Paid off another £500, but still not on target for my goal of paying it all off this year. I'm probably going to take a leaf out of jwil's book and pay it off £5 to £10 a day. At least that way I'll feel it gradually going down each day and be a bit more motivated...

    122 £3785.08/£30,113 12.57%

I suppose I did it this way to make sure I was only paying it off when I knew the amounts to come out in the next couple of weeks were already covered.

Oh well, at least it's progress!

    Payday update from me :)

    DFBXmas2015 #048 £849.00/£9,348.00

    Well done everyone :T

I know you only update this thread now and then, but I have found your diary really inspiring. Now I am realising paying off a little bit each day (I, like you, also have little bits of income coming in throughout the week), even if all I can manage is £2 :o will keep everything on the move and in the right direction. So thanks for the inspiration.

Payday and a few invoices ontop collected for year end. Managed to put £900 towards my debts just now which I am chuffed about. Creeping towards being 50% there already and still (just about) March.

Next month is looking like a tough one. I have both car and motorbike tax, MOT and insurance to cough up for, and if the car struggles with the MOT like last year then it could be a very expensive month. Might need to take a hiatus from the repayments, we'll see. On the plus side, I have a lot of overtime at work to come in which will hopefully cover it, so hoping to still make some sort of payment.

The big news for me is included within this month's payment, I cleared the single biggest credit card which I have had around my neck for a few years. I had started clearing this down last year before starting this challenge, but the 2 and a bit grand I've put in this year saw the rest of it off. It was just over 4 grand in autumn of last year.

Going to crack open some wine to celebrate.

Good luck all - we're doing this together!

I'm still not off the blocks but am trying hard. I switched some of my balance back to a lower interest rate but haven't been able to with the bulk of the debt. Fees for the switch have gone on this month taking the balance up but paying all the minimums isn't making a lot of difference atm. After months of wrangling my energy company has agreed to refund the money they owe me but may drag their heels (benefit of experience) on handing it over.

I have the other house up for sale with a new estate agent but from this month will be back to paying two lots of Council Tax (+ first 1/4 water Rates is due 1st April). Recovering well from my operation (I can now tie my own shoelaces and put my own socks on) but until the house sells or I am well enough to improve my earnings it will be keeping things on an even keel and hopefully making small inroads into the debt.

You are all doing really well. just wanted to let you know I haven't given up, just getting there really slowly for now.

Thanks for the updates everybody! You're all doing fantastically. Even if you've not made great inroads into the debt, by coming on here you're keeping motivated and guarding against losing control. So keep visiting and letting us know how you're getting on, it's appreciated

We're not far off last month's bumper total, so it's been another fantastic month. There are still a couple of days left for you to report your totals... deadline at midnight tomorrow! Traditionally April is where the lull really starts, so this is a call for everyone to keep it up and buck the trend. Collectively, we've already paid off over a quarter of a million pounds this year alone, which is simply astounding. Not to mention SIX debt free successes already!

Thanks Rachie. Seems it's been a blessing in disguise. Sellers pulled out completely on the sale of that flat, with or without our £3k extra.

We viewed another flat today and it's nicer, warmer, better location and we've had an offer accepted for £1k less than the offer on the original flat. There was a reason why we didn't get that flat and finding this new one was it.

Fingers crossed this one goes through. Feeling much more positive on this one as the sellers are buying a new build so no chain. They were quick to accept offer and even offered their sofa and table n chairs too.

So glad things look like they've worked out for the better. That last deal sounded fishy, they were time wasters in the most frustrating sense. Keep the updates coming, and cheers for staying around.
  • #156 checking in. Had a great birthday week off on a budget - gigs that the tickets were presents (my favourite band were breaking up - I wasnt gonna miss their last shows!) and even a free main course for my birthday meal (and my awesome girlfriend paid for the rest of mine).

During my time off I also had a couple of payments totalling £344.42. It would be more but my next minimum payment is due the day before next months payday so I have to be a little bit careful until then. But, this takes me through the 20% barrier to 20.55% - which despite this being my "back to work after a week off" Monday morning, I actually feel in a decent mood thanks to this. Hoping everybody else is going well with their goals!
