Just a quick one - don't know if anyone else loves the whole 'olives, breads, oils and vinegars' thing but just in case.....I used to buy lemon oil from m&s at quite a hefty price - I recently decided to chop up some unwaxed lemons and put them in a jar with extra virgin olive oil; opened it last night to have a try and it is fabulous!! :D

It costs a fraction of the price to do, is wonderful drizzled over salmon or any type of oily fish and good for gifts too!! :T

Great idea but please don't try to keep it for any length of time, there is a real risk of botulism.

Despite having a Mr T delivery yesterday, there was nothing I fancied for lunch, so I got a KFC bargain bucket :o (I didn't eat the whole thing myself, and it's the first time I've had it in months so I'll try not to feel too guilty), I'm going to call it a pregnancy craving rather than the fact I didn't have a proper breakfast...

so that's £138 of the GC budget gone, about 10 days into the challenge. I guess that's the good thing about the GC though - I will still make an effort not to go over budget for the whole month. Whereas if I weren't doing the challenge I'd continue to spend as normal and have less incentive to rein it in!

Hi everyone. Another £10.50 spent today stocking up on pack up and breakfast stuff. Forgot the one thing I needed, the milk. Not going back shops now so we'll have to make do. I've got £97.50 left which needs to last to the 25th. Cutting it a bit fine but I'm determined to do it. Good luck everyone x

Hubby went and spent £4.90 at the Co-op on Cheese and dips for tonight's tea. Wish he left it to be to get as I would have walked to Ald* or Lid*

    February GC £26.68/£250

  • Another £1.90 spent today on bread and eggs so will add that to my total.

We had lunch out using a voucher that was going out of date on Friday so no actual cash spent there. Just nibbles this evening as we're both quite full!

Off out tomorrow for DH's birthday so will have lunch out somewhere.

Another £2.50 out of my budget for shop spending today
And £1.30 for shopping from my stockpile

Breakdown of the £43.50 spent to the end of week 1 is
    • £21.95 into shop tills
    • 5p price match coupon used (half of which I put aside for later restock, half is mine to spend on 'whatever')
    • 58p saved from a multi-buy (split 50/50)
    • 80p saved on a Whoopsie purchase (split 50/50)
    • £19.25 'purchased' from stock (split 50/50)
    • 87p loose change which is mine to spend

So that's £10.34 for restocking (but only when I totally run out of something!), and £11.21 to spend on 'wants' or unbudgeted needs

I've also used some bits from open/jars packets, and will be calculating the value of what I've used from them at the end of the month (and splitting 50/50 between restock and spend on 'whatever')
