxxIf you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

Morning ODDSNSODS and SMOKYBABE- hope you make up for lost sleep soon. I'm definitely sleeping better with DH away but I don't think I can get away with suggesting it as a permanent anti-insominia treatment! I think the weather looks good at the moment - hard to tell in this half-light but fingers crossed!
DLB - Happy Anniversary to you and Mr DLB and Happy Birthday to him tomorrow!
I have taken it easy since DH left for France on Thursday, mainly because it had been a hectic few days leading up to his going, but I am now on a mission to tick off all the jobs I have lined up- my only problem is that I'm not used to having such a lot of spare uninterrupted time without the subtle accusations of husband-neglect, that I will find it hard to drag myself away from here!
Plan today is food shopping but that won't take long - I have a minimal list because I'm using up stuff from the freezer and cupboards; then I'll do some charity shopping. I plan a freezer inventory and I need to reorganise the freezer shelves so that I know where everything is instead of having to get it all out when I am looking for something. I shall also make a big casserole today which I can freeze down to give me some 'ready-meals' for the next couple of weeks. I have family coming to stay the night on Wednesday so I need to decide what to do for dinner that night. Wow, I'm tired already!
I've written out a list of all the things I want to get done and it's getting longer and longer! Still, baby steps and all that!
Going to have a another cuppa so will come back later. Have a great day and (((hugs))) to all in need.

Morning. Dry here at the moment.. I am planning a BBQ tonight, so i hope it stays that way.
Yesterday was proffitable in that I managed to get 7 trailor loads of firewood. I have a huge pile now in the garden. I guess I don't need that much as I have only have an open fire and don't need to burn wood for the central heating. But I am working on an alternative boiler system anyway as oil is too darn expensive.
Sis in law is coming up today, they are planning on taking some wood away, so that will help them too.
Found a bird yesterday that was mauled by a cat, it seem to be ok appart from having almost no feathers on it. I put it in a cage to see if it will recover and be able to fly again.
Well off to get a paper now... cheers everyoneNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Good Morning odd & sods ,smokybabe and Moiliere, well it's bright and sunny here in North Kent, and I have my sis-in-law here for a long weekend .:j
On Thursday I did my bone-scan at the hospital .It didn't hurt but it was a bit uncomfortable. You are told to drink as much water as possible so the tracer can get around you body then after three hours you are strapped to a very long thin table and slowly moved into a sargophagus-type thing. At that moment you realise after being told not to move a muscle for 45 minutes that
a. your body is nowhere near as thin as the table so you overlap on either side
b. you want to sctratch your nose, or at least sneeze
c. you are in desperate need of the loo and wish you hadnn't drunck so much water
d. you would rather be anywhere else than strapped to this da**ed table.
It's got to be the longest 45 minutes in history .After you have been photographed in places that you couldn't imagine they finally unstrap you and although I have somewhat limited mobility because of arthritis I almost flew down the hall to the nearest loo. It was like the relief on Maefaking ..:rotfl:
Anyway thats the last ,hopefully of my tests before I go in for my op. So now it's just on the countdown until 9th August.
I have had so many photos taken of my thupennies I was thinking that perhaps I could get copies and put them on YouTube.I thought perhaps under the title of 'Jacks Baps' or a before and after called 'Now you see it, now you don't'
My youngest DD thought it was a good idea, but eldest DD wasn't amused at all. No sense of humour that one
She is down in Devon at the moment with her husband and children ,she is being royally treated by the staff of the hotel where she is staying so I am pleased that she is having a good rest.
Yesterday I went with youngest DD and tribe of five to Bedgbury Pinetum in Goudhust
We had a great day out and Tess and the two eldest got some bikes and a couble of trailers for the three little boys to ride in and I had whats called a Tramper which is an electric mobility vehicle which the little ones all wanted to have a rde on with me .We had a smashing day out and a picnic, very OS and money saving.
Today I am off to London at lunchtime with Sis-in -law we are going to see The Mousetrap' preceeded by a decent lunch at an Italian restaraunt that I know in Victoria, not so OS but it is a treat for us to go up to town for the day.No too much Vino Collapsio or I will sleep through the performance:rotfl: I hope you all have a lovely week-end and Smokeybabe your DH gets sorted out soon, you must be worried sick you poor thing.
Moiliere you take advantage of spoiling yourself whilst on your own .Don't forget to put your feet up and relax. <<hugs to those in need>> and big smiles to the rest of you
Take care all see you later0 -

Good Morning
It's sunny here in Berkshire at the moment, I've just dropped hubby at the station, we had a lie in, he didn't have to get the train till 6:57, so we got up at 6, we usually get up just after 5.
I have loads to do for the rest of the day, I msut finish my sewing & vac round the floor, I dropped a bag of rice yesterday when I was filling the rice bags!!!
I'm going for a rummage through the local charity shops to look for some more books for hubby & I need some more fabric with purple or lilac on for my rice/lavender bags.
Fingers crossed for Smokey's DH & big hugs for JackieO, we have neighbours who like to have a fight at night sometimes & it's so annoying to get woken up by them.
The kettle is calling & I need another cuppa.
Hugs Hester
PS Spam? I've not had it, odds, I'll let you know if I do.

Hi all. Was a bit confused when I saw the date, isn't it July now?:rotfl: :rotfl:
Sunny here at the mo, so might get some washing on the line, about the first time in a month. OH got up with me at 6, which I didn't really mind, except that I enjoy those few moments by myself with a coffee, starts my day off nice and quietly. Oh well.
Only 10 days until we go to Italy so I have a lot of sewing to do today, have made three lightweight cotton tops to take so far and have another one to finish off. It's been great, actually doing something for me for a change.
Might treat us to a cooked breakfast as we have a couple of sausages left over from our dinner on Thurs. No idea about the rest of the day's meals:rotfl: will just leave it to the others to decide how hungry they are.
Have a great day everyone. Hugs to Jackie and Smokybabe, and to anyone else who needs one.

JACKIEO - :A :A You are a real tonic! I laughed and laughed at your account of what must have been a pretty awful experience! You are going to whizz through this with flying colours and the upbeat positive way you are dealing with it will bring enormous comfort to anyone else going through the same. Have a great day - you deserve it. (((hugs))) to you and your lovely family.
