    Evening all,

Need to get back on track abit as seriously overspent in July (£280), I could make loads of excuses to justify the £50 overspend but won't

August budget is £230 which runs from 31/07 - 30/08 to feed 3 x adults & 1 child for breakfast, lunch and evening meal, cleaning materials, washing powder and loo rolls.

I don't shop in Supermarkets as I prefer to support my local independent trader.

I'm going to jump in on this one to give me some extra 'oomph' as it's a seriously tight month. We've got tons of stuff in, though, and I've got a mealplan for the whole of August, so.. here goes... 40 quid for 2 (veggie) adults and 3 cats.

I've been down to 70 quid for the last 2 months, and the cupboards and freezer are well stocked (and the garden has started producing) so should be do-able. Here's hoping.

    Good luck all...

  • Well I have made a start and have spent £80 so far for month. I have allowed £160 again but I do plan to trim at least £10 from this if possible. Plan to make my own pizza's and more soup dishes. It helps that Lydl are still selling their fruit and veggies so cheap as we eat a lot of salad and o/h takes at least five pieces of fruit to work each day. Stocked up on cereal for him on special offers and have found a poundland that even sells my favourite shampoo. :j . Apart from saving dosh the side effect of all this is I am becoming a good cook at last. I hate cooking and would not try anything new but now am cooking from scratch every day.:T When the bowls season finishes I will batch cook and freeze more.
  • I'm in again. Didn't find this very difficult this month so am going to cut my budget by £10 to £240. Will be more difficult as kids will go back to school half way during this month( Scotland) and I will be at home with them for 2 weeks prior to that so my mum will not be feeding them for me;) . Will need to be canny with the cash. Will buy in loads of cheap snack type things for them and make lots of soup etc. I have a delivery coming on Tuesday from ASDA so will start then. Good luck everyone xx

Joining back in with this again for first time in ages.:o

Im aiming for £80 this month... between 1st august and 31st.

BUT I still have £20 of julys budget left!! Thanks to being sent on a training course the weekend ending 1st july for scouts. They allowed £10 per person for the food for the weekend (included in the cost of the course which i didnt have to pay for ;) ..) So cos of my friends really savvy buying and her using all except 1p of our groups budget :rotfl: we had LOADS of food left over come hometime sunday so the instructor told us not to waste it and share it out between us.... so i got 2 huge carrier bags of groceries for free!!!! :j :j

This means the £20 i have left i can use today/tomorrow to buy some of the fresh bits and pieced i need.... which should last rest of the week.... and TECHNICALLY im still spending that money in July so doesnt come out of that £80! :p:D So hopefully i should come in on budget in August despite running down my freezer/storecupboard to almost bare last week or two and needing to do a big stockup during this month. :T

Verdana If you read my post you will see that I hated cooking but this has turned me into a cook. I found making meal plans very helpful as I bought my supplies in advance, something I never did before, also the recipes and suggestions on here helped. Best of luck

Another low income month for us, so £150 for 4 + cat will have to be the target. I will be putting the money in a jar again so it is easier to keep track - if it ain't in the jar, we can't have it!!

Good luck to everyone, best go and make a storecupbard meal plan now!!
