WAS CONTACTED TODAY BY CLC ASKING FOR HUBBY. GREAT WE HAD WON A HOLIDAY, ONLY CAM BACK 4 WEEKS AGO!
I DID NOT FILL OUT THE SURVEY WHEN ASKED AT THE AIRPORT IN THE ALGARVE, SAYING THAT I NEEDED THE LOO AND THAT IF THE GUY WHO WAS AKING THE QUESTIONS DID NOT GET OUT THE WAY I WAS LIKELY TO ???? ON HIS FEET.
I AM REALLY GLAD I READ ALL THIS STUFF AND WHEN THEY CALL BACK I AM SURE MY 9 CHILDREN TO 6 FATHERS AND I (NOT) WOULD ALL LOVE A HOLIDAY !!!!claircoult wrote: »WARNING! DO NOT fill out the 2minutedraw.com survey to win £2000 unless you want to be plagued with nusiance phone calls!
2minutedraw.com is a front for a timeshare style holiday club company called Club La Costa to collect personal data and telephone numbers so they can use them to sell their products and services under the guise of winning a free holiday (plus admin charges and other charges - so not free) which you can only claim by going in person to one of their sales presentations.
I did the 2minutedraw.com survey 2 weeks ago and Club La Costa have telephoned me 7 times in the past 10 days, 4 calls being within 2 hours on the same day. Each time I asked them not to contact me again but they did not remove my name and number from their computers and they continued to call me. They don't seem to take no for an answer. When I asked to speak to the manager on 3 of those occasions the caller hung up on me. They also refused to give out contact information (address or telephone number) for the company Club La Costa.
One CLC representative was kind enough to give me the number for Daniel Jones the floor manager. I spoke to him today and he told me that Club La Costa owns the 2minutedraw.com website even though there is no mention of this on the website (the about information gives details for Premier Data Logistics Ltd.). Daniel Jones told me that I had entered a competition on the Club La Costa website to win a holiday (not true) and I had freely given my phone number so they were allowed to call.
I did enter the prize draw to win £2000 and I did give my telephone number (required for prize notification) but I did not enter a Club La Costa competition to win a holiday. There was no where on the 2minutedraw.com website to opt out of allowing your personal information to be passed on to third parties. I am registered with the Telephone Preference Service but this does not cover this kind of unsolicited call as it is not a sales or marketing call, despite the reason for offering the free "prize" holiday is for Club La Costa to sell their timeshare style products.
From my experience doing the 2minutedraw.com survey is not "no hassle, no catch, no fuss" as they say on the website. It has caused me and my family distress at the repeated nuisance calls. According to BT the only way I can stop it is by changing my telephone number and going ex-directory or telephoning the police if they continue to be a nuisance.

Had a phone call telling me I'd won a holiday for 4 to any of 3 destinations, The lady gave me a code and a free phone number (0800 988 03 35).
Which without thinking (Now't new for a man I hear you women say!) I did spoke to a fella called Craig, He told to come to London with my pregnant partner and passports to claim our great prize...
He went on to tell me they would put us in £400 hotel for the night pay for our meals and all we had to do is turn up, then came the theres a £29.50pp booking fee, then fuel tax 60 days before you leave at £10-£35 pp(now thinking! The pain!) I decided my partner was away with work and could not accept as we could not get to London in the given time, seeming this great FREE hol was now starting to pile up with add-ons. I am supposed to ring back today but lost the number
damn shame that!
I have by some miracle found the slip I filled in at Bourgas airport and the comp I entered does not close till 31st August 08.
THANKS to all on here for Saving us from a con!0 -
Normally I don;t do these draws as there is always a catch, but as per the lady above ,they grabbed me when I was in a rush for the loo at the airport in the Algarve 2 weeks ago.
Anyway today they called me saying i had won a holiday to one of 4 destinations and had to call 0800 9889901. I said to the woman who called, their must be a catch, and she said there wasn't and she told me to "enjoy your holiday!".
At this point I started searching and found this forum entry. Thank goodness I did.
So I rang the number and explained that I had read all this and for them to say there was no catch was a big fat lie. So I asked them to remove all my details from their database and from anyone else they had passed it on to, which they said they would do.
Hopefully that will be the end of it.

We got the phone call but because we got £25 worth of argos vouchers for going to the meeting we went along. It was a long presentation (4 hours ish) but we turned down the deal. We got the £25 worth of vouchers and the offer for a "free" week in spain.
Well we took the risk, it wasn't free just heavily subsidised and me and 3 others went to the costa del sol for a week for less than £60 each. You are obviously staying in very nice accomodation because they are trying to sell it to you. We expected to be mithered but instead we were taken out for the morning after being given a breakfast and shown around benalmadena harbour. We arrived back at the resort were shown a few show apartments and then asked if it was for us. We said no and they said thats fine (they are not paid on commission so there is no pressure sales).
We were taken back to the apartment and enjoyed the rest of the week.
We arrived back yesterday and had a fab time. They see 90 people per day on these "free" holidays but i can assure you its not a scam.
If you can be bothered spending a saturday morning being shown a presentation and a couple of hours in spain being shown around then go for it. We are normaly very sceptical and don't know what made us do it but we are really glad.
My sister is now going to go for it and take us as the extra 2 (she came with us on ours) and we'll continue to abuse it for with as many family members we can. We were told by our rep that we could do this so yay!!
The scams are the ones whocome up to you on the streets, that has now been made illegal in spain but i still saw plenty of people doing it.

Why are you spamming the boards? This appears to be word for word the same post as you've just made in the IwonIwonIwon sub board (post #81)?

Lol i'm not spamming, if you look at my previous posts you'll see i was asking about it too. Its only a scam if you sign up to the £12000 timeshare.
I was as sceptical as you guys. Do you think i'd sign up to a timeshare when i've got debts as in my signature. I've been stupid once with buying on impulse i aint doing it again.
Its just learning to abuse the system which i intend to doLove being a mummy

Thanks jenkellyxx, I'll humbly & unreservedly withdraw my question about commision.
I'd just hate to think someone, maybe not as clued up as yourself, would be drawn into their sales spiel after hearing a recomendation on MSE to try the offer as safe, and then they go on and sign up for it. Unfortunately for every 1,000 people that go along and say no, there are enough people to say yes to keep these businesses afloat, and then those 'yeses' find they can't sell them for love nor money and are commited to paying annual fees whether they use the places or not. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings

my husband got collared at manchester airport going out on our hols, only gave his mobile number as contact he got a call today to say he'd won a holiday according to the back of the ticket the draw not due to be untill 30th sept, he rung the 0800 number of his mobile just out of interest even though they advised him not to and to use a landline,as soon as the admin fee was mentioned he told her he was not interested and it was not a free holiday if he had to pay an admin charge he came home and googled 2minutedraw where we found this topic, since then the same number has rung again he just answered it and put it on the side and let them waffle on cause it costs them and not him0

We saw a young couple collered at Palma airport, they weren't interested until a £3000 prize was mentioned or a holiday. They gave all of their details to the woman. Afterwards I spoke to them and told them that they would definitely win the holiday, but it will be a timeshare scam. They looked at me as if I was crazy, but hopefully when they get the call they will think twice.0
