  • Still not been to the shops!! :j ds came home with some milk yesterday as he doesn't want to drink the long life stuff....so no milk needed yet after all!! :D

I did lots of cooking yesterday - I had some chicken left from Sunday, a few slices of bacon, half a pot of olives, some chorizo and a variety of different cheeses. I also cooked the three butternut squash that I had to use up due to frost damage.

I stripped the chicken from the carcass and made stock; I made soup with the stock and butternut squash and made a focaccia to go with it (ate some of it yesterday, dh took some for lunch today and the rest is in the freezer). I also sliced some squash and topped with wensleydale with apricots and ginger which we will eat tonight with beetroot and apple salad, leaves and pomegranate seeds with blood orange balsamic.

The rest of the squash has been frozen (to be used to fill ravioli); I made a pasta bake topped with a variety of different cheeses with the remaining chicken for the kids for tonight; and a bacon, chorizo, olive and tomato pasta sauce for the freezer. :D

I am now in the position where I actually cannot get anything else into the freezer!! At least that helps towards not buying anything else!! :rotfl:

  • Had another no spend day yesterday (up to 4 for the year so far!), although I know that I'll need to pick up a few bits on the way home tonight (milk, plain yogurt and fruit). I'll adjust this weekend's grocery delivery to have extras of these things in future - I'd love to go a full week without a top-up shop!

My personal challenge is just to cut down on temptation buys, so having a list will help me hopefully. Anyhow I have just come back from my first Shop with list and only thing that I bought which was not on my list was Tea bags as I forgot to add them.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All
Logging a £21 spend today. Have updated my sig. Really good shop for that. Have enough meat to do meals till next Monday. All the meat was YS not massively but around 30p per item knocked off. Best was the pack of belly pork. Yum!
As we've no sweet treats left I'm going to make mince pies with my 10p mincemeat as we all love them here.

  • I get one hour between finishing work and fetching the children from school. The plan for today's hour was to go into town and look for the Marks & Spencer vouchers for £5 off a £25 shop. That would have meant doing my food shop with the children after school. Unfortunately both kids have jetlag and DD1 (Who goes to the school I work at) cried every time she saw me because she was so tired! It made me realise there was no way I could do food shopping with two kids today! So I have had to leave the voucher hunt until tomorrow. I have just done a small shop at Sainsbury's. I had a £4 off £20 voucher. Spent £20.65 then after voucher it was only £16.65. That has me a few staples like salad, sandwich meat, tinned tomatoes, squash, cereal bars, vegetables, Stilton & flour.

I always do my shopping list, through the week, on the Tesco App. Then I usually go shopping to Aldi and buy what I can for cheaper from there and then do the remainder at Tesco or wherever I have a voucher for. This week is a big, complicated (due to the number of vouchers I want to use) shop. I got into Sainsburys to spend my £20 & the Tesco App & website were all down! Grr! I managed to remember enough to spend the £20!

So, picking kids up then will do remainder of shopping once DH is home so I don't have to drag then round with me,
    :)

Just added spends again, as selected Fresh Start for the year on YNAB budget (so had to sift back through receipts) and it's totalling at £53.93 so i was about £1.50 out. £1 Misssed somewhere and a 50p underestimate at M*rrisons.

Hi everyone. Managed 5 nsds but now have had a couple of spends. 2 small shops in sainsburys and after work today I nipped in Heron and picked up some good bargains. Currently standing at £42.00 spent out of a £150.00 budget so I have still got £108.00 left.

Should be able to come in budget but not really feeling it at the moment. No idea why. Thinking maybe its because I didn't really put much effort into December and I'm just a bit out of practice. Got quite a bit of food in and enough cleaning stuff and toiletries to last so I should be ok. Good luck to everyone xx
