WARNING! DO NOT fill out the 2minutedraw.com survey to win £2000 unless you want to be plagued with nusiance phone calls!
2minutedraw.com is a front for a timeshare style holiday club company called Club La Costa to collect personal data and telephone numbers so they can use them to sell their products and services under the guise of winning a free holiday (plus admin charges and other charges - so not free) which you can only claim by going in person to one of their sales presentations.
I did the 2minutedraw.com survey 2 weeks ago and Club La Costa have telephoned me 7 times in the past 10 days, 4 calls being within 2 hours on the same day. Each time I asked them not to contact me again but they did not remove my name and number from their computers and they continued to call me. They don't seem to take no for an answer. When I asked to speak to the manager on 3 of those occasions the caller hung up on me. They also refused to give out contact information (address or telephone number) for the company Club La Costa.
One CLC representative was kind enough to give me the number for Daniel Jones the floor manager. I spoke to him today and he told me that Club La Costa owns the 2minutedraw.com website even though there is no mention of this on the website (the about information gives details for Premier Data Logistics Ltd.). Daniel Jones told me that I had entered a competition on the Club La Costa website to win a holiday (not true) and I had freely given my phone number so they were allowed to call.
I did enter the prize draw to win £2000 and I did give my telephone number (required for prize notification) but I did not enter a Club La Costa competition to win a holiday. There was no where on the 2minutedraw.com website to opt out of allowing your personal information to be passed on to third parties. I am registered with the Telephone Preference Service but this does not cover this kind of unsolicited call as it is not a sales or marketing call, despite the reason for offering the free "prize" holiday is for Club La Costa to sell their timeshare style products.
From my experience doing the 2minutedraw.com survey is not "no hassle, no catch, no fuss" as they say on the website. It has caused me and my family distress at the repeated nuisance calls. According to BT the only way I can stop it is by changing my telephone number and going ex-directory or telephoning the police if they continue to be a nuisance.

"Daniel Jones told me that I had entered a competition on the Club La Costa website to win a holiday (not true) and I had freely given my phone number so they were allowed to call."
Inform him that you consider any further calls has harassment, and as such they would consitute a course of action that may make him liable to arrest under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
I found this but have never used them. Check them out, but watch info they ask for.

Why not use TPS?0

I already do use the TPS, I've been registered with them for 6 years. Unfortunately Club La Costa don't strictly make sales or marketing calls, they are calling to inform me I have won a prize (even though I haven't entered their competition) so they are not covered by the TPS or the laws governing unsolicited sales and marketing calls. They are exploiting a loophole in the law which makes their unsolicited calls apparently legal. According to the government's Consumer Direct helpline there is no law that says companies must stop phoning you if you ask them not to and I was told the only thing I can do to make them stop is to change my number and go ex directory.
A friend of mine has suggested that they may be in breach of data protection and the Privacy and Electronic Communications regulations of 2006 so I'm going to have to investigate that.

 Same problem with 2 minute draw...
Had 3-4 calls from them in recent months.0 -
Never give your real telephone number if you have to do a survey. You could have given your email address only for this survey, but and if it wont let you give email only you would be asking yourself why.
Their privacy statement tells you you are agreeing for them to use your info, and pass it on to other companies. Thats why you are not covered by TPS-you have given them permission to use your phone number. This was a solicited call.
It also says to WRITE to their address to opt out afterwards (not saying they will take any notice). You should be aware when you sign up and give your details they will get passed around. Reading "about us",-I think they make it abundantly clear they are a company who will be using your data, you shouldnt have been surprised.0 -
I had a phone call from La Costa telling me I had won, I said that was excellent news as OH had lost his job and me and the 10 kids really need a break. The lady suddenly seemed in a hurry to end the call ! needless to say I doubt they will phone me back.

I've just had a call telling me they have good news and bad news for me. I haven't won the main prize, but hey I've won a prize for 4 to any of 4 destinations they said. Can't remember now, just ring this number 0800 9889901 and give them the code they give me. They rang me about 5 mins ago and told me I had to ring before 3 today to claim the prize!! Needless to say the first thing I did was come on here. Oh and they got my number from entering the prizedraw on 2minutedraw.com via quidco.0

I too had the same problem, but it was through "get me a ticket" on Pigsback.co.uk0
