  • Mmm, this is looking more and more worrying - roll on Monday when I can speak them and sort this potential mess out! :(

I'm a postie and when I'm out delivering I see these other companies delivering from cars overloaded with stuff. They get out and leave their engines running while they dump stuff on the doorstep, sometime not even the right house or street!

I would love to use royal mail, never lost a thing. The problem is the jump from small parcel to medium is far too step. I will pay a premium, but when you find that an extra couple of grams cost you 6 or 7 pounds. Then you have to look elsewhere.

Shame, parcels are the boom industry and royal mail are pricing themselves out of the market.

Me and my colleagues have said the same. No doubt will get worse now we have been privatised and have shareholders to pay off.
  • Agree- it's the pricing of Collect Plus that makes me go back to them again and again. I have used them for about a year with ebay stuff and (touch wood) never had any complaints or anything lost...although of course I'm worried about this latest development. The other thing that makes them so good is that I have a corner shop a two minute walk away that's open until 9pm to take the parcels to and you don't have to queue up for ages like at a post office. Hopefully this is just a blip due to Black Friday and things will sort themselves out in the next few days!

I totally agree with you and also I feel that at least when things go wrong you can get in contact with them., I had a poor experience with my Hermes.

Its their pricing that made me leave them - Hermes are much cheaper.
  • I hardly use Royal Mail these days. Infact I can't actually remember the last time I sent something with RM apart from letters.

Same here, after a complete disaster with Collect Plus a couple of years ago I switched to MyHermes and save myself both effort and money. The £2.78 rate for up to 1kg is perfect for a lot of my items.

  • I have rung Collect Plus this morning - I was surprised someone was there to answer the phone. The girl was really apologetic and explained that at the particular Depot where my parcels went to from Yeovil (Wednesbury) there is a massive backlog of parcels. They have got extra staff in this weekend and really hoping to get the backlog sorted in a few days. She says hopefully there will be some scan updates on my parcels tomorrow. She says after ten days you can claim for lost parcels but hopefully it won't come to that. So fingers crossed and we'll see what tomorrow brings......
