if you entered your PIN without checking the amount on the machine then you have to assume responsibilty.

    Succinctly put.

I cannot see any progress beyond this.

My thoughts too, unfortunate, but the value of the transaction would have been on the card machine, so therefore by not questioning and putting your pin in, you were authorising the transaction.

I appreciate what you are saying but the point remains that if I dispute it the club should at least be able to provide evidence of what I paid for? if they just say it was for a dance but they've not go say in the price paid as the girls are self employed then why is the payment going into their machine? if nothing else, surely this sounds a bit suspect? I think the term would be factoring and I don't think that's usually allowed, normally because it can be used as a front for illegal activity.

And to reiterate, the club should be able to provide evidence that it was me using the card machine shouldn't they - at the very least? if the times on the cctv camera don't tally up then that leaves it open that someone else could have used my card? i'm not saying that's what's happened but my bank and cc company owe me a duty of care to investigate don't they and so as soon as the club can't provide the cctv evidence they drop themselves in it don't they? fair enough, it may be because the time on the cctv is wrong but it's their job to make sure it is accurate to support themselves in cases like this & also, 8/9 minutes out of synch is a fair bit

no, all that proves is my card and my pin was used - they should be able to provide evidence that it was ME using the card. If someone had your card and somehow found out your pin would that mean it was okay for them to then use it?

I can't wait for banks to need to provide CCTV footage together with credit card statements in order to hold people liable for their transactions, that sounds great!

(The card is in your possession so you can't claim it was anyone else. It was you that hit okay on the machine and you need to grow up, admit your error and move on with your life)

So, what you are saying is that if the card and pin was used and one still has the card in their possession there is no way that you can ever dispute a transaction? I'm afraid you are wrong. It may be difficult to prove otherwise but there are plenty of ways that fraud can occur under these circumstances, or at least that is what I was advised when I reported it to ActionFraud. In these situations it is perfectly reasonable to then look for cctv footage, which in this case won't add up

also, I ask again - please explain the two transactions one minute apart for £1800 followed by £1500

The prices charged appear to have been negotiable fees for "dances", obviously if you agreed to £1800 but the transaction was declined the girls and the venue would still have been happy to charge a little less if it meant getting some of your money.

This is so ridiculous, you've even admitted that it was you drunkenly hammering in your details until your friend intervened. The idea that someone stole the card and then politely sneaked it back into your wallet afterwards (hahahaha) is an insane nonsense.

You used your card and entered your pin. They have CCTV evidence of you using your card. It's your responsiblity to check the amount when making payments.

It sounds like the CCTV time has just been set incorrectly - if it's a consistent offset, it won't help.

Factoring isn't the right term. The club is simply acting as an agent for the girls and collecting their fees for them.

Morale of the story is: Don't go into strip clubs. If you do, check what you are paying for!
