  • I find breakfast hard because I like dippy eggs and SW potato scones which are free but can't have the dippy eggs at the moment.

moneypenny21 - according to this article dippy eggs are ok now as long as they are Lion marked.

Flutterby, if you're still looking for free online courses, the OU have some short ones you can pick from under the name future learn; https://www.futurelearn.com/courses I've done quite a few of them in my spare time. Quite interesting, but not too deep or long term.

Scan done this week and NT tests. Very active little jellybean this week, jumping about and not wanting to keep still. The mums both wanted a scan photo and my dad as well as us, so that cost a small fortune. Do all hospitals charge now? Got to go for glucose tests in a few weeks. My brother has type 2 diabetes, so they are sending me for safety while it's in close family.

I'm having some really strange dreams lately, which i've read is to be expected. But, wow! Almost enjoying the sleepless nights, so i don't dream.

Our 12 week scan pic is free but we have to pay £5 for 4 anomaly scan pics.. though I got 6

Testing because of type 2 is ridiculous.. that is usually caused by lifestyle so it is impossible to say you are more at riskof GD because of that.. but then Type 1 is an autoimmune disease so just as unlikely.. I'd LOVE to know where they make this stuff up!! My son has T1.. hereditary factors from his other side side of the family.. yet they want me to be tested.. no ta! :p
Thanks Tata. I know, so many people have said not to worry but I had a 2.5 stone gain (after baby was born!) last time and I'm nearly at 2 stone gain now with 17 weeks to go :/ I find it so hard to lose when not pregnant I thought trying to mitigate a total disaster would be helpful! If I don't end up BFing I will have no chance of losing it! That was the best diet I've ever done :)

I find breakfast hard because I like dippy eggs and SW potato scones which are free but can't have the dippy eggs at the moment. Also I can only eat rice krispies as cereal and hate eating fruit before lunch time so I end up eating rice krispies for about 10 syns a bowl then feeling like Ive blown it for the rest of the day. Lunch and dinner I can do fine, its the snacking really. Mornings are even harder now with feeling sick. Maybe I can do SW post 12 noon and whatever the heck I want before then?! :) Well done on the small gain, that is great :)

breastfeeding does NOT make you lose weight.. if you do lose weight it is pure coincidence.. breastfeeding helps your uterus contract and return to its normal state.. as a breastfeeding counsellor it is my duty to correct that myth. So long as you ignore most 'advice' from midwives and health visitors regarding bf you will befine.. I suggest seeing if there is an antenatal breastfeeding class or even a bf cafe nearby .. check with the childrens centres they usually have details.. they run them here, they are so much more imformative and the people running it usually have a better idea what they are on about! Midwives are taught how breastfeeding works.. about half an hour session, not on how to do it! and HV's just spout whatever claptrap they picked up at the last conference.. usually they just tell you to give formula!

re dippy eggs.. If eggs have the red lion stamp they are from vaccinated hens so you can have them raw if you like.. dippy is perfectly fine.. but again.. how may times have you been made ill by a dippy egg??? Never?? What is the likelihood now??, just because you are pregnant.. no greater!!.. more hysteria breeding!! Common sense is all that is required, sadly many people have none!

Come to think of it.. the risk of contamination from the toxins in the vaccines probably has a greater cumulative effect than the risk from a dippy egg.. Oh to have the money to fund my own research... :p

  • Ooh thanks - dippy eggs all round for me :D

I can only go by my experience last time with bfing - it may have been a coincidence but there has never been another time in my life when I could eat a packet of biscuits through the night while feeding and still lose weight :D I agree with finding someone more knowledgeable about bfing too,I had someone come to my house to help me with positioning and it made all the difference and allowed me to carry on feeding.

Woke up feeling positive and weighed out the same calories worth in rice krispies as I could have in Weetabix - little tweak there Tata ;) good to know you aren't one of the "tweak police" :D Now eating home made cheesy potato scones - another tweak but better than a packet of crisps surely :D

Haven't been sick for a few weeks and don't feel as nauseous - perhaps the 2nd trimester bloom isn't a myth after all :D how is everyone else?

    Hi All

Had a lazy Saturday, followed by a productive Sunday where we cleared out some more junk and listed a lot more stuff on eBay. Beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel now.

Our pram and carseat arrived last week, and the isofix base arrived on Saturday morning :)

My Boobs are ridiculous now and the stretch marks are just starting to show on them! :( It's like puberty all over again, except saggier! lol

    Hope everyone is well!

  • Haha I won't tell on you Moneypenney!

Glad to hear your having a lazy weekend Euronorris, sometimes it's nice to relax.

I'm just organising for movers to come and shift our house for us when we move in 3 weeks, got a quote for €250 for the whole house so I'm going to do that! No lifting or packing for me! I'm glad we've found somewhere, nice garden area attached and no steps at the front door to have to contend with.

I got some baby stuff last day as well, all unisex. Got as much as I'm willing to buy now until near the end and I see what I can gather up from hand me downs etc. I've an IKEA cot and mattress on the list, one pram and maybe baby monitors and I think that's all the big stuff really.

pmsl.. I have an angry inhabitant.. it has hiccups... it does not like hiccups at all!!!

I have found a box with a dozen or so white sleepsuits and a couple of vests.. I bought a few bits in the next winter sale.. if by the 4 miracles rolled into one chance it is a boy he will look lovely in flowers I'm sure! If not and my OH is in fact a woman (no y chromosome so no chance of a boy :p) then we're all good.. either way.. its wearing flowers! Just knitting a couple of cardies.. lilac and pink :p .. a boy would be a right bonny sight!! pmsl..

Still not opened the envelope.. I can't face confirmation.

  • Morning all,

Moneypenny - OH is out tonight so I think I'll be having dippy eggs for tea now, been wanting them since you mentioned it! :rotfl:

Tatabubbly - hope the move goes well when it happens. The only downside now to my lovely house is the front steps, think there are 6 of them. However we do have a side alley with just one small step so I could go round the back with a pram. Or I was thinking of leaving pram in car or the attached garage and just taking baby in and out the house in the car seat thingy (god can you tell I'm a FTM?!!). I'm sure I'll figure out the best way.

Euronorris - my boobs have grown massively this past wk. I am an E cup anyway and was a bit concerned they'd be giant, but until this week (I'm 17wks) they haven't grown at all. Must be a growth spurt!

I've added myself to the big list Euro but think I might stay here for a few more days ha!

Think baby has started moving up as I can't feel her as much, bloody anterior placenta. I could feel her kicking low down the last few weeks but not so much now. I have a Doppler though so know she is fine in there.
  • My boobies are massive! I've gone from a gorgeous DD to about an F now.. So much for getting half decent bras..

Flutterby, I'm sure you will be okay, I'm FTM as well so it's difficult to know what to do. We moved due to few things but bonus for us is that there aren't any steps (which I didn't think about) and plenty of kitchen space.
