I'm both impressed and sceptical.
I was working today. But yeah it was good to have the break even if I didn't really know what to do with myself most of the time. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

About what?scubaangel wrote: »I was working today. But yeah it was good to have the break even if I didn't really know what to do with myself most of the time.
Perhaps you could have a plan for such things?
Something along the lines of:
If "Surprise 2 day holiday" then "ring selection of friends who can cope with me turning up at short notice until one of them doesn't panic""Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'
"Blowing your mind, 'cause you know what you'll find, when you're looking for things in the sky." OMD 'Julia's Song'0 -
That list would be incredibly short since most of them have boring grown up jobs which don't match up well with Scuba turning up with wine for a few days.
The friend I'm dog sitting for would have normally been my go to, or the guy I visited the other week but he was out of the country working until this evening.
Plus driving anywhere would have meant putting petrol in the car which would cost money I'm trying to avoid spending.
Hence sitting in the flat, putting up a few pictures, "sorting" the CD collection and what needs to be put on the Sony system and not least reading although despite my best effort I've failed to make enough space in the to read boxes for hte books that have been delivered this week. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Am back at my friends house dog sitting but I think I'll be going home after I feed her. The baby has finally been evicted, Mum and Sprog are healthy - albeit Mum looks high as a kite in the photo I've been sent.
If I do go home I'll try to drag myself out for a run before it gets dark. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

It's the drugs. You'd want drugs too if a breezeblock dropped out of your wazoo...
Not going gooey over the small pink thing?scubaangel wrote: »If I do go home I'll try to drag myself out for a run before it gets dark.
If the weather is good - why not?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Nope not going gooey over the small pink thing. Just incredibly glad baby has arrived safely as its been a tough pregancy for my friend who had been in hospital almost a week trying to have the labour induced. Baby also has been named, it's quite old fashioned but a really lovely name - one of their discussed options was horrendous I suspect if they'd picked it I'd have referred to baby by something else its entire life like one of those really annoying relatives who always get your name wrong accidentally but in my case on purpose!
Not heard anything from the new father yet as to his plans for coming home this evening or not, so am doing some surveys and drinking my body weight in tea. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Peregrine? Tarquin? Aubrey? Some of the boys' names are even worse...scubaangel wrote: »Not heard anything from the new father yet as to his plans for coming home this evening or not, so am doing some surveys and drinking my body weight in tea.

I think it was just me didn;t really like it, what they've gone with is also quite old fashioned but is one that I've thought for a while should be more popular and sits nicely with the middle names (which are family names).
Am still here, the hound and I had a nice walk earlier - with their neighbours wanting to know who I am and why I've been in the house all weekend (closed communities are awesome).
Just spent a little under £11 on £32 worth of items from the SiS website, I like their gels when I'm training so redeemed one of their freebie offers for 12 free gels via a code and then added a running nutrition pack for £12 as its only free delivery over £10 and the nutrition pack got an additional 20% off and contains things I know I like (the gels and powders) and a couple of things I've tried but in different flavours to the ones I normally go for and a new water bottle as mine are getting to the point of being utterly disgusting.
I've also been looking at road bikes, I think I've found one I like the look (and price of), just need to call a couple of local stores to see if I can get a better price than the chain retailer who have an old bike trade in offer on at the moment - most of the cost of it will be covered by the saved Christmas money and I've already been given some birthday money. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

It depends what you mean by "old fashioned". "Adam" has been around since Adam was a lad, but is still in use today - but names like Fanny and Euphemia aren't very popular these days.scubaangel wrote: »Am still here, the hound and I had a nice walk earlier - with their neighbours wanting to know who I am and why I've been in the house all weekend
"I'm the trois out of 'menage a trois'..." :rotfl:scubaangel wrote: »(closed communities are awesome).
I don't know about that. A long time ago, a house came up for sale in a place that is essentially a row of houses in the middle of a wood. Drove half way down to go and see where it was, then the banjos started...
I hope there is a happy medium.scubaangel wrote: »I've also been looking at road bikes, I think I've found one I like the look (and price of), just need to call a couple of local stores to see if I can get a better price than the chain retailer who have an old bike trade in offer on at the moment - most of the cost of it will be covered by the saved Christmas money and I've already been given some birthday money.
Thinking about biking to work, or is this pure pleasure only?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I'm talking military community here. So they're understandably concerned when a stranger is walking in and out of a house with the family dog after not seeing the people who live there for a few days. I know my friends aren't particularly close to the neighbours, so even though I'm here fairly often I've never met any of them myself.
Biking to work and something I can use for triathlon, hire fees are usually about £50-£80 depending on the supplier and when you need to collect and drop off so as I'm hoping to do two this year the difference between the money I have towards it already and actual cost is less than I'd be spending on hire. Although I probably will look for a cheap hybrid for getting around on other occasions - one of the swim lakes I'm thinking about trying out I could cycle to but it's an off road path and unless its been resurfaced since I walked it a few years ago wouldn't be suitable for a road bike. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
