Selling my old phone

I've got an iPhone 5s, it's in pretty good condition. Anyway, I'm economising at the moment and have decided to part company with it. I've been looking at phone recycling sites, Mazuma and the like don't seem to be paying the best prices (they can probably do this because so many people know them and will look at them automatically and accept whatever). Anyway, I was going to sell it on eBay, probably get £220-£250 (before eBay/PayPal fees). Then I saw a poster for a company I hadn't heard of called phonejackpot.co.uk offering £350 for an iPhone 5s in good condition!!! Anyone had any dealings with them?:beer:

I saw an advert for a company called phonejackpot.co.uk; anyone had dealings with?? Offered a very good price of £350 for a 16gb iphone 5s.0

Only scammers would offer a price higher than they would have paid on ebay for the same phone. I think this is obvious.0

I suspect that it will be worth more if *you* get it unlocked (if it is locked) by *your* network.
Don't use some dodgy back street unlocker, iPhones are a PITA in that way!0 -

Thanks for the replies, I've taken the advice onboard and was going to pass but then I saw a phone number, so I decided to call them today.
Got through to a nice (well nice sounding lol) man. He took me through the steps, explained the price is £350 yes but only if you have the phone in perfect condition, charger and the box. I said I didn't have the latter and he said the price would be £320 (it's unlocked btw, otherwise deduct a further £15). Anyway, they're sending a freepost bag or somesuch (similar to Mazuma I guess)....so we'll see  £305 is still a lot better than I can get elsewhere.0 -

You're in for a whole world of pain if you send it to phonejackpot. I would avoid like the plague, the site has zero credibility.
Sell it on eBay, you will get far more than a recycling site. Just make sure you send via recorded delivery and don't accept returns on the listing.0 -

:undecided have you had bad dealings with them or something? They seemed fine on the phone. I couldn't find anything out about them online.0 -

As for him being "nice" when you spoke to him, of course he was nice to you....he wants you to trust him so he can sell your phone and keep the money he gets for himself.goodfelladave wrote: ȣ305 is still a lot better than I can get elsewhere.
Having the phone barred once you realise you have been conned won't matter either, because that phone will no doubt be in another country where the bar cannot be enforced.goodfelladave wrote: »I couldn't find anything out about them online.
If not, I have a bridge for sale you may be interested in.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -
A lot of negativity flowing here....I've heard of people using small recyclers before and being fine. Thanks for the advice nonetheless.0

Is that not ringing the alarm bells for you already?

Presumably they're just a new company, hence the poster I saw that had been stuck up.0
