Right, I've got around to updating my spreadsheet. You're #139 :TLottie_Clark wrote: »Hello all - I'm a massive newbie to the site and this thread!
You've inspired me to work out my debt so I felt I should take the leap and put it up here for all to see and to give me the motivation to keep hacking away at it (if it's ok to get assigned a number?) My payday is normally the 25th but it may come ahead of the weekend so I'll keep my eyes peeled.
2015 is a big year of change - getting a house with my OH, job contract ending in May (I work in heritage) and currently very strained and stressful relationship with my folks so tackling the finances seems the best way to regain some control and kick off this VERY COLD year! With a house move may bring opportunities to finally sort through that mountain of stuff to sell/freecycle and the job ending will be tough but may lead to other opportunities - but at least I can be on the straight and narrow by May financially.
So, all important figures: £17,556.43
Sorry for the offload
- will update sig accordingly!

Question for you all - whilst you're debt busting, do you put money away for X Y Z costs that come up in the year - for example presents, etc. Or do you just pay them as they come up and take the hit (knowing that you will just have to put less to the debt that month).
No. I never have, deal with everything as and when it comes up. Although I do do the Park high street vouchers for Xmas that I pay monthly throughout the year so that helps a little I guess. When car etc has broken it gets whacked on the cc.
Hoping now I'm being more responsible with money once I've paid all the debts I can have the side money fore unexpected expenses0 -
Hi all, getting so close to payday now. Can't wait!!

Minimum payment for the loan went out yesterday and the balance is finally reflecting that so I can report how much has been paid off.
#87 £291.64/£4,827.56 or 6% paid off.
I'm pretty sure I can't leave it so close to £300 without rounding it up
so I might need to have a bit of a look to see if I can squeeze the extra £10 from somewhere  Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -

I've done this for the past couple of years. I have 2 extra little savings pots, one for presents and one for my car. For presents, I've estimated what I want to spend on which person and divided that up between the year. Most things only crop up for me from August onwards, so I've got a nice little pot ready and waiting
and the same with my car, I pay my insurance annually so I'm not paying interest on that, and by the time that and my MOT are due, I've got the pennies stashed away waiting to be used
and I put a little extra away just in case my MOT and service work out more than I expected (hopefully saving me from having to use the cc!) 0 -
Just switched my energy supplier on USwitch.com. I recommend everybody checks it, energy prices are LOW at the moment. We only have low bills, on an already competitive tarriff - £56 dual fuel per month - but it's going to save us £10 a month! If you use more, you'll save more. And it's reaaaaaaaaalllly easy. Stupidly, slightly scarily easy.
Make sure you pick a tarriff with a free cancellation policy (even if it's a little bit more expensive), so you can switch again for free if required in the future.0 -
Pablo - was it easy to do? How did you know how much you use per year - utility is in OH name, asked him to give up to date reading and find out usage for last year and he said they can't tell him?
- [STRIKE]Credit Card: £2,989 / £2,989[/STRIKE]
- Bank Loan: £12,000 / £14,000

I looked at the last year of bills which were all online, and worked it out from there. I think they have an estimator tool if you don't have access to your bills which should give you some rough idea, although you need to know what tariff you're on currently.
And it's really easy to do - literally a few minutes to enter your details, and then they do all the work for you.0 -
I pay for stuff as I go along as there's so many big expensive a at every point of the year it's impossible to save for!! Lol.0
