Sadly, considering we are part of the 'women and family' branch it doesn't go both ways at work. Flexible working contracts are very difficult to get and have to be reapplied for every 6 months. They just say that we provide a 24/7/365 service and therefore staff have to work all shifts. People who need school holidays off work end up leaving/ working zero hours contracts and do bank shifts. This isn't an option for me as we are not in a position to risk the bank shifts drying up.
DH is getting more insistent that I should look into a different career as this one is so antisocial and inflexible :( The thing is that I love the work, it's just the terms and conditions that are the problem

I hope they re-consider the holiday allocation, as it seems so unfair.

I used to work in a 24/7/365. I refused to work the three main days of Christmas, but always worked a double shift New Year. Thank god I changed careers... maybe you OH is right x

I know what you do but don't know what options are available career wise for your profession? Is working in the private sector an option you could look at? Or possibly something that involves working with the same client base but in a different role? I'm sure your qualifications and experience would lend themselves to lots of different jobs that might not necessarily be exactly what you want but not too far removed. You could always pick up your chosen career when the kids are older.
All easy for me to say, I know :o it's so difficult to find a balance but I'm sure if you explore all the options, you'll arrive at something that suits both you and your family. I was forced to give up on a career that I loved and it felt like the end of the world at the time :o but the alternatives haven't been so bad ;)

Thanks for this Bubbs, none in my local, but I've just checked MSM and it seems to be comparing favourably for an APG

Wow!! :beer:We're not worthy, we're not worthy SFSB! As usual, I am late to the party...is this still working...and can I do it for c&c?

    Many thanks in advance!:T
Not my find, I'm pretty sure it was Bexter/Gardenia who found this beauty.. I'm just the guy who translates glitches into everyday lingo.:D

CC/HD may work tomorrow morning A v M (and possibly longer), however buy generic fillers and you shouldn't have any problems. If the most profitable A v M comparison doesn't work, the backup A v S one should and you will still get free chocolate..:D

Things found in the loft............................don't ask.

I've spent two hours 'in communication' with BT, first on 'livechat' (the recommended means of communication NOT), and then on the phone.
I'm sick of our internet running between 0.27 and 0.5:mad:, when we're supposed to get a minimum of 2. Got talked through all the checks, unplugging, switching off, plugging back in, unscrewing sockets from the wall, going online to do umpteen speed checks:eek: etc, only to be told we needed an engineer to visit to redo all the checks:eek:. If he finds 'we' have damaged anything, they will charge us £129.99 to tell us.
Anyway I have decided that if I can get out of my broadband contract, because they are not supplying what I'm paying them for, then I'm signing up with callflowsolutions.
My friend Trev who lives three doors away, got his BT broadband contract cancelled penalty free for that reason, after an engineer told him that this area could never get more than 1.5, even if we lived next to the BT box. He signed up with callflowsolutions a month ago and he is getting download speeds of 32.63 :j. Its only £20ish +vat for unlimited internet. DS2 is delighted, as he's been complaining for ages.
My choccie shop arrived an hour ago, some were subbed for Quality Street. Will check the apg as soon as it shows as delivered.
Sorry for the long post chaps, :o

Thought you were going sofa shopping today Naebarric. Was looking forward to hearing your progress! Not many furniture shops in our area any more. Been to Dobbies today for our free drink. Rubbish sale everything just half price but shelves still cleared. Amazing what some people think is a bargain!
  • In theory yes.

Your last 3 shops show, and it is possible to claim vouchers against all 3 of them.

I can confirm this works. I usually have 2 or 3 online eVouchers sitting there ready to be claimed whenever I think fit. I always claim the oldest one to make sure nothing drops off the system.
