Nipped out to Asda for cat food as it was on offer. £24 spent so enough too feed the whole neighbourhood's cats, or just our greediest one for a couple of weeks. That leaves me £36 for this weeks food shopping. Luckily I don't think we need much.

Ooh it is a long month, especially as my 'challenge' month started on 27 December! I spent £16.30 in Waitrose today, but have also added on £5.00 that OH spent on 2 pies yesterday

He wanted something to take out with him and DD today and didn't want just sandwiches. I suppose at least they were decent pies from the butcher rather than yukky ones from the supermarket (I often wonder what they hide in them ).

So, that leaves me with just £93.50 till 31 Jan - not feeling massively confident :o

i read the recipe earlier for marmalade cake earlier and wondered would this work if the lemon curd was substituted for marmalade?

Thank you for sharing this lemon curd recipe, I've got a jar in the fridge which really needs using up so going to try this later whilst I've got the oven on!

  • 25.23 to report on a top up shop today, we have lots of meals in freezer so just needed fresh food for the week, but there were a few things where I went that I know are much cheaper in ald! So will pop there tomorrow, then should not have to spend until next weekend
  • OH wandered in to town today with DS1, so he could spend his Xmas money. Came home with a few bits for tonights dinner that I couldn't get from Mr T. £6.27 to add to our total spend. Getting close to budget, but still confident that we can do it :)

  • My NSD turned into a spend day as I was short a few things for my recipe for tonight, plus I forgot about veg for tomorrow's dinner - whoops!

Anyway I have been out and bought stuff for tonight and tomorrow, an extra loaf of bread, milk and soya milk. This will have to last until Tuesday as I have no money left until Tuesday.

Now I need to start working on next week's meal plan and next month's meal plan as I am going back to planning monthly.

I have started back with the monthly planning this month and it has worked out so well for us.

There should have been no need for the shop until Wednesday but DS2 has gone off to a friend's birthday tonight so that meant getting a card, some sweets to take for the sleepover and some money to buy a drink at the cinema. DH also bought a couple of bottles of coke and a pack of Mars bars while down at the shop.

All in it has meant a spend of £10.67 :(

A spend of £10 today on 4 pizzas, salami, olive spread and BBQ pulled pork x 3.

That leaves me just under £17 to last until pay day on Friday. I will need to use all of this but I refuse to go over budget. It we don't have it they can't have it until Friday.
There is plenty of stuff in and I have plenty flour and baking stuff in if need be.
