January Grocery Challenge 2015

Oh dear. Was out to the opticians today, and popped into L*dls on the way back. I think I had a "going back to work" panic! I bought shortbread and cake to "first foot" the office - which I have already eaten! Oh dear, I am also on the weight loss challenge this month - not a good day for either!
Anyway, I did get some other better food - cottage cheese for a pot a day at work, a huge pineapple, tomatoes, plums, bananas, and what I actually went on for which was lens wipes and dishclothes
£11.48, Halfway through the money but back into a routine! Have taken bread out of the freezer for sandwiches tomorrow. Tomorrow had best be a NSD and I am hoping for the frost to come off the ground so I'm safe for going running tomorrow - no room for cash in my wee armband pouch!2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -
Mr T, some of the multi-buy offers still came off. Timed it just right (between 7-8pm) meat was all reduced between 10-60p (apart from pork joint which was 83p), fruit / veg were pennies, pies & ham were 8p.
Bread, rolls and doughnuts etc. were all under 10p but didn't need any of them. There were plenty of ready meals at 11p too but skipped them.
Just remembered what else I got - 2 packs of cooked chicken and a pack of ham for sandwiches. Also got 2 bags of peppers, 3 packs of mushrooms, avocados, 2 scotch eggs from the deli and a big pack of sausage rolls.
The amount of stuff was incredible, there was at least 20 crates of fruit and veg and 10 of chilled products. They must have seriously over ordered and there were not many people about. Our freezer is full or I would have got more.
I'm Merzal and I am also a food hoarder!! My problem is I can't resist a bargain!
WOW, am beyond jealous, I never ever see these bargains. 7-8 pm, if I am ever near one then I will be calling in! Well done.0 -
A bit late, but stopping by to see if I can join too? I've spent the last couple of days setting up YNAB after buying it cheap from Steam, and groceries are an obvious place where we need to cut back. I am going to try to cut back gradually - my 4 year old needs to be tempted into eating as much as possible, so I can't abandon some of the more expensive food that works for him, like salmon, but want to do what I can.
So, my target for January is £400.0 -

Day 4 of NSDs for the month, but as we are having a family picnic tomorrow, will probably have to go to the shops today.0

Welcome to all the newbies that are joining in the fun. :hello:
Just popping in to report a NSD.
We had all day breakfast today as Mum didn't feel like another roast where as I on the other hand could eat roast & veg every day. Used up the last of the mushrooms so that saved wastage.
Very cold here today and freezing fog - take care everyone especially if you on the roads.MARCH £62.38/2500 -

I didn't know that! Thanks, I will remember for next time. I HATE throwing food away :mad:0 -

Thanks Bobarella!
I should have said that since the start of January, I've had 3 NSDs, then had to do an interim shop today (£39), as I had forgotten to check out my online delivery for today and so lost my slot! :doh:So I need to make sure I take that £39 spend into account when finishing my shopping list for tomorrow.0 -
Quick update
Spent £3.00 at MrT for 2x4 pint milk and a loaf.
Managing to only get what I needed, but was tempted to have a quick look at the reduced items, nothing took my fancy.
I`ve written out my list for the week and popped it onto MrT for a delivery. It came to £64.20, so I cancelled the delivery and will see how low I can get this, by shopping around.MFW#46 2015 Target £2400/£1950
