Few spends since last update and now at £74.01 I seem to spend very little first week then go silly.
Tomorrow will be a NSD as I don't intend to go out at all apart from picking mum up and I will leave my purse at home.
    MARCH £62.38/250
  • Well, last night's takeaway cost more than I'd planned (26 blooming pounds) which leaves me with approx £14 to last until the end of the month (maybe the budget was a tad optimistic!). However, my freezer is still full to burst and I can't see myself needing to buy much this week so I'm definitely not giving in just yet.. On the plus side a NSD today and another one planned tomorrow. Only 14 days to go lol!!

Well £323 of planned £280 was a little over. That being said this did include bulk buying 8 months worth of fairy dish washer tablets!! Bought these in Iceland using 10% off with forces discount card.

Should do better next week, signed DH up for Tesco groceries to get £15 off if spend £60 or more online. Going to sign the whole family up...should last us a few weeks!!

Does anyone buy shops own dry cat food that they can recommend? Cat was having Whiskas but thought if were all trying the drop a brand challenge then she has to too!!
DH, 2 DD and 2 cats. aiming to be mortgage free at 51, 10 years to go! Feb 19 £358k, Jan 21 £283K (using savings)July 22 £246K down to 17 year term, Mar 25 £177k 11.8 year term
  • Took DH off to Lid! before lunch and we spent a grand total of £18.30. I said to him when it was on the belt it would be less than £20 and he gave me a funny look!

We have a pack of their pork steaks so will cook two for lunch tomorrow and then freeze the rest. No need to go out for anything tomorrow so guess I'll have to tackle some housework then!

We then went to Dun*lm, but that's another story.................

Just worked out I have only £19.85 to last until the end of the month and I know if I go over budget at this stage I'll blow caution to the wind and spend, spend, spend.

I have people coming for lunch in the week, I usually go out and just buy things but this time I aim to use what I have.

Thought of doing potato and leek soup, I have potatoes, leeks on the veg plot, frozen turkey stock, or swiss boullion in the cupboard. I'll do croutons and possibly bits of crispy bacon on the top. I need cream and rolls - I'm hopeless at making bread rolls.

Hopefully I will stay within budget!!!

So, that leaves me with just £93.50 till 31 Jan - not feeling massively confident :o

I'm in a similar position. I have £87.06p left for the 5 of us! but WE CAN DO THIS!

Anyway..... decided to go to Ald! yesterday instead of Mr T's. Bought fruit, veg, milk, fruit juices, pizzas, bread, muffins, crumpets, biscuits, crisps, cheese, marg, cereal and FR eggs and yorkshire puddings (normally make my own but sometimes I just need the convenience!). Spent a total of £27.93. I'm interested to see how much it would all have cost in Mt T's so i'm gonna do a pretend like-for-like shop online and find out the difference. Will let you all know the results!

So I only have £87.06p left for the month. I don't need to buy any meat. Still plenty left from my bulk buy earlier in the month. I've got pastas, tinned foods and plenty of baking stuff in, so think I might have a baking afternoon to make some treats. Gonna try my VERY best to stick to target.

Back soon with my own comparison results!

  • Had a couple of NSDs and just one small spend of £2.46 at Mr T, mostly fruit and veg. I'm feeling virtuous as I've made shepherd's pie, homity pies, pizza, leek and potato soup and hobnobs. Some eaten, some in the freezer and the biscuits in a tin for DD to crunch her way through.
  • Hi,
My 3rd week of shopping, very pleased with myself. allocated £80.00 pw
I only spent £54.02 and that included a £2.00 gift for my youngest granddaughter.
When I pop into the shops, I think of this thread and it helps me not to buy I don't need, so I am getting better at not buying unnecessary things.
Next week will hopefully be even better, Im on the hunt for coupons and offers. Any suggestions greatly received,
    Gill
