Changing the day the rent is paid

It came across rude. I just don't understand how to budget it when I don't have the money until 2 days after? I have no savings or credit cards. So how can I pay it
I know I probably sound stupid, but it just feels like a complete headache all this lol.
If you budget your money properly then you should have some savings.
If your partner is paid every 4 weeks do you plan on asking your LL to change the rent payment date every month? Your partner will get paid on a different date each month. you're going to have to learn how to budget a 4 weekly pay cycle to pay monthly bills.0 -

We never have any left over money each month that is why we have no savings, we have many debts and I do not work full time due to health reasons, so we rely on my partners income. I suppose I am just worried that I won't work it out properly and we will be short of money for the rent.0 -
And your advice to the OP is...?
I have no advice for the Op - all they can do is ask the landlord, who is perfectly entitled to keep the payment date as it is.
Unlike you I didn't feel the need to make up for this lack of a solution to the OPs problem by being a complete @rse though.0 -
Being paid every 4 weeks means your payday will get earlier each month by 2 or 3 days hence transferring your bill money into a separate account so it can sit there for up to 28 days before your bills go out, the 13 payments means you get a bonus payment, one month they will be paid in the 1st and the 29th.
Ok thank you, that sounds like a good idea

If your rent is due on the 7th once you are past Jan it should be easier0 -
If you change the rent payday to the 9th, then you're going to have exactly the same problem in Feb when your pay again jumps forward. Being paid every 4 weeks is every 28 days, as opposed to every calendar month which is what your wife has been on up till now.. So in the longer term savingdads suggestion is the most viable one as the gap between pay and calendar month rent is going to change each time. Ditto any other calender month direct debits which will also be affected.
Start forward planning now.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Learn to budget...
essentially, it's only the first payment that will cause you a problem. After that you should be putting money aside for the rent so you can make the payments on time.
For the first payment, your only option is to speak to the landlord. He may accept a payment two days late - but it will depend how tightly he budgets and when his mortgage payment is due (if any).
Another option is to explain to your bank the change in pay days and whether they would given you a short overdraft of x00 pound for a week so you make that first rental payment.
Your landlord is unlikely to want to move to four weekly payments in the long term as mortgages are invariably monthly.0 -
Thank you so much, you've made it sound a bit easier now and thank you also for those pay dates that you worked out I really appreciate it. Guess I better open a 2nd bank account haha. Or could I just use my savings account to put the money in there and then transfer it to the account where the bills are paid from when needed? If that makes sense lol.0

Following on from this, the best you can do is inform the landlord that the rent will be a couple of days late this month, and explain why. Changing the date isn't necessary. You might need to check the situation with the bank if you have a standing order set up - i.e., is it possible to delay it in January, or will it need to be cancelled and restarted."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

If you have no advice to offer then just wind your neck in.
Telling someone how it is (the LL not caring when the OP's partner gets paid) is useful information even if it's not what they want to hear.0
