Hi all
Just joined this forum to have a rant about Morrisons.
I recently bought a Tassimo T12 coffee maker as we were shopping there. I paid £59 which I didn't think would be overpriced as I assumed they were like all supermarkets they were competing for our business.
I got home and thought it would be a good idea to buy a holder for the T Discs so went online and found them on amazon....also the same coffee machine I'd just bought was on there for £39!
I checked other sellers and even found John Lewis was selling for the same £39 !
I felt somewhat miffed paying £20 extra for the same item and felt I needed to fire off an email to Morrisons. They contacted me after 3 days and the long and short is they would not price match or let me return for a refund.
If it was a few pounds extra I wouldn't have been bothered, but this was half the cost the others were selling at.
Never will I set foot inside Morrisons ever again as now I would not trust any of their prices to be fair.
I realise how naive I was but it goes to show why people are now buying off the internet so much.
Morrisons could have had in excess of £5K a year from us but now it will be spent elsewhere.....

  • They didn't really rip you off, did they?

They sold it for an advertised price, based on their business model. Some things will be cheaper, some more expensive.
  • Nice rant, wrong forum.

You were not ripped off, you saw the item at the advertised price and bought it, it is no good looking elsewhere afterwards and complaining because you could have got it cheaper, the lesson is to do your homework first not after buying.

You paid a premium price for the convenience of getting it when and where you wanted it, and for the ambience and service quality that you experienced.

If you bought it at Morrison's for £39, then discovered everyone else was selling it at £59 would you have gone back & given them another £20? Lesson is to research BEFORE buying, not afterwards. Pointless rant!
  • you saw a price you were happy to pay and you bought it. It's down to you to do your research on prices before buying items.

I'm sure you would do the same with bigger items such as a car or a holiday etc - it's just the same for smaller items.

You have been given the option of a full refund so that you can buy elsewhere.

I don't think your anger with Morrisons is justified at all and to say they ripped you off is just ridiculous.

Just buy one for £39 elsewhere, and take that one back to Morrisons with your receipt for the refund - say it was unwanted gift/faulty - voila!

You appear to have misread the OP, they have refused a refund as they are in their rights to do if the only complaint is the price and there is nothing wrong with the item.

Not really ripping you off, just you feel like that now because you didn't do your research prior to purchase.
Not sure Morrisons will be losing too much sleep over your £5K spend elsewhere

£20 isn't a too high price to pay for such a valuable lesson.
Morrisons could have had in excess of £5K a year from us
I don't understand why such a high earner/spender gets that disappointed because or mere £20...
Regardless, one really must be very naive to spend £100 per week on buying pretty much everything in one store and then regret overpaying £20 for something.

BTW, why have they refused a return?
If a product bought at Morrisons fails to please we will always offer a refund or a replacement to the value of the product(s) originally purchased.
