I thought I had a rough idea of what we were spending as have been keeping an eye on things over the last couple of months but am starting to think I may have been a bit ambitious with my first target. I didn't think £45 a week was too much to ask for 2 adults & a toddler but must be wrong :rotfl:
I am going to work out the balance left from my original total of £225 & divide that weekly & see how I go. Rarely buy washing powder as we generally have a good stock but its typical that I now need it  And also have plenty of nappies now which should last until the end of the month hopefully, thank you for your advice I really appreciate it :A
Must try & keep focussed as otherwise I will never manage to improve! :money:
I usually find I spend more at the beginning of the month and less at the end when I have more store cupboard essentials left over, don't panic, just keep tracking and you'll get there.Grocery Challenge 2024

Worried that I am going to fail my first ever challenge...
Its a complete learning curve. You will never fail. It makes you realise how much you spend and how it all adds up, which makes you a winner not a failure. The first month is always the worst, as you don't know what to budget or realise how much you spend. The only way is up now!
Good luck, and keep posting. Don't be put off. No one here will see you as a failure.

Hi been busy being back at work am stressing about not keeping up with my diary and challenges
Spends this week:
5th £1.50 on crisps and Doritos for OH who wasn't feeling great and that what he wanted....although I have managed to eat two bags not great for my dietthere was a reason I didn't buy them
Edited to add £5.00 for containers for storing and freezing food
6th £1.08 on a neutradol or something air freshner for the kitchen wouldn't normally bother but decided I wanted one! Then spent 84p and got bread and parsnips the parsnips were only 5p
7th NSD :j:j
Made carrot and parsnip soup in the soup maker I got for Christmas. Soup in 21 minutesjust need to remember not too add too much water again. Had to take a bag of carrots out of freezer and re do it so that it was a soup rather than a juice drink
Had my chicken and rice soup out the freezer for lunch and sausage casserole from freezer for dinner. Not looked anything out for tomorrow yet need to do that now.

Gosh this week has been busy! Been updating my debt free diary though and keeping track of everything in my notes app so I know exactly where I am even if I can't get online to post here.
Just updated my sig from said notes, groceries got a bit out of hand. Still under budget but with the amount of food in the house I should have come in at £35. Annoyed with myself but we move on (I did have to bit a lot of cough medicines as I've been poorly... Cue the violinswhich did not help at all!)
Hoping to shop a bit smarter next week! (Starts tomorrow for me as the first was a Thursday)
Hope everyone is well, I'm hoping to do a proper catch up tomorrow so am not liking any posts until then so I don't lose where I last read up to!
Night all xx
Forgot to add, I did my most recent shop at Asda amd for the first time ever used their price guarantee. I got a voucher for 44p! Won't break the bank but it's better than nowt!£1k emergency fund (#33) £140/£1000 10.4%

I haven't done this challenge for ages. I feel I buy too many yellow stickered things, just for the sake of it, and end up buying too much, albeit cheap. Can I be put down for £60 for the month, this will not include going out, which I don't do too much of. I'm hop
ing to use up my store cupboard and freezer stuff.Mrs_Cheshire wrote: »I use checkout smart so was awarded £2.50 for spending more than £5 and 1p for uploading a receipt. Have uploaded the ald* one too as it was for french fries which I should get the full amount back on.
Like the sound of that - how does it work please ?? xx0 -
Another £14.90 spent so that's £45.10p so far this month - not good as my target is £100 for the month.0
