    Hiya,

Can I please set a target of £5000, I was number 134 in 2014 but not too worried about keeping it.

    Thanks :)

First overpayment of the year for me :) (Number 19)

£138.45 from my target of £1,500 (usual monthly payment of £125 plus £13.45 to round an account down to a nice round number)

    Hopefully the first of many!
    2015 MFW #19, 2015 overpayment target: £4,559.83 from revised target of £3,600 (@ 2 December 2015).
  • This month's big overpayment went out today - £1000. All the rest will now be made up of what extra we can make on eBay etc
    • Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746
    • Original redemption date: August 2043
    • Current redemption date: July 2041
    • Debt: £15,930
    • Savings: £12,430
  • MFW No.148 reporting in with the first OP of the year of £500.

I am hoping to have a good start for the first few months to give me a nice head start and a bit of freedom should I have some months where I cannot put in as much as originally planned.

Scraped together the Christmas leftovers, along with my regular monthly op, so

    £500 for no. 13 :)

    Thanks

No more top up ops until May now. Too many bills to pay.:(

Can someone help me to work out exactly how much interest we are saving. We started at £163k and are currently on 4% interest. I'd like to know how to work out how much interest we'd save for each year we knock off the 30 year term, but have no clue or expertise on where to start!!

You have have a play with this to see how much different monthly op's help.

You should get statements probably yearly from your mortgage company. You might be able to phone them to get a rough statement over the phone once in a while, but it depeneds as well if they pay your interest monthly or daily etc as to how accurate that is on any given day. That or if you have internet banking for your mortgage you might be able to work out your daily interest by checking it for a couple of days, and seeing how much it goes up by each day.
