Am still alive......
Mostly.
Had a hectic weekend, worked all of it and hosted my friends Baby Shower at my house (though I did little more than come home from work drink tea eat cake and let my other friends do the organising!).
Afterwards we may have stayed at mine drinking a bucket of wine or two.....so I was a little worse for wear at work on Sunday.
Got a couple of self employed jobs to do this week around work as well as some last minute training for my Sport Relief events on Sunday - because everyone goes out to run 3 miles on zero training runs, and then follows it up with a 2.5km swim 4 hours later on a similar number of training sessions(and no time to get to the pool this week).
The upside is that next week is very very quiet at work so I should be able to take my normal 2 days off, the days which are classed as BH over Easter and potentially some of my lieu time so I can go visit a friend in the Kent/Sussex borders. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Are you sure that's a good idea? How fit have you kept over winter? Spending time off work because you've knackered yourself does have downsides...scubaangel wrote: »The upside is that next week is very very quiet at work so I should be able to take my normal 2 days off, the days which are classed as BH over Easter and potentially some of my lieu time so I can go visit a friend in the Kent/Sussex borders.

Not entirely sure the neck down is any better than the neck up if I'm honest!
I should be fine the run route is pretty flat and alot of people are planning to walk it (have arranged to meet up with some other people via a group on meetup.com) and hopefully if the other people aren't all completely weird I'm going to go for lunch with them. I'll make the final call for the swim in the afternoon but I should have plenty of time to do it and as it's a 25m pool I'll enjoy the reduction in effort thanks to kicking off the ends more frequently. Just want to update the music on my speedo mp3 so I don't get bored since it'll be a good hour to 90mins swimming.
Just cooked myself dinner - why is it that after cooking for yourself you're just not hungry by the time it's ready?
Made myself a gammon and cheese omelette as I brought some extra pieces of roast gammon home yesterday and had cheese left from the weekend, have eaten about half of it despite being ravenous when I got in from work. Well at least I can stick it in the fridge alongside the curly kale and bacon quiche left from the party and I won't need to cook much the rest of the week. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

"Completely weird need not apply..." :rotfl:scubaangel wrote: »I'm going to go for lunch with them. And since it's a pool, and not open air, you'll enjoy not freezing to death...scubaangel wrote: »Just cooked myself dinner - why is it that after cooking for yourself you're just not hungry by the time it's ready?
It's the time it takes - delayed gratification. It's why I always cook either quick things, or things I can leave on their own, when I cook for myself.scubaangel wrote: »Made myself a gammon and cheese omelette as I brought some extra pieces of roast gammon home yesterday and had cheese left from the weekend, have eaten about half of it despite being ravenous when I got in from work. That's what microwaves are for. I remember the days of the Monday evening fry-up..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I made an omelette....hardly hours of technical cooking involved!
Am actually really looking forward to the Open Water swim season starting, the lake I swam a last year opens at the end of April, need to find out when the other two lakes I found that are reasonably local open and decide which of them to swim at this year (one is actually about a mile anda half from my new place but last year only opened for early morning swims). It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

But you must have slaved at that stove for whole minutes at a time! :eek:scubaangel wrote: »Am actually really looking forward to the Open Water swim season starting, the lake I swam a last year opens at the end of April, need to find out when the other two lakes I found that are reasonably local open and decide which of them to swim at this year (one is actually about a mile anda half from my new place but last year only opened for early morning swims).
Why do you prefer lake swimming (as opposed to pool/sea swimming)?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Not even minutes when you take in to account that at the same time I was microwaving some beans and making a cup of tea.
Fewer people, no chlorine, prettier surroundings, rubber fetish, the looks on peoples faces when I tell them I like open water swimming and actually mean outdoor swimming, in the UK......It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Slaving in front of a hot kettle as well! :shocked:scubaangel wrote: »Fewer people, no chlorine, prettier surroundings,
You mean prettier than the muscle-bound hunks that undoubtedly flock to your local pool?scubaangel wrote: »rubber fetish,
You can go far with a good rubber fetish.
Or bad.
Depends on your point of view.scubaangel wrote: »the looks on peoples faces when I tell them I like open water swimming and actually mean outdoor swimming, in the UK......
:rotfl:
It's not that cold swimming outdoors in the UK if you choose either of the days of summer (or even both).
Do you swim in the sea much, or just dive?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I think they call that multitasking, you might not be familiar since it's a rather female trait according to the stereotype.
I swim at the military gym - and yet I rarely see anything that I'd like to take a closer look at unless I'm there when the swim squad is training and even then they move too fast for me to get a good look.
It's just a shade too far for me to get to the coast to swim with any regularity - the nearest coast being Portsmouth about an hours drive away with no traffic and an open and functional Hindhead tunnel, so for the time being its mostly lakes and the occasional river or lido.
More seriously I just enjoy being outdoors, and find I can swim for longer without getting bored in a lake than I can a pool, the lack of chlorine is a bonus since too much swimming turns my hair green - the joy of being a natural blonde, it turns slower than bleached blondes but still turns eventually. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I am familiar with it, but I prefer to serialise and not waste time on frequent context-switching...scubaangel wrote: »I swim at the military gym - and yet I rarely see anything that I'd like to take a closer look at unless I'm there when the swim squad is training and even then they move too fast for me to get a good look.
You'll just have to pretend to drown and see who saves you...scubaangel wrote: »More seriously I just enjoy being outdoors, and find I can swim for longer without getting bored in a lake than I can a pool, the lack of chlorine is a bonus since too much swimming turns my hair green - the joy of being a natural blonde, it turns slower than bleached blondes but still turns eventually.
See, you're complaining about being a blonde, yet all the bleached blondes are wanting to be natural blondes, but aren't.
And it seems you're not just wanting to be "outside" - but in water of some description. Must be mermaid genes...
I like places with a view. Last year was a bit of a pain, as everywhere with a view was rather blowy.
