count me in. first time and desperately need to start realising what I am spending. I think my downfall is those extra wee trips into the shops. Always come out with more than I need to!
2 adults, 2 kids. I'm gonna go for a £200 budget this month. Will be interesting.....:-)0 -
Now this is a challenge I could really do with! One of the things we always overspend on is shopping. Last month we spent over £400 - which is a bit mental really. This month (from 1st to 31st August) I'm aiming for between £200 - £250 and thats for 2 adults, 2 children and a goldfish! Wish me luck!DFW Nerd Number 592 :hello:

April Grocery Challenge: £250 :rolleyes:0 -
Good luck all...
Having had what can only be described as a seriously naughty month! I think we need to get back on track... there are 2 of us and a dog and 2 cats. However the MIL is coming down soon for a day and I think we have a couple of dinners planned too... So my aim for the 2 of us is £200 with everything! SO that's MIL visit, dinner parties etc and dog food and cat food...
I'll be digging out some glass jars later and dividing my £200 as follows
Week 1 £35
Week 2 £35
Week 3 £35
Week 4 £35
Treats £60 (split into 4 though... so £15 a week)
Any we don't spend that week will go into the treat jar and either spent on a nice treat or stuck back in savings
As at the moment I'll be unemployed on the 17th if nothing comes up then getting the budgeting sorted NOW is vital...
Wish me luck gang!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I'll join. Never seem to reach target but we are going on holiday at the end of the month and it's self catering (UK) so need to make sure we have some money left to take some food with us or buy some there
Already spent £100 of my £200 budget so will have to be strict but OH we now have the kids for an extra day each week (we already have them the whole weekend every weekend) so that will mean I have to stretch my food budget even further this month as they are on holidays and will be eating all day.
Plus we have been eating healthily but unfortunately that seems to mean we have been spending £15+ a week on extra fruit and veg and £10 a week on OH's low fat brand name cereal.
On the other hand we haven't bought any cakes, biscuits or choc chips to do baking, and the eggs aren't being used up nearly so quicklyworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Done my meal plan for the first 12 days of the month and order what I need. Tesco order to be delivered Wed 1st and comes to £74.58 before reductions due to BOGOF. Also used a code for 1000 extra points for £40 worth of deals.
Shop included washing powder & softner, soda crystals, zoflora, loo rolls, handwash and pork mince for batch of burgers for freezer. Also some other items that will do later in the month and enough milk to pop in freezer to last till next shop. I will not go into somerfields - lol.
Got top up of the baking ingredients too so should keep us supplied with goodies so no-one feels deprived.
Fingers crossed!0 -
Went shopping today and managed to only buy what was on the list :T
First time i have done that for a while so a good start for the month ahead.

You can count me in too, aiming to start tomorrow (payday). Will only be playing for the first half of the month as away for the second half. Have already got quite a bit in the cupboards so aiming for £50 for two adults. Have a distinct tendency to overspead when it comes to food so i might get the money out of the bank and actually put it into a jar - hopefully i'll be much less likely to spend it!House Deposit Fund: £16,367.97 Target: [strike]£10,000[/strike] £15,000
Woo hoo! Blasted it :T
Holiday Fund: £1904.96, ISA: £6300, Other Savings Pots: £1292.35

My very first grocery challenge :T
I think a good goal for me to start with would probably be £350 for the month which will also include pet food, health/beauty items, cleaning and paper products etc . . . have never really paid attention to what was being spent (how things get out of hand) but for August I vow to keep track of EVERYTHING  And continue chanting my new mantra - "Lists and menus are my friends"
Let August begin!!

We're doing a bit of a storecupboard challenge at the minute and there's not a lot left so we'll need to restock a few staples which have run out.
I'm aiming for £80 for the month for the two of us + 2 cats (although the cats live on dry food bought by the sackload from Costco so their food costs a measly £3 per month!!). That budget will cover food, toiletries and cleaning products.
We were very lucky to have received 6no 12 roll packs of Kleenex Quilted loo roll and 12 kitchen rolls from my brother who got them from his factory shop so that'll last us a good while!!
I'm hoping to increase my use of pulses this month, I really want to learn how to cook more Indian food cos lentils are cheap as anything so that's my goal to bring the budget down a bit.0 -
Had a bad month last month - unexpected visitor for a fortnight so I'm going to try again this month. It is the school hols though so I will aim for £400 and think I've done well if I manage it - wish me luck and the same to you all!
