How Much Did Your House Earn in 2014 ?

Of all the fora on this moneysaving board, this one is by far the most lucrative. The others by comparison are like picking up pennies in front of a steam roller.
For years, I listened to the idiots over on HPC and didn't buy. It was only when I found this one and started listening to the likes of Hamish that I decided to.
Best decision I ever made, I seriously don't understand why people mock mine and others success is purchasing the most successful investment of recent years.
when i first discovered this board around may 2014 hamish was saying it was a good time to buy and the bulls were thanking him for his pearls of wisdom
clearly it wasn't because in order to do so you had to engage in a bidding war with bomads0 -
Every now and again, Linda_D manages to make enough from her business selling stoat pelts to tourists to purchase a litre of diesel. Then it's straight down the back field to power up the genny, turn on the 30watt lamp in her caravan and set about Money Saving Expert.
Generally most of her wisdom is reserved for the X-Factor thread. She feels she has a lot to contribute to this as she made an Olly Murs out of a pillow and the body of a scarecrow, which she sleeps with at night. But if there are a couple of kilowatts left over then she is straight onto Discussion Time.0 -

Earlier today, ruggedtoast attached to his mummy's chest.....
"MUMMMMYYYYYYYYY IT'S JUST SO UNFAIR. The boomers have all the money and have done so well. Even Linda who's not a boomer has her own lovely home. WHY NOT MEEEEE?"
"Poor ruggedtoast baby. I see you've got obsessed with Linda and have been reading every post she's done, those X factor ones too, you're a very sad full grown man. The reason she's successful is that she works very hard and is excellent with money. She doesn't waste her time blaming others like you do dear, blaming everyone else for your failures in life"
"But Mummy why do they laugh at me on MSE?:("
"it's because you are a total loser baby dear but don't worry. Mummy won't charge you any rent because she knows you are penniless. You can live with Mummy forever"
"I can solve this Mummy. I have 28 'nasty boomer ruined my life' threads all ready to post all with nice pictures like in the books you read to me. When the boomers read the threads they will feel guilty and give all their money to me so I can buy a house"
"Yes baby dear.....:rotfl:"0 -

Goodness me, that's a long post for you Linda. It had a narrative and everything and you only edited it 37 times.
That must have used a lot of wattage.

"LOOK MUMMY LOOK!!! I really showed that Linda! I predictably did the boring picture thing too like I always do"
"No baby ruggedtoast, you just made yourself look a complete quant and totally jealous over Linda and the Boomers who have their own homes through being successful and lots of hard work. You're just embarrassing your Mummy now and making her regret not taking that termination."0 -
True for me as well, Hamish's detailed rational gave me the confidence to press ahead and I'm bloody glad I did. Although if I was a little more money minded I would probably sell up now and take the profits and do something a little alternative but the problem is, once you've got the bluetits regularly feeding in front of your bedroom windows and woodpeckers a regular guest in the garden and two woodburners blazing at night, what other investment seems so attractive ?
One of the saddest lines I have read in all the years of reading tripe about the housing market online :rotfl:0 -

We usually get frequent updates from the OP telling us how much their house has gone up in value. They don't seem to have posted for the last few months, I do hope they're OK?0

Net or gross? Should I protata for 7 weeks in 2013 and 1 week in 2015? 29.7% purchased to sold so the gross is probably not open to debate.I think....0
