Same here, after a complete disaster with Collect Plus a couple of years ago I switched to MyHermes and save myself both effort and money. The £2.78 rate for up to 1kg is perfect for a lot of my items.
Same here - i used to just use couriers for larger items over 1kg - but paying an extra £1.10 for signed for on smaller items now seems daft, when tracking comes as standard with Hermes for £2.78.
Hermes and Collect+ upped their prices when Royal Mail started pricing by size.
But as Royal Mail have reacted and increased size limits - so have Hermes by reducing prices back a bit. Sadly Collect+ haven't.0 -

The girl was really apologetic and explained that at the particular Depot where my parcels went to from Yeovil (Wednesbury) there is a massive backlog of parcels. They have got extra staff in this weekend and really hoping to get the backlog sorted in a few days. She says hopefully there will be some scan updates on my parcels tomorrow. She says after ten days you can claim for lost parcels but hopefully it won't come to that. So fingers crossed and we'll see what tomorrow brings......
The problem with Collect+ and Yodel at Christmas is that they are owned by the people who own Very and K&CO etc.
Ive had my suspicions confirmed by Yodel staff - that they have to give priority to these parcels - and private ones and parcels from other smaller retailers are shoved in a corner.
Very offer next day delivery right up to Christmas. They can only achieve this at the expense of other sellers parcels being delayed.0 -

I rang them yesterday and the girl explained there is a backlog due to Black Friday last week - she says they will take a few days to catch up. I will ring Monday if no update. If they lose them they have to refund us though, so don't worry!

I would love to use royal mail, never lost a thing. The problem is the jump from small parcel to medium is far too step. I will pay a premium, but when you find that an extra couple of grams cost you 6 or 7 pounds. Then you have to look elsewhere.
Shame, parcels are the boom industry and royal mail are pricing themselves out of the market.
£2.80 for up to 2kg is a bargain if you ask me. I know it's a special offer but 3 months is a very generous duration (and it may be extended).

Still not tracked or signed for.
As more and more crooks hear about how easy it is to get freebies on Ebay - the more attractive couriers will become.
Last week i sold a small item for a much lower price than expected, so didnt use Hermes but upgraded to 1st class standard instead - to make the buyers life easier. She promptly called my a thief for robbing her of tracking money - and opened an INR case to 'teach me a lesson ' - getting the item for free. You couldn't make it up.
But your right - the sizes allowed by Royal Mail are quite generous at the moment.0 -

The cover against loss though is only £20 compared to MyHermes (if item is allowed) of £50. I am using the RM though for parcels below £20 and between 1-2kg in weight. I just hope someone remembers to remind us all on here once the special offer is nearing the end so I can adjust my BIN items.
None of my MyHermes parcels appear to have been affected at all by the fire- I have nothing outstanding at all including one sent on the 4th.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm a postie and when I'm out delivering I see these other companies delivering from cars overloaded with stuff. They get out and leave their engines running while they dump stuff on the doorstep, sometime not even the right house or street!
I like the idea I'm supported someone who is self employed.
My own postman is excellent , for receiving items. By with my Hermes I also don't have to join queues or deal with the occasional " computer says no" face of the counter staff.0 -
Three of my Collect Plus parcels have now got a new update: "Parcel Status: Processed at National Hub" so that's good news. Hoping they will get to the recipients within a couple of days and won't ruin my feedback. Any updates for anyone else?0

I had a customer who lived in a country pub, the nearest town was 5 miles away, so the driver had to go a ten mile round trip to earn 50p for delivering a parcel. I'd probably do the same..0
