Come to think of it, why would someone with no interest in housing, and no knowledge to impart, or advice to share, join the housing forum of a money saving site. - I smell a rat ( and not the one my cat brought home!)0 -
You can but I would look at opening a Halifax reward account for your bills, in guessing rent and other monthly direct debits come to over £750 and if they do by having this account, transferring more than £750 a month in and having 2 direct debits or more a month coming outthen Halifax will give you a monthly £5 for doing nothing..
With a savings account and having to manually transfer money you run the risk of forgetting, dipping into it or being away when it should be transfered leading to a lot of £12 unpaid transacfion fees.0 -

Telling someone how it is (the LL not caring when the OP's partner gets paid) is useful information even if it's not what they want to hear.
So absolutely nothing there to refute the fact that the manner in which you did it was pointlessly obnoxious?

If your partner's new overall annual salary is something similar to the old one then you shouldn't be any worse off than you are now, regardless of whether your partner gets paid monthly or 4-weekly.
If you aren't working do you get benefits? Most of those are paid 2- or 4-weekly. How do you budget those when most outgoings (utility bills etc.) are paid calendar-monthly?
Get a pen and a piece of paper and work out exactly how much your household will take in per year. Then divide it by 12. That will give you your household income per calendar month. From there it should be relatively easy to work out a monthly budget including the cost of your rent, without any need to change payment dates.
If you have problems budgeting, you could try contacting a charity like Step Change or CAP (Christians Against Poverty) who should be able to offer free help and advice.0 -
Why would your LL give a toss when you or your partner gets paid? Same goes for anyone else you pay bills to really.
You're contractually obligated to pay your rent on the 7th of each month so that's what you just do. It's up to you and your partner to organise your money so that all your bills are paid on time.

You could ask your LL to move your rent day but you would need to pay the gap in the rent up front, this would avoid you being always late in paying.
I assume you could find the couple of days rent needed.
Being paid every 28 days seems odd to me altbough I know that is how councils pay LHA0 -

Who said I was looking down on anyone or trying to feel superior? Landlords and tenants each have a set of responsibilities, one of the tenant's responsibilities is to pay the rent in full and on time each month.
Since the OP's partner is being paid 4 weekly requesting to change the rent date would end up happening more than once.
If someone is struggling with budgeting and debts then the Debt Free Wannabe board is the place to go for advice and warm fuzzy answers.0 -
