Ok, I felt a little bit guilty stating the challenge and not making a payment. So I've just paid £23 to my next account rounding it of a £170 :)

What sort of thing have you been flogging?

Thats one heck of a payment :D

Mainly motorbike bits that I have lying around the garage. I have a race bike so have replaced and upgraded bits and never got round to selling some of the bits I have taken off. I am serious about getting this debt down to zero however so I'm unfortunately looking at selling my pride and joy road bike too :(

I was toying with selling my pride and joy mountain bike, but I couldn't face up to it. Too many hours spent fiddling and too many bloody knuckles for me to get rid of it. If you're a genuine roadie, you'll end up getting another down the line and it will have cost you money overall for some short-term gain. Think carefully!

We don't have rigid rules - you can set your own target, start date and total paid off already... whatever feels best in your head. Your target doesn't even have to be your full debt, despite the title!

That's true, I've invested a lot of hours looking after it but I don't think I can justify having £7-8,000's worth of motorbike sat in the garage that I use 6-months of the year. That amount would certainly make a significant impact on what I have left to pay and whilst it would kill me to get rid of it, the feeling of being debt free I bet feels 10x better.

Paid off another £360 today, so my totals are:

    #122 £2566.58/£30,113 8.52%

Can't say I'm looking forward to the next 12 months though.

Being in debt is a complete drag. When I think the dizzy heights we reached on the 1/1/15 is enough to buy a 3 bedroom flat outright less than 30 minutes drive from Edinburgh....:

...well, it gives me a bit of a hollow pit in the stomach.

Never mind. Heigh ho and onwards! Hopefully by the end of the year the red zone will have moved into the black.:o
  • Feeling very accomplished as we've started making payments to the horrendous £18,800 of debt!

£75 extra because we sold some furniture that we don't use
£47.18 earned in cashback deals so far this year from switching utilities and booking a hotel for a work conference!
    £50 Credit Card payment
£292.09 Loan payment for this month....

Will be doing a lot more through the cashback site this month, and we've got several other items for sale on local pages so that money will come off our total too eventually.

Feeling like slow and steady progress so far.

#128 updating as promised! £125/£5476.88 paid off so far! 2.2% Hopefully will pay another 200ish by end of month which will make me around 6%.
  • I have had a blinding month. My self employed job has earnt good money this month, my employed job paid some back pay and we've gone over our direct debits and reduced/changed services on everything we could. So .....

#103 has paid another £221.26 off tonight, resulting in a total of

£1447.50 paid off for January, 10.2% gone for good.

1 whole debt gone in 20 days. Amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it, isn't it?
