Back to the less painful (physically) finances stuff.
The gift voucher for sainsbury arrived this morning, which was a bit annoying as I was in there last night and managed to spend £10 although that was before the discount for the Taylors Tea I had a voucher for (sadly not on offer this time so cost the value of the voucher).
Had to go to Tesco today after work as I had no fresh veggies and managed to spend £15, although £10 of that was on Easter eggs for work, and £2 is on icecream as comfort food for my painful arms, legs and stomach.
I got home to another book from goodreads, and a card saying there's an item at the sorting office for me which has underpaid postage - I'm not expecting anything but then my family don't tend to communicate so it could be something from them like last time or it could be another book so will go visit tomorrow for it.It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Spent a few days visiting a guy who while we've known each other for ages we didn't really know each other well enough to call him a friend (but more than an aquaintance though).
Am home with a backpack full of very muddy clothes as we spent the time outdoors, first day we hiked from his house to the next town via a couple of pubs, then had to run (slightly drunkenly) for the last train home, then yesterday we jumped on a train to the coast and walked up and down the cliff paths, with a bottle of wine and hip flask of rum for sustainance - then found a pub and had to run for the last train again.
Aside from discovering that he's a fantastic friend to have and we have really similar interests it was mainly really really lovely to find that he's a complete gentleman - the people I know him via are those I lovingly call utter degenerates and vile human beings most of the time so the gentlemanly behaviour has until now been hidden under the veneer of a degenerate. :rotfl:
I now feel I need a couple of days for my liver to recover. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I did wonder where you'd been. I was starting to think "work" - stranger things have happened... :shocked:scubaangel wrote: »Am home with a backpack full of very muddy clothes as we spent the time outdoors, first day we hiked from his house to the next town via a couple of pubs, then had to run (slightly drunkenly) for the last train home, then yesterday we jumped on a train to the coast and walked up and down the cliff paths, with a bottle of wine and hip flask of rum for sustainance - then found a pub and had to run for the last train again.
If that's all you did, then your definition of "very muddy" and mine are poles apart... :rotfl:scubaangel wrote: »Aside from discovering that he's a fantastic friend to have and we have really similar interests it was mainly really really lovely to find that he's a complete gentleman
Well, so long as you don't take that for granted. More likely just asleep to avoid work.....
Old or appreciating that 7 or 8 pints of pretty strong cider and a couple of bottles of wine plus the odd tot of rum from the flask daily while forgetting food is not the healthiest way to survive.
And by very muddy I mean jeans which are muddy to near enough the pockets, and a waterproof jacket I suspect will be easiest to clean if I chuck it under the shower.
Are you confusing mud with grass stains?
Oh I value it, I think I was half expecting to turn up and decide it would be safer to sleep in the car given the general reputation of the group of people I know him through, knew we had a fair bit in common (hence deciding that it was worth going to visit) but not quite how much - although he drew the line at swimming in the sea yesterday which is why we ended up drinking at the top of the cliffs.
Now I'm home I have 5 books from goodreads to add to the to read boxes and there's a distinct lack of space in said boxes so I think I'll be spending a couple of days with my head buried in a book or three. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

No it isn't. Always remember food, and if you can't have a kebab (and forget what goes in them) then you haven't drank enough.scubaangel wrote: »And by very muddy I mean jeans which are muddy to near enough the pockets, and a waterproof jacket I suspect will be easiest to clean if I chuck it under the shower.
Are they dry? Do they stand up by themselves? Then (and only then) they're muddy...scubaangel wrote: »Are you confusing mud with grass stains?
No, nor with carpet burns...scubaangel wrote: »Oh I value it, I think I was half expecting to turn up and decide it would be safer to sleep in the car given the general reputation of the group of people I know him through, knew we had a fair bit in common (hence deciding that it was worth going to visit) but not quite how much - although he drew the line at swimming in the sea yesterday
Sensible bloke. It's not warm out there... (appropriately blue...)scubaangel wrote: »which is why we ended up drinking at the top of the cliffs.

Sounding more interesting than what I have planned. What genre of books are they?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

So far as the jeans are concerned the first pair were brushed down but if they'd been allowed to dry muddy likely would still be both wet and self supporting, the second pair were less so - less rolling under fences went on during that walk.
The plan had always been walk a couple of drinks, back to the house, change and go to a restaurant for food. But we know that I'm pretty much a sticking to the plan failure alone never mind with someone else who happens to be as bad.
It'd have been fine, feeling cold, swim harder - or back to shore and head for a warm pub....
The new ones or the next ones coming up out of the box? The next one from the box is an erotic romance according to the existing reviews and I'll be following that with a nice suspense about stalkers - perfect for the single female living alone. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Which one is perfect? The erotic romance or the stalker?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

How else does a slightly inebriated person with a poor sense of balance to begin with cross a wire topped fence line at a difficult angle?
The stalker one, just perfect given if I open the blinds in my living room I feel like I can be watched from just about every house in the courtyard!
Not achieved very much towards the finances today - three loads of washing and a tickle around the corners of a couple of rooms with the vaccuum (still finding dust from the refurb before I moved in settling).
Apparently we are expecting the normal Monday bin collection tomorrow - checked on the website and my neighbours have all put the bags out, so tempted to sleep on the sofa as the blowing a gale thing means I can hear the bags moving around below me in the quiet bedroom and at least in the living room I can leave music playing (must sort out why my DAB radio has decided it doesnt want to switch on since I moved). It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

You spring over it like a lithe gazelle.
Just like I do.

How are they going? Have the savings recovered much yet?scubaangel wrote: »three loads of washing and a tickle around the corners of a couple of rooms with the vaccuum (still finding dust from the refurb before I moved in settling).

Are the bedroom walls that thin?scubaangel wrote: »(must sort out why my DAB radio has decided it doesnt want to switch on since I moved).

Yes that was my thought too, lithe and gazelle like then reality and half a bottle of wine kicked in and I decided it wiser to roll under the fence in the least muddy spot.
Savings aren't really recovering at all, been sorting out money to send my sister so she can book Mum's 60th birthday pressie from us and paying for train tickets for various open water swims (so far I can get to the Great North but not home again). Am hoping the small stuff I'm getting back in to the habit of doing will start to pay dividends.
Speaking of which I just checked my Prolific Academic account and it's hit the £5 threshold, so have cashed out. Thats one site I need to get back in to checking regularly as it's better to wait for the account to reach £20 cleared as then there are no paypal fees. I've also put a couple of new reviews up on ciao over the last couple of weeks and have a couple of drafts to finish. I also logged in to the survey site that was out of stock of amazon vouchers, they're back in stock so the £5 is happily residing in my amazon account.
The problem isn't thin walls, its more that the floor is poorly sound proofed - a downside I suspect of the lovely looking laminate in the flat as its constructed over the walk way everyone puts the big bags under nights like this are quite noisy. I still want to get some rugs in there at some point so that and sorting out the stuff that's meant to be under the bed (or just additional boxes of books might do it) should help deaden some of the sound - but nights like this that coincide with bin day are comparatively rare.
Not even started, got as far as plugging it in realising it wouldn't turn on with the power cord, then trying it with batteries and it still wouldn't turn on before I put it back in the box and on the to deal with later list. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
