Invoice has arrived for my mermaid tail. I'm only a little bit excited.*
Also had an email from my step Dad saying that he's transferred some money in to my bank account on behalf of my Nana, so I've moved that out of the account it arrived in to and have added it to the account that my remaining Christmas money is in.
Have also given Shopmium a try, have applied for a rebate on a snack I wouldn't normally try but it cost less than a pound so if it doesn't work it's not lost me much.
* For anyone unsure this might be a lie, I'm ridiculously excited. I'm currently sat on the sofa trying to plait my hair so it looks like mermaid waves in the morning/sometime around lunchtime when it dries. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Just be careful they don't pick up any old junk off the beach...scubaangel wrote: »Invoice has arrived for my mermaid tail. I'm only a little bit excited.*

OK...what's the story behind this? Have I missed something?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

It's possible this is something I've just been planning in the real world and not on here.....
I decided I wanted a monofin as a training aid. My research took me to a place where there was a choice between a boring oval monofin, or a mermaid fin shaped monofin.
The same day my Dad asked me what I want for my birthday so erm I requested the mermaid shaped one because well why not.
Shortly after I fell down a rabbit hole and in to a world where people make custom mermaid tails to fit over monofins. So decided that the obvious thing to do is to buy myself a tail to go with the monofin with the left over Christmas money which I was told had to be spend frivolously, and whats more frivolous than a mermaid tail. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

This is the real world - didn't you know?scubaangel wrote: »I decided I wanted a monofin as a training aid.
What does that do for you?scubaangel wrote: »My research took me to a place where there was a choice between a boring oval monofin, or a mermaid fin shaped monofin.
Ah well, there's no real choice at that point.scubaangel wrote: »The same day my Dad asked me what I want for my birthday so erm I requested the mermaid shaped one because well why not.
Anything else would not be as good.scubaangel wrote: »Shortly after I fell down a rabbit hole and in to a world where people make custom mermaid tails to fit over monofins. All you need is the shell bikini top, and the Little Mermaid is in your grasp...

Monofin training will help me engage my core and legs better, given most of my swim strength comes from my arms and shoulders at the moment if I do it properly it ought to help my speed and stamina.
If I don't I just look daft in the pool and like a mermaid the rest of the time - no I don't plan to wear the tail in the pool when I'm training, I spend enough time explaining the waterproof MP3 to the pool staff, wriggling in to a tail and explaining it would just be too time consuming.
My Dad doesn't know about the tail yet. He already thinks I've lost a few more of my marbles, and thinks his friends will need me to explain the fin, so am now hoping that the tail is delivered in time so I can take it with me when I go down there on my birthday.
If nothing else I can introduce the world to scuba mermaid in a proper location at the beach.
My hair is already pretty long, I just have no intention of dying it red, am sure Ariel had at least one blonde sister so I shall be her in a green tail. I have a fairly wide selection of bikini tops but none clamshell shaped. Yet.
Am actually tempted to suggest my sister and I take our wetsuits and do a seaswim on the sunday morning - last year I went for a run and spent it wishing I was in the water like the people I could see swimming already. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Like "The Man from Atlantis" used to swim? Though that's probably before your time...scubaangel wrote: »If I don't I just look daft in the pool and like a mermaid the rest of the time - no I don't plan to wear the tail in the pool when I'm training, I spend enough time explaining the waterproof MP3 to the pool staff,

What's so crazy about a tail? In my mind it's no different to those motorcycle helmet adornments - just a bit of fun.scubaangel wrote: »If nothing else I can introduce the world to scuba mermaid in a proper location at the beach.

Why not? Take advantage of a warm El Nino while it's still going. It appears to be dropping like a rock at the moment."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I have seen the odd episode and yup pretty much like that but on the surface.
I swim at the military gym, they take things terribly seriously, unfortunately they also have alot of Nepalese staff who tend to be ex Gurkha's and despite serving in the British army and living in England seem to not have become quite fluent enough to understand what seem like relatively simple concepts like waterproof and MP3.....which I have to say is a concern when they're the lifeguards. But I've not seen anyone drowning yet so hopefully I'll not need to witness their ability to do the lifeguarding part of their jobs.
I'll be speaking to my sister some time this week so might suggest it, depending on the weather forecast it could be a plan for after the traditional brunch at the beach cafe. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

No shame, just bemusement that people thought it was worth making so many episodes.....then again give it a few years and the same will be said of MIC/TOWIE etc.
No before would only result in a queue for the shower. After means I can chuck myself in the car and head the hour or so home to get clean.
In the meantime I'm spending tonight and likely some of tomorrow dog sitting for my friend as she was moved to the labour ward this evening. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

It's like every other TV series, if people keep watching it, then they will still keep making it. Even when simple plain sense says: "Stop!"
I mean look at Taggart. The man was dead and they were still making shows...
Though I am pleased to say, that I've never seen MIC/TOWIE, and I actually don't know what MIC is... :T:T :rotfl:scubaangel wrote: »In the meantime I'm spending tonight and likely some of tomorrow dog sitting for my friend as she was moved to the labour ward this evening.
Exciting times ahead for her then...
