I really needed something light and easy to cook but nutritious fir dinner, as tomorrow I am nil by mouth from 6 am till possibly late afternoon (due to have a small op), so DH and I decided to go and buy some tofu for a stir fry and some fruit soya yogurt for pudding in Mr S. As I had the £3 off £20 voucher I thought it is worth stocking on a few more items like porridge, crumpets (YS) and a few other bits and pieces. I also treated myself to a mag for tomorrow (£3.99 tut-tut!) so total was £17 after discount, re-updating my sig. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Hi all!!
Old regular challenger here! Did make it to Decembers challenge. Too much going on! But back for the New Year if its not too late to join!
Have kept all my receipts, and done 2 big shops. One from a meat wholesaler, and one from Tesco.
£67.22 at Mr T's. Made up of packed lunch stuff, some half price stuff (cereals, beans, cheese) and even a new little slow cooker! Mine was too big, so bought a new one (half price) and donated mine to someone who needs one.
£13.83 at Mr T's on a different day. Mince, dumplings, spaghetti, pasta ect.
£61.69 at the meat wholesaler, but this got me tray of 30 large free range eggs, 2 punnet of grapes, broccoli, leeks, carrots, spring onions, large pack of middle bacon, large pack of back bacon, huge pork joint, 20 fat pork sausages, large half turkey crown, large beef brisket and 20 massive chicken fillets! Fruit, veg and eggs come from the farm attached to the wholesaler. Such good prices. Meat is all being cut up, split up, and frozen! Have plenty of meat for the rest of the month, and probably more.
So I have so far spent a total of £142.74 on the 5 of us. Will be going to Home B's tomorrow for pet food but after that I would like 2-3 NSD a week of I can help it.
Gonna make my total for the month £350 which is £100 lower than previous months but I do have quite a lot in the cupboards. That leaves me with £207.26p for the rest of the month for bread, milk, fruit and veg and packed lunch stuff.
Hope everyone had a lovely christmas and new year!

Hi All
Logging a NSD today. Will be eating up leftover sausage chilli with some rice and melted cheese today.
I am amazed I can stay out of the shops for a day after it has felt like I've needed something every day so far. Horray!
Bob
I feel exactly the same I think I've spent everyday so far
I am making today a NSD after I spent an additional $12 last night on some bits for a friend in needLove people use things. The opposite never works.0 -

Fruit I spend a set amount on it and if it runs out before the end of the week we go without. I buy enough to ensure the kids can have fruit everyday. The only reason it runs out early is if they are eating more than their 'fair-share'.
This works for us and I have no problem with them not having fruit for a day or so if it has all been eaten. I have the same rule for biscuits/treats. If they are piggies and scoff it all in 2 days they go 5 days without. I have been doing this for years now, as much to do with budgetting as a life lesson, to show that things can be rationed over a week and they can then enjoy them each day rather than having a binge and bust mentality.
I can now quite confidently buy a weeks worth of fruit/puddings/biscuits and know that more often than not it will last a week... Of course there are occasions it doesn't;)

**Like** This is very much the way I think in lots of situations but hadn't associated it to food! :T eureka moment! Will no longer be topping up the treat pot! If you eat the lunch bars/cakes etc 10 minutes before your tea (DH, Grrr), you will be 1 item lighter in your lunch for the rest of the week folks! DH's other annoying habit is snacking on the sandwich ham when he gets home from work. He'll get jam, from now on, if he finishes my ham during the week!I really needed something light and easy to cook but nutritious fir dinner, as tomorrow I am nil by mouth from 6 am till possibly late afternoon (due to have a small op), so DH and I decided to go and buy some tofu for a stir fry and some fruit soya yogurt for pudding in Mr S. Good luck, today
I'm back from my jollies, currently wide awake with jet lag (as are both DDs)! DH is snoring like a trooper, oblivious to it all!
Milkman left us normal delivery & my Dad left us eggs, Weetabix, bananas & satsumas (so that's a few things I can knock off my list - a saving too because he doesn't want the money back). :j
DDs are both booked in for school lunches today & I've got Butternut Squash soup out of freezer for DH & I to take.
I have been meaning to defrost the garage freezer for months but have never got the space to transfer stock to inside freezer. After being in the house 2 hours, and unpacking, I was looking for inspiration for lunches for today & decided to unpack the outside freezer, before I shop today, to refill! That means dinner will be whatever that package is that is frozen solid & stuck at the bottom of the freezer! :rotfl:2017 GC O-£93.46/£160; S-£136.26/£160; A-£130.55/£160; J-£47.12/£160;

NSD yesterday, that makes two this year! We have no reason to spend today, we have pretty much everything we need, but I have to go to London and may have to grab some bits to eat. Taking a packed lunch, but I'm going to be out of the house for 14hrs and can't carry everything I'd need for two meals.
Will see how that goes...

I haven't spent alot in my first week, the 1st to the 4th, which is obviously a shorter week (but I get paid on a Sunday so I have ran it from the start of the week to payday); Therefore, I've allowed a little wiggle room in my second week. I need to find receipt which i think was £4.49 spent in M*rrisons to add to sig. So, my week started on Monday and I have spent £52.73 between Asd* shop online, L*dl, M*rrisons and Asd* instore; as I was quite low on supplies other than cupboard stocks. Managed to fill the fridges (have two !!!!!!) for that and any gaps in the freezer. Managed to get loads of f & v from M*rrisons for that all for 19p each, so lots of things I have ran out of now replaced; but need more about Thurs, hence wiggle room.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July ££110.46/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Did my weekly shop last night for £26. Very impressed with myself. Pretty much stuck to my list. Okay so I had no meat to buy, as I buy meat every 2 months from a butchers and fill my freezer, but still impressed with myself.

Another NSD for me yesterday. :j
Lasagnes made yesterday, we had half of one for tea and another full one for the freezer so we have enough for another three nights teas
Beef in the fridge had to be cooked today, so that's now in the slow cooker along with some bendy bottom of the fridge veg (potato, sweet potato, YS parsnips, some limp carrots and celery) beef stock, garlic and rosemary so hopefully will turn out well. Plus there will be plenty for the freezer too...
Today won't be a NSD however as I need to go to ald! for some super6 salad stuff
Have a good day
